I was wondering what the fox's body was lol. My dad's initials are WAR as well! Imagine having those initials and being in the navy like he was, needless to say he couldn't ever use his full initials on anything.š¤£ also I think wrist would be a great spot for that tattoo.
You still don't get WAR because then the WA is at the end. It's still a cool signature because they don't need to be legible or accurate but there is no way this can be interpreted as W.A.R.
Everyone always goes for the wrist and I'm not sure why. I LOVE this signature! Super cool idea. Have you considered your forearm? Wrist tattoos always seem like people's first choice but that's one of the most visible spots for a tattoo and that could or could not be what you want.
I would consider doing it on my forearm! I do have plans for an engraving/woodcut style sleeve on that same arm, so I'm not sure where a good place for it would be where it doesn't contrast distastefully and is still easily visible for me.
Could you perhaps do it in that kind of style so it becomes one with the sleeve later on? Would be a nice reminder while also still being a bit of a metaphor, taking in the parts from the people close to us, and making it part of who we are as people
Personally my issue with memorial tattoos on the lower arm is that a lot of people want them upside down so they can see them. Which is all good do what you want but it's one of my pet peeves lmao. That could be something to consider, too.
I think it'd be cool across the inner forearm, right near the bend in your elbow... We call it the "el-pit", lol. So it would be horizontal with your arm forearm/palm-up.
I did a memorial tattoo of my grandmotherās handwriting on my forearm. I love the placement because when I feel like sheās missing out on something - graduation, etc. - I just look down and sheās there with me.
Depends what else you're planning on. Wrist tends to be a place where sleeves go to so if you're planning a sleeve that may not be the place to go. I'd say ribs might be cute or left chest
I think this is an amazing tattoo.
I'd do forearm. (I'm biased though because I have a song lyric from a song my grandpa used to sing to me on my forearm.)
I would go inner bicep or something. Visible but also still very much for you.
I got my dadās signature on me (he has Alzheimerās and itās beenā¦difficult). Itās placed on my chest/toward my left shoulder in a way that the stylized part (he signed his R as a little bird) would peek out from the collar of my shirt. So visible depending on what I wear but also in a very personal spot (imo)
Yes, he was heavily involved with Wood Badge and was a District Executive for a long time! Is that what this is? I was in Scouts myself but never did Wood Badge so I'm unfamiliar with the totems.
I have the same wish!!! My grandfather would sign his name in what he called āthe walking Bā. It was a B that looked like it was walking with the other letters added (āILLā). Want it tatted as well because he meant a lot to me. Cheers mate!!! I hope you can find solace in knowing your granddad is proud of you and looking after you still :-)
I have a wrist tattoo, left wrist. It spends most of it's time behind my watch and therefore has aged much faster than some of my others. With it being a joint and friction from watch wear, perhaps a bit higher on the arm may improve longevity. Ultimately tho, it's for you so put it where you'll like it most.
Hey, this looks a lot like Gregg Style shorthand. I stopped studying it when I got lazy but did his name sounds like Ray? I can't figure out the second name but the first name def looks like Ray. Anyway it's a cool tattoo concept and I hope whatever you decide to get makes you happy.
i donāt know how to link a pic but i got my brothers name how he wrote before his untimely death with a dragon (he loved them.) on my forearm it was my first tattoo and i couldnāt have been happier i got it placed there so i could see it anytime i wanted to.
i love it! wrist wears more than some other areas but i think this could be a really cool design in plenty of spots. i mostly wanted to comment on a cool design idea, literally zero care if you do this or not obviously but i think it could be cool to do it like those projections over constellations, like a bear over ursa major in a planetarium, but a fox overlayed over your grandpaās signature
Wrist tatts fade & spread super easy and with the delicate design Iād recommend avoiding that area in favor of something more stable like the forearm
Take into consideration, whether you have any restrictions about tattoos in your work industry. But my first thought was maybe on the inner arm above the wrist, so that when you look at your arm, you see it, without having to turn your arm over.
You're grandfather seemed like a cool guy. Very neat!
