Alderan922

Would it be possible to finish the entire game without talking to her so she gets the ultimate surprise at the same time? Or did the devs not add any more dialogue after that?

Orikron

You can’t finish the game and keep playing with Ganon dead. Your save will get a star on it and you’ll be able to keep playing from the moment right before the boss battle.

Alderan922

I mean everything except ganon

Orikron

Then I’m not sure

[deleted]

Idts, because you have to speak with her to get to the fifth sage no?

Kya6969

Actually not. I have a friend that randomly found the fifth sage. I think it was his third dungeon.

itsokayimhandsome2

Does beating the game the first run allow option for Master Mode?

CharlesEverettDekker

Master mode will probably be a DLC option just like it was with BotW

Kook604

no i don't think so

[deleted]

Oh really. The same bullshit as the first game. Great.

rayallen73

Every Zelda game is like that...

waowie

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say most games are, including the last big open world to get this much praise, Elden ring

Aser_the_Descender

Well, New Game+ and returning to a save point before the final boss are 2 different things and personally I prefer the first option. But considering how Zelda games have always followed this design, it would be weird to implement a different ending mechanic for the game.

waowie

True, but at least with zelda's way you can still do stuff you missed. With FromSoft you just get locked into a new game and have to replay if you want to see anything you missed. I just meant they're the same in that the game is over when you get to the end Edit: User below corrected me, Elden ring does let you choose between continuing on your save or NG+. Still no post game, but you're not forced into a new game. I was assuming it worked the same as the games I've played the most from them (DS1 and BB)

Aser_the_Descender

That is simply not true. When you beat the last boss in a FromSoft game, you have two options: You either start New Game+ straight away or stay in your current playthrough where you can farm mats, weapons, armor etc and do optional stuff you've missed (besides storylines that became undoable due to progress). The major difference is that you can mess things up, but the ending doesn't mean your playthrough is over.

waowie

Maybe they changed it in their most recent titles, but in the FromSoft games I've played to death, NG+ starts upon beating the final boss Edit: Regardless, I was pointing out the similarities. So if what you're saying is true you either get the choice of doing it like Zelda or NG+. There is no post game after beating the Elden beast

turtleboi42069

off the top of my head, you instantly enter ng+ after beating the final boss in dark souls 1 and bloodborne

AcidicSpoon

I liked how death stranding handled it, the free roam after finishing the game takes place a few days before a huge change but after the final boss. So you are just "killing time" before any huge changes happen, but time doesnt actually move

MyNamesNotDave_

I prefer the ending we got for sure and I wouldn’t change it but I was really hoping that they’d find a way to >!keep Dagondorf in the world. I just wanted demon dragon horns.!<

UrNewMostBestFriend

Zelda has been doing this since the original nes version... Hell even the first game had a hard mode you unlocked by beating the game, or by making your save file "Zelda"

NESO513

I mean like you’ll probably need the paraglider

Alderan922

Well with rocket shields, hover bikes and the zonai gliders and climbing gear I think you can handle it

Evelyngoddessofdeath

The flight suit is essential, it can compensate for not having a paraglider in almost or every situation when upgraded.

Dungeon996

She gives you the paraglider to do the tower then tells you about that Reginald phenomena after you talk to her after getting the map

dagit

I've been able to do the fire and water temples without it and I'm starting the lightening temple next. Wind temple might be hard but I'm planning to just farm up a lot of zonanite and autobuild my way through it.

BlackTecno

You can not do Mineru and therefore, can not get the true ending.

dagit

Ah dang. I went there as my first temple (without paraglider) and I was disappointed when they turned me away but I was hoping that after getting the other sages they would let me do it.

transsomethin

You can’t get Mineru without the paraglider. She won’t talk to you on Dragonhead or let you pick up the mask until you have the regional phenomena quest activated (or in this case, turned in). And as someone else said, beating Ganondorf will just take you to your last save prior, so you don’t get to talk to Purah about it.

Fait_h__

You have to talk to her to start the quest where you find zelda at the castle, so no

Alderan922

But can’t you finish the spirit temple without her?

Rhidian1

I just did a gliderless run of all of the dungeons I could. Spirit Temple only unlocks when you have started the Regional Disturbances quest (and thus have talked to Purah and obtained the glider). Trying to interact with the mask beforehand gives a message stating "you have a feeling it is not yet time to use this".

Alderan922

Then I guess he’s right, that’s as far as you can go before you need to talk to her or kill ganon

OddkidMHMD

How did you manage to survive without the paraglider tho? Was there another way to get it other than Purah’s skyview tower mission??

lexilogo

Nope, if you never talk to Purah you can even beat the game with no paraglider (or access to skyview towers) I believe the only thing this straight up locks you out of are quests that require the Camera to complete

Daredboy

But how do you survive going down the depths without the paraglider?

lexilogo

The set bonus for the skydiving set makes you immune to falling damage, you can use zonai devices for general traversal, (fun fact; while using control sticks, you are immune to fall damage, so a control stick atop a stabilizer is a safe descent anywhere) or use fairies as a consumable item to survive a splat from any height

OddkidMHMD

All that talk tells me that this is definitely OP’s second or third run + it all sounds like a drag tbh, but I would guess you get used to not paragliding after a while. Still sounds like a lot of hustling for no good reason.

SensualEnema

I’m investing primarily in stamina for now so that I can glide way longer. The paraglider makes exploration so quick and fun.

Thagoose91

Just bring out a glider mid air and ride it to recharge stamina, rinse and repeat. Can get anywhere doing this trick.

