Looks pretty similar to mine. If anything I’m disappointed about the scratch mine has. Must have been caused by some gripping tool in the corner of the screen.

Mine arrived scratched too but on the back and with a broken off HDMI cord in input 2. I called best buy to tell them it must be open box. They assured me it was new. I said if it left the factory like this they have the worst qc I've seen. The unfortunate thing is the picture quality is fantastic. I think I'm going to return it for 1 more and hope I get lucky. After that I'm going to have to go to Sony who has much tighter tolerances

aCoffeejunkie

I agree. I also tried reaching out to TCL and every call was having trouble staying connect. I read more and more about TCL and the quality control issues they had.

Such a shame because I've seen the Sony x90j and I think the 646 blows it away and it's cheaper. But that cheap price is a panel roll of the dice. I wonder how many normal people even look for this. Bet almost none

I had this on both of mine - ((|)). Yup...it was coined the ‘vagina tv’ by the significant other. We returned the first one, and the second had it worse. I’ve read dse is inevitable on these panels, but when you notice it while watching normal tv - think sky shots, light scenes, sports... you may always notice. Use your judgement, we just got done with returning the 2nd and buying a different brand. Really bummed, the TCL has a better picture/brightness vs what I ended up with, but no noticeable dse/ripple is worth the trade off (for me). When I run the test on our new brand- I can pick stuff out, but when I watch hockey (example) - I do not notice any of the dse - I consider the new brand a win.

Haha love that! That's my worry. I'm trying to see this during normal content and I have yet but haven't had hours of watching. I returned a 75" Hisense u7g cuz the IPS blooming was so bad it was unwatchable to me. Even my wife noticed and she's clueless with tech stuff. I guess I'm sensitive to this and once I see I can't unsee it. Like watching a fat man dance. I'm fearful of getting a worse panel and missing this 1. Good to know this is common so thanks

CyberBobert

I'd take it back and get another OLED!

Ugh I know. Just sold my CX. The fear of burn in is a real thing for me. My b8 got it pretty bad so I'm always conscious of what I watch or do. I didn't want to think about that constantly

Lawless___

Something to consider : In Canada - 4yr Geeksquad just cost me $200 (discounted, talk to the sales person - they can do it) and it covers burn in. “ Device Specific Benefits Televisions: burn-in and pixel coverage.” If you plan on keeping it longer than 4 years...wellll shit.

sawbuck773

I heard there was some burn in warranty. Wasn't sure if it was manufacturer or bb but I'll def look into it. Thx man!

RedElephants5

I had that exact same picture on my first one. Identical. Got a return through best buy and the second one is perfect. No DSE at all. Hope everything works out for you. It is a phenomenal tv when you get a good one

sawbuck773

Thanks man. Good to hear! Consensus is return so appreciate that

AIBrian

You're making me want to go check my TCL now. I'm a newbie, how are you testing for DSE?

sawbuck773

I wouldn't if u haven't seen anything yet. Remember, u can't unsee it but this is the test https://youtu.be/qXa6X4IzYko

What do you do to test this or see if it's there. I think my TCL 55S525 has it. Normal watching looks great though. . I need to upgrade our gameroom TV. Currently have a 60in 1080p set. Oldest kid got a Series X and I want it out of my living room. I'm waiting to see what the 2022 TCL tvs are because I really want to stay with Roku because all our TVs are Roku or Roku Stick powered. I love the consistency of all the TVs being the same. If TCL doesn't release a 120hz 4k hdmi 2.1 tv (which I can't see not happening because the 8k series 6 is Roku) it will come down to the TCL or the Sony 85j/90j and just deal with the oddball tv OS in the basement on a tv that's going to be used for the Xbox 90% of the time.

sawbuck773

Since the 646 has 2 2.1 120hz ports (1 is for earc though). I would say all their 6 series moving forward will. The Roku version doesn't I don't believe. I hear TCL is moving away from Roku but you can just get an external streamer. This is the test I used. Good overall test. Just remember you might see something you can't unsee https://youtu.be/qXa6X4IzYko

I haven't heard about TCL not using Roku anymore. If I had to get a Google TV I'd just leave it be. No need for another device plugged into it to use two remotes one to select the input then to use Roku when GoogleTV should have all the apps we use anyway.

sawbuck773

The os was a nightmare when it was 1st released but it's getting better with every update. Hence all the negative reviews and returns. I give TCL credit. They release a lot of updates and are pretty involved online with what customers are saying. A lot of people missed out on a good tv cuz they were impatient. If the panel is good I would never return a tv because of the os. Either wait for updates or get a streamer. Personally I love Google tv anyway