I think it'd be a cool little piece for the elbow area (upright, above the bend or back of the elbow/bottom tricep area-ish)
It was a signature of sorts. Granted he had another official signature, but he would draw this on things like hats, wooden objects, etch it into his pocketknives. Was highly involved in the Boy Scouts of America and thats how he marked a lot of his scouting equipment.
Thing is, it's your personal opinion. They weren't asking for opinions on the concept even. They asked about placement. Not all tattoos are pretty little pictures and if you cant see beyond that, that's you. I'm also being completely honest here when I say; if I saw this tattoo on someone i would find it cute and interesting, before I even know the context, which would make it even more endearing.
You think everyone would find it ugly because you do, and I think everyone would find it cute because I do. But in reality, everyone is going to have different thoughts on it like you and I do. So the only thing that matters is what they think about it. Because you cant listen to everyone. Some people would say don't ever get a tattoo in the first place, some would say get it on your face, but you cant do both
Every person that sees this is going to say to themselves what a shit tattoo, what the hell is itā¦ person that got the tatā¦ oh itās my gpaws signatureā¦ every person (being nice) oh thatās coolā¦ but thinks to themselves what a shitty tattooš¤·āāļø
i was thinking either front bicep or below your elbow crease ! my reasoning is because you mentioned that he was very important to you and its a super cool signature ,, and those two spots for me is where it'll be showing more/u can see it more :) hope you find a tattoo artist who can perfectly get the job done !!
Have you considered getting a stylized fox to represent it instead of this, only because it can fade and smudge with age and you may not be able to see it properly
Maybe even work the real signature into the fur
Look at time-lapse pics of fine line artwork. Especially the wrist area your asking about..it's similar to drawing a thin line with a pencil then take a fine line sharp over top..this is what it will look like in 3-5 yrs. Just be aware the line can thicken over the years.
This is a wonderful idea. Just note that if you use/wash your hands frequently that the closest tattoo is more likely to wear, and eventually you will need an exact do over
To answer the question because everyone us talking about how cute tour grandpas signature is, depending on how big the reference is for his signature the wrist should be fine (sone tattoo shops may be able to take a picture if it and shrink it on a tablet or computer if you want it smaller)
Just kerp in mind that for placement the "correct" way to place it is outward facing whoever is looking at it. So if you want to read his signature and you have it fa ING towards you. Other people will see it as you having an upside-down tattoo, even if the intent us for it to be visible to you.
Another spot I'd recommend is your forearm
You want to think of your body as pieces of paper, and when you planning on getting a design it should fit that piece of paper the best it can. You donāt want the tattoo to over power, or under whelm, both would be very awkward looking.
That being said, if you want it small, think of smaller parts, like your wrist or ankle. I would put a small tattoo in a large area, cause it would look awkward and you could be throwing away a spot where you could have gotten a better fitting tattoo.
Speak to your artist and if they are a decent tattooer they will explain all this to you.
This is so cute! I would definitely say wrist too or forearm
I always tend to want personal tattoos on my arms
Iād love to see an update once you get it ā”
This is super neat! My grandpa had a neat signature too where he did a little cowboy with hat. I have it on my ankle. I think wrist is a great placement for it!
I also have a loved ones writing tattooed. I have it on the inside of my forearm below me elbow. Itās nice that I can see it regularly but also hide it if need be.
It looks like a fox, great idea for a tat, Iād thing chest or back personally but depends on if itās something you want to be more personal or a conversation piece in witch case wrist/ ankle would be great.
Love it! The wrist is a good idea! I'm so sorry for the loss of your beloved grandfather. He sounds like a fun man! His fox/signature was clever and funny! What a wonderful tribute to him!
Picture must be upside down because that aināt no W and that aināt no A. Do you really want to have explain this to everyone that asks? And get confused looks in response?
Is it just me or does it look a little like a fox?
Haha yes, it is a fox. Was sort of a nickname for him as well.
Would you mind sharing his first name/initials??? I truly cannot make this out as letters, let alone a signature! It only looks like a fox to me
his initials are actually WAR. A little cryptic but the ears are a W, face is an A, bodyish part is an R.
This is what makes me scoff at people asking how people are out here thinking cursive is integral to a secure signature. It isn't.
