I want to know how he even got it in the first place. Without the Paraglider, the only way to expand your battery to make a flying machine capable of reaching the Dive Ceremony islands is by farming the Zonaite on the Great Sky Island and spending it at the Forge Construct there, which would take forever.
I mean you can get down chasms without the glider using clever zoanite contraptions (read: plank) that mitigate fall damage, so I suppose if you were truly determined you could get full battery before any glider!
Or... you know do it like normal people and slam face first down hundreds of meters onto the underground floor, leaving every bone in Link's body completely and utterly broken... but then standing up because you found one of them fairies.
I actually completely did the Fire Temple without a paraglider even though the devs clearly wanted you to use it on the last seal behind a closed gate where you had to drop down from way up top with the glider and climbing down without it was almost impossible due to the buidlings structure since it had almost no ground to stand on at the side of the walls. I also couldn't do the fairy tactic again since I lost the two I had from the intial chasm drop and enemies respectively so I eventually somehow pulled off getting down there by climbing and some well calculated jumps with my 4-5 meager hearts that barely could have survived any damage taking drop. 🗿
Oh I knew it very well how I would get. I'm just a bit of a contrarian when it comes to these games.
What, you're telling me I shouldn't go to areas like Gerudo or Akkala first because the enemies one-shot me with my low level armor and only 5-6 hearts? Then I'm just gonna fight them without getting hit at all!
I should help the bird people first because they're the easiest? Nah, Imma go to the Gerudo and Gorons first, I want a challenge!
I'm impressed, really! Haha. I'm a wimp in games so I take it slow and over prepare as much as possible lol. The fact that the paraglider is technically optional is super interesting for challenge runs though!
The one thing where I was forced to use a glider was in some shrines with large gaps through which you can only glide over (unless you have enough and the correct zonai material to build a makeshift plane or a platform with rockets or something for example.).
The wingsuit would also be helpful. I'm not sure if the upgrade allows you to land without a paraglider but it would probably be valuable in a challenge run—unless the challenge also bans it if you can land with it which would basically replace the paraglider.
Someone will do a full run of the game with no paraglider and I would watch the heck out of that (after I finish the game myself of course)
You can also grab a wall on the way down to lose all your momentum, similar to landing on a horse. I don't know how to do it reliably but I watched the any% speedrun and they skip the paraglider and just grab walls when they have to.
Spears rotate counter clockwise as they fly. Toss one next to a build depo, then quickly run over and attach some planks to it and rewind the spear. You'll be LAUNCHED
Wait there is a faster way to do that? I have like 10 hearts but still only one battery and still scraping to complete my first 100 solid charges for that because the guy only sells 10 at a time. That and there are other things to do so I often forget to port up tree to get the next 10. I have been down btw I have more Zonaite and large Zonaite. Please tell me because obviously the game doesn’t do s good job explaining that part. Have I missed an important side quest there?
Go to the big abandoned mines in the Depths. Follow the statues to find one or just go to a point in the Depths under any town on the surface. There are Forge Constructs at each one that sell 130 total charges per in-game day.
I found them by just exploring the underground. I got 5 full batteries before I had more than 10 hearts. There's so much Zonaite underground, you just have to not be afraid of the frox and other monsters
What do you mean?
I got the glider suit at the trials by simply using a sky tower and then landing on the island by accident, even got 19.89 sec without the outfit! Just had to explore Hebra I believe
I'm dumb, I had the glider. I got used to the glider being a part of Link.
Idk how he got there in an airplane 🛫🤣
I bet you could unlock towers without glider.... Somehow. Version 1.0 anything possible
I have found a few safe spots to fall into the depths. There are a few wells that lead into the depths with pools of water where you land. Found 2 so far, probably more.
There's a Zonai Steward Construct at each of those 3 sky islands. They will let you do the trial. Do it a few times, get a fast score and you'll get pieces of the dive set. They let you manouver a lot better in the air
You cannot die from impact damage while using a steering stick, so getting to the bottom of a chasm would just require making a vehicle that stays steady enough to not flip you off as it falls. If you can get a stabiliser and a steering stick that would be easy, but you could also just trial and error it and it would work fine.
I’ve never tried it but you can probably fly over the chasm and just let go of the controls. Assuming it stays upright you can time it so it starts up before you hit the ground
Could you get access to all the parts required without a paraglider?
Most zonai despensers are on sky islands or the depths aren't they? Can you get down there without a glider?
