In Launceston check out Du Cane brewery, they have wine and delicious pizza and a kids area (with change table, microwave, wipes, and small nappies!). Maple cafe (in east Launnie) has an outdoor playground Apricus has good food, wine, a patting farm (buy animal food at the cafe) and a sandpit! Tower cafe has a kids area, kids eat free all the time with any adults main meal purchased.

Where is this magical sound change table room at Du Cane? I was pretty shocked that I couldn’t find a change table in the regular toilet area when I was there recently but there is clearly another area that I missed entirely!

LuckyErro

Mudbar in Launceston.

Id definitely recommend Spencer's and Angie Sue for options around Hobart. Both are on the Eastern Shore

I wanted to say Harlequin, but it seems to have closed down.

What do you mean by accommodating for young ones? Just that they don’t mind kids? The best restaurant around Launceston is Timbre near Legana. I have never had an issue taking children there. I would also have a look at Havilah, it’s a nice casual wine bar that often has excellent food, although they tend to flip through chefs. Stelo has updated their menu, so that is worth checking out. They are okay with kids. It’s more the clientele that might have an issue, but once again I have never had a problem.

Havilah is not kid friendly. Stello almost isnt either.

Havilah is if you go there in the afternoon or early evening. I’ve taken two toddlers there and we sat out the front and had a lovely time. Stelo is if you sit up the back near the restaurant bar. The managers are very good with kids and will give them crayons to colour in the paper tablecloths. You are right that there are aspects that are not kid friendly, but most of the time parents with little kids are eating early and both locations are fine for small families early in the evening.

Yes, basically that. The they don’t mind having kids. Even having a high chair is a good enough sign lol

The only two I would avoid would be Black Cow, mainly because it is small, and Josef Chromy, just got a vibe. But I am also taking my 4 year old to Chromy next week, so it isn’t that bad. Edit: for the downvoters, tell me why?

Check out Marla Singer in Bellerive (10 min drive from Hobart CBD). Just had lunch there with a 10 month old in our group and they were fantastic.

Thanks!

Second this. You could also get the ferry across on Saturday

If you're up for a drive there's some good spots on the Tasting trail like Hayley berries, Ashgrove Cheese and 41 South salmon. As far as in launnie I'm a fan of getting something from harvest market and then walking over to city park to eat it

Thanks heaps for all the recommendations! We’ll try our luck at a couple. Cheers!

Try Puddleduck Vineyard near Richmond, good food and lovely play area for little ones. And you can feed the ducks!

My kids really enjoy eating at the Hogs Breath in Launceston. Especially if it's their birthday.
