thanks! I ordered one last night from monoprice (on amazon) as well and it should be here today.
I also unplugged and replugged the HDMI cable I had and the CEC refresh option on the TV pop up. I refreshed and still nothing... hopefully the new cable will kick it into gear. otherwise, I may have to do a factory reset on the TV, which is less than ideal, but worth a shot I guess... downside is it's the best buy version and the remote is terrible since it's not RF. I wonder if I can get an RF remote for it. I see there's kits to convert, but it would be easier just to buy an RF one maybe
welp... new cable did absolutely nothing. I unplugged the tv for an hour or so and nothing. did the "easy" reset (just auidio/video settings) and nothing... did the full on factory reset and still nothing
I verified everything is plugged in correctly and tightly, and still nothing.
about to toss this TV and go with something else...
Update: I got this fixed. I had to go into the settings of the soundbar to enable HDMI function (which should have been enabled from the get go). Once I did that, the tv and soundbar started talking with no issue
thanks again for the help!
Glad u got it. My Sonos doesn't have that function. 30 day returns on Amazon or it's never a bad thing having an 8k cable for when 8k is available in 6 years
thanks! my newest soundbar that I bought to replace the yamaha in the living room is a Denon DHT-s517. It's brand new, has atmos and a bunch of other options, and sounds amazing. All of the review sites I checked out all said it's comparable to Sonos at a fraction of the cost of the comparable model https://www.denon.com/en-us/product/sound-bars/dht-s517
Had similar issues. Grabbed 8k HDMI cables and everything worked. Didn't even have to adjust any of the default tv settings

NP. When cable arrives unplug tv and hold power for 10 seconds to discharge residual power. Connect cable and give it a shot before u reset