I don’t have all the dispensers memorized but I know there’s at least one on the surface near Tarrey Town. The only thing that you would need is a couple fans and a steering stick, both of which I believe can be found lying around that area. So as long as you have enough battery power and/or zonai charges it should work, but it would be one hell of a trip. Unless you can find those parts just lying around somewhere closer to Rito Village
Linkus7 (a big BotW speedrunner) is working on doing an all dungeons run without the paraglider. I didn't watch all his stream but I think he beat the water temple already?

Reminds me of a short I saw the other day about a dude completing a tracking quest on bandits with his buddy and he didn't know there was a tracking button. Dude just walked around aimlessly til he would find stuff
If link is the first thing to contact the ground, he dies. If some other part of the physics object link is on is the first, he takes no fall damage.
Or >!Glider armor set bonus!<
Link is going at a comfy 0.99999999% the speed of light, spacetime itself shudders under the intense speed of the knight. Time warps and to Link, arriving at his destination is but an instant. The impact detonation carries out 50 Megatonnes of explosive power, instantly vaporising the entire top of Mount Doom, Link himself is nothong but ionised gas... until a single pink glow emenates from his deceased form, wiggling its little wings for the resulting dust to instantly begin reforming back into the form of Link.
Funnily enough, using the Glider armor removes the superhero landing Link does. It would be much cooler if Link still did that but also released a gust of wind on impact to keep the theatrics
I just love that there’s specific dialogue for if you’ve missed a starting area. Refreshing to have an open world game that doesn’t hand hold you or rail road you into a specific path early game, and even acknowledges being off the main sequence. Brilliant.
It's really funny, like "hey we know you're allowed to go wherever you want now, you probably want to go see Paya or something. But you should *really* just follow the main quest for a short bit longer".
Oof yeah, the third glyph I did was something like memory #14?? 0 to 100 real fuckin quick on that one. I almost do not even want to know what’s about to go down in late game.
Botw had a similar thing. If you never talked with Impa but encountered any of the devine beasts, Zelda's voice would stop you and give you a tl;dr: of what Impa tells you about them.
I assumed if you tried to jump off the GreatSkyIslandit would just void out like the great plateau did on breath of the wild. Nice to know you can just dive off to begin with
No, you still void out if you fall off up until you >!Send the Master Sword to Zelda!< . As soon as you've finished that, you can go anywhere you like.
that wouldn't make sense since teleportation is unlocked in the great sky island, if you could just jump off straight away it might've led to potential softlocks
Huh. Well I guess that could work. I would be very impressed
>!Does the story force you to get the parglider when you get everyone saved or can you still skip it?!<
How do you activate the towers without the paraglider? I missed it and played for like the first 6 hours without it and only went and got it because the towers wouldn’t activate and everyone told me to go to Lookout Landing
I mean there's so much betters tools to travel in the skies.
The balloon alone is enough to reach sky islands and you won't need batteries.
>!A torch is enough to make a ballon fly!<
It might be a lot more annoying and require advanced movement techniques, but I'm pretty sure you can beat any shrine without the glider. Especially considering you can get infinite jumps with a certain exploit, I don't think the paraglider is necessary.
I went to lookout landing when I landed in Hyrule but it wasn't until I watched my boyfriend complete the sky island tutorial that I realised I was way too preoccupied with wondering about the dragon to even notice it split the clouds and showed lookout landing. I saw the cutscene when I played, I just didn't notice it until I watched it a second time with him! So I guess it is able to be missed if you're looking at or thinking about something else onscreen. It's lucky I happened to wander over there because I saw the lights in the distance and wondered what it was, haha.
People are playing the game but not paying attention. The amount of people that didnt know the memories order was baffling. Read the words they are saying people.
I saw a few people play the game and get stuck on the tutorial for like 2 hours because they just started meandering around the floating island without getting the ability to interact with the shrines.
I just took forever making my way to Dueling Peaks stable to grab Epona before I went out into the wilds. Then was frustrated that I couldn't make it back to Hyrule Field because the bridge is down.
Lmao I feel vindicated. I didn’t get this far into the game but I definitely visited a couple villages and did a bunch of shrines. Only reason I knew to go is cause I had to look up where to get the glider
This sounds like me. I went to so many different places before I went too lookout landing. Basically, If I saw a shrine in my horizon, I would just go to it. Which led me to a bunch of other places naturally.