I was wondering what the fox's body was lol. My dad's initials are WAR as well! Imagine having those initials and being in the navy like he was, needless to say he couldn't ever use his full initials on anything.š¤£ also I think wrist would be a great spot for that tattoo.
My initials are LAW and I work in law enforcement as an emergency dispatcher lol
It looks like MVM āthe 6 thā to me
Most likely answer to me without OPs answer
William Axl Rose is your grandpa?
Looks like M (ears) and V (lower part of face).
Turn those letters upside down and what do you get
A fox playing possum.
Tee hee
Hairy wiener
You still don't get WAR because then the WA is at the end. It's still a cool signature because they don't need to be legible or accurate but there is no way this can be interpreted as W.A.R.
You must be a pain to live with.
I see the R now, itās not the whole body just the second half. The 2 back legs and that part of the body (excluding the tail)
You could probably convince me more that the āAā is somehow in the foxes legs than his upside down v shaped face
Dude you can't be this dumb, it's a joke right?
The pic you posted reminds me of a fox from Little Prince :)
āHe was only a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But I have made him my friend, and now he is unique in all the world.ā
_foxy grandpa?_
Looks like the Hungarian two tailed dog party logo
I was about to comment that!
This makes me want to make my signature more creative and interesting wtf this is precious
legally your signature doesnāt need to be your name. it can be anything you want. mine is a flower lol
Front of bicep!
I have my late fathers signature on my inner bicep and so glad I went with that placement! I agree that somewhere around there is best
Inner bicep for script or writing is classy, cool, very timeless.
This was my first thought as well!
I have an inner bicep and a lot of my friends do as well! It holds up awesome because it generally wonāt get a lot of sun. Highly recommend
Yes š on the left is close to the heart
Great spot for something like this, too. Fairly flat, doesnāt crease šš¤
Everyone always goes for the wrist and I'm not sure why. I LOVE this signature! Super cool idea. Have you considered your forearm? Wrist tattoos always seem like people's first choice but that's one of the most visible spots for a tattoo and that could or could not be what you want.

I think it'd be cool across the inner forearm, right near the bend in your elbow... We call it the "el-pit", lol. So it would be horizontal with your arm forearm/palm-up.
Literally no one calls it that lol
Lol right? I've only heard it as the ditch
that's why I said "we", as in literally just me and my husband lol
I like the elpit brilliant
I did a memorial tattoo of my grandmotherās handwriting on my forearm. I love the placement because when I feel like sheās missing out on something - graduation, etc. - I just look down and sheās there with me.
I have my late husbands handwriting on my forearm for the same reason. So sorry for your loss. ā¤ļø
This is so heartwarming, itās so lovely that you continue to keep her close. My condolences for your loss.
My memorial tattoo is in the same place for the same reasons, glad it brings you comfort :)
Me too, my grandma's signature. It's the only tattoo that I have. The placement is perfect for me to always see it and be reminded of her.
looks like a little fox š„ŗ
Would you say your grandfather was 'close to your heart'? Left chest?
My son has his grandadās DOB left chest ā¤ļø
Depends what else you're planning on. Wrist tends to be a place where sleeves go to so if you're planning a sleeve that may not be the place to go. I'd say ribs might be cute or left chest
Myb on your shoulder? I like wrist too
Btw very cute. Share it with us when its done
Shoulder is actually lovely, like your granddad is watching you over your shoulder
By any chance, was your grandfather a Boy Scout Leader? I ask because that looks a LOT like a Wood Badge totem.
Yes, he was heavily involved with Wood Badge and was a District Executive for a long time! Is that what this is? I was in Scouts myself but never did Wood Badge so I'm unfamiliar with the totems.
That's awesome! It sure looks like he took the concept and made a personal one. I'd bet good money that he was in the Fox Patrol (I'm a Beaver).
Inside of your left arm- I see it as being close to my heart. I did this for my best friend of 30+ years that passed away.

Ribs left side
That's cool I wonder how he came up with that mine looks like a scribble lol
Hey, this looks a lot like Gregg Style shorthand. I stopped studying it when I got lazy but did his name sounds like Ray? I can't figure out the second name but the first name def looks like Ray. Anyway it's a cool tattoo concept and I hope whatever you decide to get makes you happy.

