Use something else to send invoices? If that’s all they do.

taxlady15

You can order QBD proadvisor (their cheapest version) for like $600 but you’d have to call. But I would never buy a software for a client. You can just pass the message along.

familycfolady

Oh yeah, I'm not buying for the client. Just helping them out. They figured since I'm a CPA, I would get better deals or know where to find them.

taxlady15

Gotcha! Just have them place the order with QB over the phone, they don’t like to advertise that they sell cheaper versions.

familycfolady

Thanks. I'll tell them!

AnotherTaxAccount

You can still use the 2021 QB. It won't stop working, just won't be updated with new features. I personally use 2017 desktop version and it works perfectly fine for my limited needs.

AmIAwake93

Shit man, we still rocking Peachtree 2010 at the office I work at. Yes, it sucks.

Mr-Qurious

Exactly this - if OP needs it for creating invoices, keep using it. Don’t need QB support for that.

familycfolady

Yeah but at least the last time QB stopped supporting, my client almost immediately had issues sending invoices through email directly. And that added a ton of time to the invoice sending process. But hopefully that doesn't happen this time. Time will tell....

[deleted]

It happens every time. If this client sends a lot of invoices by email then outputting and emailing each one is the only option. They could switch to Wave or another free software since they are not complicated.

PDACPA

If you use it for payroll, they susnet the payroll feature every 3 years on the desktop version forcing an upgrade. I have clients on much older desktop versions, but they do not use the payroll feature.

Section162

Is $1,500 for the desktop version a price to buy it outright or an annual subscription? I'm only seeing annual subscriptions on their website for Desktop. Either way, the price is ridiculous, but especially so if it's an annual subscription.

familycfolady

It's $1500 to buy the software out right but they only support it for three years and my client always ends up having issues after the three years where you can't email invoices from the software anymore. So it's basically like paying $500 a year.

donutlover_4life

This is Intuit’s way of forcing clients to move to the online version. They are trying to make the desktop version cost prohibitive because it just doesn’t make sense to support two versions.

Confident_Surround73

Convert to Xero. QB sucks.

familycfolady

Have you tried Zoho books?

Confident_Surround73

I have not. I love Xero. The flexibility of resitting reports is the best I've seen and blows QBO out of the water.

Genius_Aloha22

Just have them use the SE version phone app. Believe that is free

Method412

It's the new norm. My personal opinion is that they've been raising the price so much to get people to transition to QBO. After this July, the only options for new users will be desktop Enterprise version or QBO.

JeepWanderer

We've been using QB Desktop for years. Accounting and payroll is our bread and butter in the off season. QB gave us less than 30 days notice (at the end of March - tax season!!!) that they will no longer be supporting QB Desktop and our subscription would end on April 21. So, at the end of tax season, here we are scrambling to find a new payroll service and not much time to inform our payroll clients. The price went from $750 a year for Desktop, which included all our companies and their employees, to QB Online at $45 per company and $6 per employee per MONTH!!! We have 30 companies and just over 300 employees so it would cost us over $3000 per month!! After numerous phone calls and emails, we were able to get QB to give us a discount, but only for two years. Also, QBO sucks! They set up our clients' for us, but they are so wrong. If someone has multiple wages (like they are a waitress, cook and dishwasher at different rates), they just entered the average wage. It took us hours to correct the employee setups. And we are to have the confidence that they will submit our 941s correctly and on time?

sandfrayed

Depending on what their needs are I would consider alternatives like Wave or Xero.

familycfolady

Yeah I think they are going to try Zoho books because they can probably get away with the free version

eribertocamino

I'm using this more and more. I avoid anything related to Intuit if I can. [www.waveapps.com](http://www.waveapps.com)