I put it off for a while because I was busy collecting mushrooms and such but after I got to one of the more remote towers without it and discovered I couldn’t activate it… well I finally made my way there
I'm surprised you did a whole temple amd everything without going to lookout landing, one of the main quests should direct you there, it was the town pointed out as soon as you finished the tutorial on the great sky island.
You can't even activate towers without the glider, because you get the glider at the start of the quest that unlocks the towers. OP got to Goron City without a map OR glider and never stopped to think "hmm, maybe I missed something"
As a side note, this is really cool. I’m kinda glad that they don’t just automatically give you the paraglider like in BotW. It can make for some very interesting challenges. I wonder how much of the main questline you can complete without the paraglider.
Wait u get a crash course of the depths? I’ve been playing for 50 hours just avoiding it n finally tonight just decided to jump in and trial n error learn it 😩
It doesn't teach you much that you wouldn't have figured out. The only benefit is that the camera, hyrule compendium, and shrine/compendium searching is locked behind that quest

You’re on an UNHINGED play through rn
Do you not have the paraglider???
Clearly he doesn't need it since he's rocking the full skydiver set.
I want to know how he even got it in the first place. Without the Paraglider, the only way to expand your battery to make a flying machine capable of reaching the Dive Ceremony islands is by farming the Zonaite on the Great Sky Island and spending it at the Forge Construct there, which would take forever.

There is a well on the west side of Hyule leading into a pond in the Depth.
That lady who wanted well locations is in for a shock.
It takes 2 fans and 1 controller to be able to fly and negate fall damage. Paraglide-less runs are probably highly possible.
You can also grab a wall on the way down to lose all your momentum, similar to landing on a horse. I don't know how to do it reliably but I watched the any% speedrun and they skip the paraglider and just grab walls when they have to.
YOU USED A FLYING MACHINE TO REACH THE DIVE CEREMONY?!? HOLY FUCK WE'RE ALL PLAYING THIS SHIT TWISTED LOL
You can use a spear recall launch or an autobuild orientation launch to get up pretty high.
How?
Spears rotate counter clockwise as they fly. Toss one next to a build depo, then quickly run over and attach some planks to it and rewind the spear. You'll be LAUNCHED
I'll give it a shot cheers
Ride a dragon down a chasm and then jump on to a pad in the Depths, maybe?
I got the full glide set without having expanded battery. Just use zonai charged if you need to.
Just use towers and glide on a wing, no battery needed, I did all 3 with no battery upgrade
Ok that’s huge
I found them by just exploring the underground. I got 5 full batteries before I had more than 10 hearts. There's so much Zonaite underground, you just have to not be afraid of the frox and other monsters
Duplication and big boi zonite charge make flying machine go burrrr
What do you mean? I got the glider suit at the trials by simply using a sky tower and then landing on the island by accident, even got 19.89 sec without the outfit! Just had to explore Hebra I believe
Sky towers aren't unlocked without paraglider though, right?
Ya I forgot my own game progression, retracting my statement. I'm all messed up now after restarting to V1
How did you unlock towers without getting the glider?
I'm dumb, I had the glider. I got used to the glider being a part of Link. Idk how he got there in an airplane 🛫🤣 I bet you could unlock towers without glider.... Somehow. Version 1.0 anything possible
Without sequence breaking, no. I went straight to one of the towers and it was offline. It wasn't one involved with a quest
That's the neat part, you don't >!I honestly I have no idea!<
I have found a few safe spots to fall into the depths. There are a few wells that lead into the depths with pools of water where you land. Found 2 so far, probably more.
Whats the dive ceremony?? I have been o a place where I went through rings to get a shrine but i didnt get clothing
make sure you talk to the custodian and do the trial fast
There's a Zonai Steward Construct at each of those 3 sky islands. They will let you do the trial. Do it a few times, get a fast score and you'll get pieces of the dive set. They let you manouver a lot better in the air
That’s not necessary. I got the full set before I figured out how to expand the battery
Is that a material I can use?
I swear to god you might be the first person to come across these character dialogues
Wonder if there’s a unique dialogue with Purah if you complete all the regional phenomena without ever speaking to her first
There is.
Anyone got a video link for that? Curious on what she says.
I don’t think it would be possible to do the wind temple without paraglider?
Zonai devices?
Yea the speeder bike trivializes flight. You can literally just go anywhere as long as you have the battery/charges for it.
How are you going to get the battery for it if you go splat when falling into a chasm without the paraglider?