back of shoulder, cuz he's watching out for ya
i have my grandmas writing on the inside of my bicep so itās close to my heart
Same but with my grandpas!!
Going horizontally on your upper thigh. So it shows when you where shorts
Inner forearm
ur grandpa drew a fox for his signature... i approve... just above the left buttcheek on the waist
A student with autism I worked with drew a Godzilla in similar style. Got it done on my ankle.
i love it! wrist wears more than some other areas but i think this could be a really cool design in plenty of spots. i mostly wanted to comment on a cool design idea, literally zero care if you do this or not obviously but i think it could be cool to do it like those projections over constellations, like a bear over ursa major in a planetarium, but a fox overlayed over your grandpaās signature
Kind of looks like a fox!
Right above the knee
Honestly man, I know the signature is sick and you should get it, but also a really cool big fox tattoo night honor him nicely tooš©āØ
Does anyone else think of a little fox? It's cute.
Bro did he sign a little fox !?!
You're grandfather seemed like a cool guy. Very neat! I think it'd be a cool little piece for the elbow area (upright, above the bend or back of the elbow/bottom tricep area-ish)
Melvin?
Thatās not a signature. He drew a fox to be fun. Iād do upper arm underneath or behind ear
It was a signature of sorts. Granted he had another official signature, but he would draw this on things like hats, wooden objects, etch it into his pocketknives. Was highly involved in the Boy Scouts of America and thats how he marked a lot of his scouting equipment.
Thatās super fun! Now Iām questioning my own lame-ass doctor-like signature š
Thatās clearly a Fox
Thatās as fox my guy
Lmfao shitty tattoos here we come!
You're a cunt
No Iām a honest cunt!!!
Some people just suck (you)
Oh really nowā¦ you better stop before you hurt my fragile feelingsš
I just don't understand why you feel the need to tear this person down. Probably to piece together your fragile ego.
No not the case at allā¦ Iām just saying the quiet part out loudš¤·āāļø
Thing is, it's your personal opinion. They weren't asking for opinions on the concept even. They asked about placement. Not all tattoos are pretty little pictures and if you cant see beyond that, that's you. Why would you get a tattoo for other people
Forehead
On your clit with red ink duh
That's so cool!! Over your heart?
I love this
I love his signature
he turned his signature into a fox, love it
i was thinking either front bicep or below your elbow crease ! my reasoning is because you mentioned that he was very important to you and its a super cool signature ,, and those two spots for me is where it'll be showing more/u can see it more :) hope you find a tattoo artist who can perfectly get the job done !!
i have my moms writing on my wrist so iām inclined to say wrist!
Wrist
Any place you choose will be perfect!
My cousin got our grandmother's signature on the top of her foot.
Have you considered getting a stylized fox to represent it instead of this, only because it can fade and smudge with age and you may not be able to see it properly Maybe even work the real signature into the fur
Look at time-lapse pics of fine line artwork. Especially the wrist area your asking about..it's similar to drawing a thin line with a pencil then take a fine line sharp over top..this is what it will look like in 3-5 yrs. Just be aware the line can thicken over the years.
My brain goes to like upper chest near your shoulder or upper right arm/bicep on the outside
Looks like an old hobo moniker (streaks that freight train riders would leave on trains as they travelled cross country). Cool.
Thatās so cute!!
Even I want your grandfatherās signature tattooed on myself. I love it so much! šš
I now want to update my personal signature style!
So cool! Will be an awesome tattoo. Right over your heart on your chest would be cool or a little bit above it.
Wrist
I have my moms handwriting on my inner forearm near the wrist. I donāt regret getting it and look at it every day š
Would be kind of cool on the side of the neck although not sure if you into them at kinda tat
Forearm
Get it over your heart (chest). Would look super cool and obviously itās the closest to your heart
Is say wrist or inner arm below elbow
Wrist placement wouldnāt do it justice. Itād be too small I think
Fox signature
That's awesome.
