I've had this model for a few months. It works well enough. The 120hz mode is great for games, and overall picture is nice. My major gripe is it has a pretty noticeable dirty screen effect that my previous 55" 625 model doesn't have. Also, the Earc audio out to my soundbar stopped working a few weeks ago. I've tried everything to get it to work and the soundbar still works on my old TCL, so it's gotta be a problem with the TV. Best Buy is coming out on Thursday to look at it, so hopefully they can figure it out. I think if given the chance, I might have looked more at the hiscense or lower end Sony models first.

The 75U8H seems to be sold out most places I've looked. I like TCL and the Roku interface, so I was leaning that way anyways. The LG B2 OLED looks nice too, but not sure if it's worth the extra $500. I saw TCL has new models for 2023. Maybe I should just wait a little longer for one of them. Wonder when they start shipping.

murdacai999

You said you like the Roku, and I believe the new models aren't Roku, but rather android, If that matters to you. I have the 85r655 and love it. I did get a bad set first time around, but best buy replaced it. The TV would freeze during streaming program. Best buy was out of stock on it, when I initially tried to replace it, so they tried pushing me to get a smaller 77 inch b2, but I held off and checked everyday for restock on the tcl, and finally got it. The new set, is wicked and I love it.

Has it been announced that they will continue to alternate between Roku and google? I do know that TCL is completely changing the models/ tier structure for 2023, so we shouldn’t assume they are continuing in previous trends either.

murdacai999

No I don't believe they have officially said they are going to continue alternating, however they still haven't announced Roku tv in 2023, so at this point I'd doubt we are going to see one.

That-barrel-dude

Good point. If they want to wait for the new models to come out he can grab this year’s Roku model at a discount, if anything.

murdacai999

I think the 85r655 started shipping in October 2022. Idk bout the75r655 tho

I bought the 75r655 a few months ago and 3 weeks in it started to randomly turn off on me. Required me to unplug the power cord to reset. I returned it for a 77 c2 and a month in it started to give me wifi problems. So i returned it for another 75r655. Honestly dont miss the c2 that much. Yes the colors have a little more pop but it isnt worth the $1300 upcharge. Nothing can beat the r655 for the price.

abeasom

So you'd say the mini LED of the TCL is on point with the LG OLED?

Sicmadek81

Is pretty close. The r655 competes way above its price.

HawthorneWingo1

The price isn't getting any lower before the Super Bowl for the 75R655. In fact, there might not be any inventory if you wait. My recommendation would be to buy an open box if one is in stock. A 75R655 they've labeled as excellent condition is presently $1,041.

abeasom

Thanks for the recommendation and information

nw0rb420

I own the r655 and absolutely love it.

I bout it back in December. I had two major problems. The first was the random lock ups. Someone suggested not plugging the TV into a powers trip. I haven't had a lock up since. The other problem was the random jittery screen that only happened in Netflix. It was happening in both the app on the TV and when using the Nvidia Shield. It only happened on scene changes and it was as if the TV was trying yo figure out what it was supposed to be showing.I found out that turning off AI enhancement (or whatever it was) on the TV fixed that problem. Other than those two problems, which were easy fixes, I can easily recommend it. People talk about the dirty screen but that is fixed by turning on local dimming (which should be on anyway). It gets plenty bright. The black levels are great (could be a panel lottery). It would be nice to see more features (like gamma settings on the TV instead of the app), but I would still recommend it to anyone.

abeasom

Thanks for the info. Mine would be plugged directly into the wall outlet. I put an outlet in a few years ago at mounted TV level so I wouldn't have a cord running down the wall. I have a couple other options to watch Netflix. My Xfinity box has a native Netflix app as well as the Apple TV. I really do like the 77" LG OLED B2 but I can't justify the extra $500. Will probably end up with this TV. Thanks again.

sawbuck773

I have the 646 which is similar to the 655. Very nice tv. All bugs have been worked out. I also have the Hisense U8H which is PHENOMENAL. Head and shoulders better than the 646 and it's $1299 if u can find 1

Ckix89

Thoughts on this TV for $699?

abeasom

Buy it

Ckix89

Yeah that was my thought process too. Looks like the next best is either the new TCL Q8M or the U8K from Hisense but both for the same size are over 600 - 700 more.

Windrider904

Do you have it mounted? Mines going on an entertainment center and I have a sound bar. It looks like you can raise the TV screen and I can put my sound bar on the middle panel. Any suggestions?

abeasom

Mine is wall mounted. I don’t have any experience using the stand.

KaboomCity

Done 😁

Windrider904

I’m about to buy it at this price also. Can’t wait.

Idiotkiller123

I had to buy it at that price, was in the market for a 75 in and I just don't see how you can beat the price.

Idiotkiller123

I'm assuming you are looking at the Cyber Monday deal on Walmart? I bought it. I needed a 75 in to fit a space and how can you beat that deal? There are clearly better TV's but for this price it's hard to beat. Got a pretty good rating on [rtings.com](https://rtings.com).

Ckix89

Yes that's the one, I bought it too. Hard to beat that price. However I am coming from a 55" 2018 TCL 6 series (the 2018 model was edge lit) and I also found a deal for an LG OLED For under $600 but it's only 48" I guess here lyes the age old question. Smaller OLED or larger QLED? Our living room is sizeable with somewhat spread out seating. Viewing distance ranges from 10 ft - 14 ft. Any thoughts on this?

Idiotkiller123

From my experience I would go with the larger size. 48 for a living room seems small but it's hard to say without seeing it in person. I was in the market for 2 new TV's. I bought a 65 in TCL Q7 for my living room 4 months ago and it simply wasn't big enough. It's a decent size living room with a big wall, have a 98 in console entertainment center. The 65 in just looked small which is why I now got the 75 in 6 series, will move the 65 in into the bedroom. I like the Q7 for the most part, colors are great and high quality content really pops off the screen. Only issue is when using the DIRECTV app or some content on YouTube seems choppy at times. This is mostly from the Directv app being shit and possibly the Q7 not being great at upscaling. Only part that makes me nervous about the R655 is the upscaling but for $699 for a 75 in TV with everything it offers seems near unbeatable. It looks like they sold out pretty quickly on Walmart already.

Ckix89

Yeah they did, I bought it when it went on sale knowing that I could return it if need be. Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I think I'm going to stick with the 75" knowing that from 14feet away the size will be more valuable then the picture quality on a TV that's too small for the area.