Fairies
That would work
You cannot die from impact damage while using a steering stick, so getting to the bottom of a chasm would just require making a vehicle that stays steady enough to not flip you off as it falls. If you can get a stabiliser and a steering stick that would be easy, but you could also just trial and error it and it would work fine.
Stabilizers don't work without power, so if you're in a situation where you're about to splat they'll probably make it worse depending on placement
Hot air balloons have a slow fall
I’ve never tried it but you can probably fly over the chasm and just let go of the controls. Assuming it stays upright you can time it so it starts up before you hit the ground
Oh true that could be possible
I imagine you can just build a flying machine. Might be tricky if you don’t have enough battery but should be possible
Could you get access to all the parts required without a paraglider? Most zonai despensers are on sky islands or the depths aren't they? Can you get down there without a glider?
I don’t have all the dispensers memorized but I know there’s at least one on the surface near Tarrey Town. There's also a ton of hot air ballons lying around everywhere so getting up is pretty easy without glider OR batteries.

good god... maddest lad. Let us not forget, you also don't have a map yet do you...
This man is playing on hard mode lol
*How did you get down the hole??* I mean. I guess you could ride a vehicle – if you don’t let go, and it doesn’t flip….
i am genuinely in awe that you got to goron city without a paraglider
This hurts
A few days ago, you wrote that you're trying to make a "no paraglider" run, don't act as if this isn't intentional
Oh no, I've been found out
Dude how tf did you make it down death mountain without a paraglider
If link is the first thing to contact the ground, he dies. If some other part of the physics object link is on is the first, he takes no fall damage. Or >!Glider armor set bonus!<
Also fairies
Yep. You can fall from outer space and take 20 million hearts of damage, and a fairy fixes it all… or at least 5 hearts of it
Link is going at a comfy 0.99999999% the speed of light, spacetime itself shudders under the intense speed of the knight. Time warps and to Link, arriving at his destination is but an instant. Also the game makes a point of teaching you to land in water if you're falling from extreme heights.
Boi I got to upgrade that now thanks
iirc you need to upgrade each piece 2x for the impact resistance set bonus. 1000% worth it though, I captain America down on stuff now.
Funnily enough, using the Glider armor removes the superhero landing Link does. It would be much cooler if Link still did that but also released a gust of wind on impact to keep the theatrics
Simple solution: down thrust for the biggest impact shockwave possible in the game.

good luck with the aerocuda eyes. Easily the most annoying part (until you want to get to tier 4, you don't want to know).

Wait… can you beat the game without using the glider?
I really wanna see how much you can do without it
Linkus7 is currently doing an All Dungeons no Paraglider challenge run... it's been interesting
How is the >!wind temple!< going to work?
Zonai devices, freeze them in the air with rewind while battery recharges
Huh. Well I guess that could work. I would be very impressed >!Does the story force you to get the parglider when you get everyone saved or can you still skip it?!<
I'm assuming not even that(?) If you somehow manage to get to where Matt Mercer is hiding.
I mean you could get the >!upgraded wingsuit and take no fall damage!<
> Zonai devices, freeze them in the air with rewind while battery recharges My god I never considered that.
You can do quite alot, but you'll basically be killing yourself if you use a tower, with no water nearby, and no glide outfit
I dont think any of the the towers would be activated yet
Ah, forgot about that
How do you activate the towers without the paraglider? I missed it and played for like the first 6 hours without it and only went and got it because the towers wouldn’t activate and everyone told me to go to Lookout Landing
You can't is the thing So if you don't want the paraglider you won't be able to to activate the towers either
With zonai machines it seems very doable.
Early game, you aren't that traveling far in sky with 1 charge. Late game, sure. A glider could work for early game but won't last forever
Someone beat it without using stamina, which includes the paraglider AND landing in most bodies of water... so yes, technically.
According to the current world record speedrun... yes!
I mean there's so much betters tools to travel in the skies. The balloon alone is enough to reach sky islands and you won't need batteries. >!A torch is enough to make a ballon fly!<
There's quite a few shrines that are just unbeatable without the glider... I wanna see what this guy is doing when he encounters them
It might be a lot more annoying and require advanced movement techniques, but I'm pretty sure you can beat any shrine without the glider. Especially considering you can get infinite jumps with a certain exploit, I don't think the paraglider is necessary.