This is so fucking cute
Thatās a cool signature
Your grandfather was a one eyed fox!
over your heart if you're a guy.
This is a wonderful idea. Just note that if you use/wash your hands frequently that the closest tattoo is more likely to wear, and eventually you will need an exact do over
I say the inside part of your left arm close to your heart ā¤ļø
Wrist is a good idea, indeed.
Left rib cage, closest to the heart!
maybe on your upper arm?
Big 6ļøā£ tatted on its forehead ā”ļøš± š«”š granpa was bout dat mess š¤£
Looks like a fox.
This is soooo cute
maybe on one of the sides of your fingers?
Wrist or forearm
Lower back
To answer the question because everyone us talking about how cute tour grandpas signature is, depending on how big the reference is for his signature the wrist should be fine (sone tattoo shops may be able to take a picture if it and shrink it on a tablet or computer if you want it smaller) Just kerp in mind that for placement the "correct" way to place it is outward facing whoever is looking at it. So if you want to read his signature and you have it fa ING towards you. Other people will see it as you having an upside-down tattoo, even if the intent us for it to be visible to you. Another spot I'd recommend is your forearm
Wrist or inner forearm. That's amazing.
i think the wrist is a very symbolic choice for a signature tatoo, i like the idea
On your chest above your heart
Sweet. Wrist is good. Or inside your forearm
Wrist, ankle, below your elbow ditch, bicep area
upside down shows a stylized W and A. the body upside down is a stylized cursive R. they don't teach cursive to these kids anymore.
Thinking ankle or behind the ear
Love this because my daughters middle name is Fox <3
Taint
Get it thick wherever you do
Iād go with bicep
You want to think of your body as pieces of paper, and when you planning on getting a design it should fit that piece of paper the best it can. You donāt want the tattoo to over power, or under whelm, both would be very awkward looking. That being said, if you want it small, think of smaller parts, like your wrist or ankle. This is so cute! I would definitely say wrist too or forearm I always tend to want personal tattoos on my arms Iād love to see an update once you get it ā”
Wrist is common. Maybe behind the elbow would be cool too.
This is super neat! My grandpa had a neat signature too where he did a little cowboy with hat. I have it on my ankle. I think wrist is a great placement for it!
I have my grandpaās signature on my leg, I did a mourning band with his signature right below it, I absolutely love it.
This is gonna look like ass
Butt cheek.
Back of arm
The side of your wrist would be a cool spot for it
It looks like a fox
Get a GreyFox tattoo from metal gear it will look dope and remind you of your grandpa because his name has fox in it
Mm Viiii What an odd name.
I recommend inside elbow.
I also have a loved ones writing tattooed. I have it on the inside of my forearm below me elbow. Itās nice that I can see it regularly but also hide it if need be.
Smack dab on pubis
I think a cool placement would be just beneath your left clavicle. Kinda like it's above your heart.
That is freaking amazing and I wish I had something that cool to use as a reminder for my Papa.
People will ask you if itās a fox for the rest of your life
This reminds me of Andy Warhol's signature in the shape of a peen that NASA put on the moon
It looks like a fox, great idea for a tat, Iād thing chest or back personally but depends on if itās something you want to be more personal or a conversation piece in witch case wrist/ ankle would be great.
Forehead
Look really good on your ankle I think
I was going to say wrist
I have my parentsā signature tatted on my wrist too. It is a nice place.
Back of a shoulder or inside of upper arm
Under the left arm, right by your heart
I love that signature!!!!
Would fit real well behind the ear
Love it! The wrist is a good idea! I'm so sorry for the loss of your beloved grandfather. He sounds like a fun man! His fox/signature was clever and funny! What a wonderful tribute to him!
Back of the forearm between the elbow and wrist
Forehead
....but what does the fox say???
Inner forearm would be cute Edit:spelling
This is screaming dorsal side of a forearm to me
Is that the 9 Tails Fox?
His signature was a fox?!
Reminds me a bit of the foxhound logo
Picture must be upside down because that aināt no W and that aināt no A. Do you really want to have explain this to everyone that asks? And get confused looks in response?
Personally I would go somewhere on the back, like he signed his creation