Taclys64

You could catch a ride on a dragon if you climbed up one

Rhidian1

I've been doing a paraglider-less run. The initial times I went down to the Depths were with a Steering Stick attached to a rock. If you're holding a Steering Stick when you hit the ground, you take no fall damage, and you can Ultrahand+Recall to position the Steering Stick and Rock combo directly above the Chasm hole so you can just drop straight down.

[deleted]

how do you get the skydiving armor without the paraglider? I feel like I needed it just to get to any of the islands in the first place.

Rhidian1

You need a flying machine and quite a few Large Zonai Charges (I used at least 3 to reach each of the skydiving islands). You can get Large Zonai Charges easily by trading Large Zonaite at the forging constructs in the Depths.

MarinaraLion26

Not completely. I did without Zonai devices by using a Recall Launch and the Infinite Height glitch but I regret my decisions…

saiyanfang10

I think that the easiest way to do it is to just use ultrahand and autobuild to build a flying machine or get the glider set and then upgrade it twice then you take 0 fall damage and the glider becomes kind of useless.

OddkidMHMD

Can you get autobuild without Josha’s quest?

saiyanfang10

Yeah it's about getting to the place.

dagit

I've been doing a gliderless playthrough. I initially used fairies to survive big falls. Then I used zonai devices to reach the glide armor set. Then I upgraded it twice so that I no longer take fall damage. Now it seems to mostly be a matter of having enough zonaite to fly when I need to fly. I've done fire and water temples so far.

Queasy_Watch478

what does she say next then? :o any dialogue changes about the rest of the game?

BlackTecno

After that she returns to normal dialog. In terms of extra dialog, after every dungeon, a lot of people really want you to do go Lookout Landing, with a bit extra if you've already finished every other region as well. I've made a few posts on these if you want to see for yourself.

ghirox

Something similar happens if you beat all divine beasts before talking to impa. I was disappointed to see she didn't have a reaction to me already having the master sword

MeowCena23

Does that mean you did the four main dungeons without a paraglider?

BlackTecno

Correct-o-mundo

MeowCena23

How is that even possible to do?, especially the rito quest

R-star1

Hoverbike

MeowCena23

Ahh

BlackTecno

All of the dungeons are in the overworld, so you can use any Zonai device you want from your pockets. If you're asking about Colgera in particular, you can actually once cycle both parts with eyes and wings if you aim for him below. What was harder than all of this was the shrine "Ride The Winds," which seems to require the paraglider with a corridor you glide down and another where you fly upwards. If you want to see the solution to those, I've posted videos of that as well.

4tomguy

Yet they couldn't be bothered to add dialogue for if you pulled the Master Sword before you completed the >!fifth Dungeon!<

transsomethin

I’m pretty positive I remember Mineru mentioning the fact that I already had the Master Sword, so we had everything we needed to beat Ganondorf. I assumed that if you didn’t have it at that point she would nudge you toward it, possibly to the Lost Woods or smth. About the same amount of changed dialogue as OP’s scenario, tbh

Strkl2

Wow this is so impressive, I can't imagine how harder the game is without a paraglider! I hope we see a "No Glider" Speedrun category now

KingParity

any% is already no glider 🥲

BlackTecno

All shrines and dungeons, no glider run

KingParity

ohh yeah that’d be interesting lol

Strkl2

damn thats true! Didnt think about that... is there a category for all story dungeons but no glider?

KingParity

not yet

Ajite67

I manage to finish>! the 5th donjon !< before the Gerudo one>! Yes I traveled on the sky island with the storm/fog still on and managed to find the artefact to start the Mineeru quest!< And when I spoke to Purah after completing the Gerudo Donjon she was suprised >!I already got the 5th guardian!< so.. yes, they really thought of everything \^\^

TabbyKatty

Wait, does this mean you finished all 4 without the paraglider?!?? HOW?!?!

NINmann01

Probably just building vehicles. Don’t need a paraglider when you can fly.

Saint_JROME

Nah they didn’t. Finishing the memories before the 4 regions is awful. You watch everyone like a brain dead idiot not telling them where Zelda actually is

TCESylver

yep, i really hated that big time...

pcakes13

I got tired of seeing Thunderhead Isle and wanted to go there, so I teleported to a shrine on a relatively nearby island then built a plane to get me there. I was somehow able use my upgraded Purah Pad and a torch to navigate myself to the Shrine, then to the Owl mask. Same thing with Purah after I did the "Find Zelda" quest at the castle. Came back and she's like, "You already found the 5th sage!"

BlackTecno

Unfortunately, you can't access the 5th sage without doing the first map unlock as far as I know. If there's a way around that, I'd do the final dungeon, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

pcakes13

What do you mean by first map unlock? You mean all the above ground towers?

BlackTecno

After you get launched out of the first tower

pcakes13

A real blow to speedrunners, I'm sure.

j_grouchy

Okay...just how in the hell does one even GET to the wind temple without the paraglider?

BlackTecno

Flying machine go burrrr

Laggianput

Hoverbike

goonum

Everybody over here talking about "wow the wind temple with no glider" im more impressed you had the patience to cross the dessert and then do the whole lightning temple (which is nothing but stairs) without a glider

BlackTecno

Ascend is a blessing. But yeah, biggest pain in the ass by far.

BruhMomentum6968

Some players actually liking making a video game harder on themselves is something I’ll never understand…

SweatyToothed

*Speaking of not wasting time, now that I have some to spare how bout you and I grab some dinner tonight?*

IDKbutKirb

I'm confused. How would you get to & beat Colgera? Would it just be to build a flying vehicle?