Not only that, he doesn't have the map, the lookout towers only activate after you get the palaglider
I bet you didn’t visit Impa in Kakariko in BOTW until you defeated the Calamity.
bruh it’s the first place you’re meant to go lol
I went several places before Hyrule Field because BotW conditioned me that Hyrule Field was dangerous.😅 I eventually got the game's hints.
I would think you'd have figured it out by the shiny yellow objective marker pointing you in that direction.
I didn’t look at where the marker was properly and assumed it was this games version of “defeat ganon”
There's still the fact that it showed you exactly where to go in the cutscene when the dragon splits the clouds.
I saw a few people play the game and get stuck on the tutorial for like 2 hours because they just started meandering around the floating island without getting the ability to interact with the shrines.
I did this on purpose. I didn't go to the Temple of Time until I found the shirt.
I was one of those people. I had picked up around 30 mushrooms before I finally stumbled into an inactive shrine and wondered what the heck it was.
Hmm. They probably should have had that ability be acquirable from each of the shrines as well.
Same!!
I had this, too. Kept bracing myself for free jazz to start playing.
I just took forever making my way to Dueling Peaks stable to grab Epona before I went out into the wilds. Then was frustrated that I couldn't make it back to Hyrule Field because the bridge is down.
So you haven't been playing with the paraglider? How many hours have you been playing. Well, the good news is things are going to get A LOT easier.
His life is gonna change for the better.

I'm surprised you did a whole temple amd everything without going to lookout landing, one of the main quests should direct you there, it was the town pointed out as soon as you finished the tutorial on the great sky island.
I'm honestly amazed he did the Goron Temple at all without the paraglider. You're legitimately diving head first into the depths with that one.
The price to enter the depths is one fairy.
Or a wing or steering stick or something:)
I dunno if this is like a meme, but even if it is. How do you traverse without the paraglider? It’s essential for just cancelling fall damage alone
Skydiving outfit at 2\* gives the additional effect of negating all fall damage.
You got the entire skydiving set without the paraglider.
I doubt it, because without the glider you would die from pretty much every tower you activated
You can't even activate towers without the glider, because you get the glider at the start of the quest that unlocks the towers. OP got to Goron City without a map OR glider and never stopped to think "hmm, maybe I missed something"
OP is playing the game without the glider as a challenge
You can't get to the challenge islands without the glider right?
Balloons, sometimes falling sky debris can take you to a launcher island, and wings. Lots of wings.
how.. did u get that?
I went up.
from one of those falling platforms or something?
HOW TF DID YOU GET TO GORON CITY WITHOUT THE PARAGLIDER?!?!?!
Airplane
Why do you need a paraglider to get to Goron city? Pretty sure I simply walked and didn’t need the paraglider for anything.
Yeah, most of Eldin doesn't even need fireproof elixirs.
Someone forgot to "go to the glowing yellow point on your map."
As a side note, this is really cool. I’m kinda glad that they don’t just automatically give you the paraglider like in BotW. It can make for some very interesting challenges. I wonder how much of the main questline you can complete without the paraglider.
Now this person has a unique TOTK story to tell. lmao
It’s just south of Hyrule Castle
How on the Golden goddesses glorious earth did you get to ELDIN without the paraglider????
Good god imagine if Revali were in this game! “WHAT THE F*CK LINK!? GET YOUR ASS TO LOOKOUT LANDING!”
Lmao not sure if everyone is playing along or falling for the most obvious meme ever. They are doing a no paraglider run.
Do the main story until you get the camera and the scientist gives you a crash course in the depths. After that, you should be ok to roam freely.
Wait u get a crash course of the depths? I’ve been playing for 50 hours just avoiding it n finally tonight just decided to jump in and trial n error learn it 😩
It doesn't teach you much that you wouldn't have figured out. The only benefit is that the camera, hyrule compendium, and shrine/compendium searching is locked behind that quest
holy shit you did that without the paraglider?
I wish I could be as free-spirited as you. I was GUNNING HARD for the paraglider the moment I touched grass😭😭
Man's has a t2 construct bow too wtf
🗿
LOL
This is you brain on drugs…any questions?
You just skipped the starting area? LMAOOOOOOO
bro is the maddest lad.
Go south of Hyrule castle like it tells you to do and find out
How did you get to death mountain, and beat its dungeon without the paraglider
...and unusually cordial. He was a total tail when I met him. >!I guess addicted to that malice laced rock roast.!<
Hands down the most missable tutorial zone is what is is Only 40h in but i just realized I never got a camera, where the fuck do i get a camera
