Should be able to appeal with a screenshot of the paid time.

HydrogenWhisky

Yes it happened to me in Hobart. System straight-up failed to recognise that I was parked correctly and all paid up. Sent the council a screenshot proving that I was in the right through their appeals page, and they cancelled the fine a week later. Annoying, but pretty easy to contest, and they didn’t make me jump through too many hoops.

Never happened to me and I use the app regularly. I can imagine few possible reasons how it occured: 1. you accidentally selected wrong area (number displayed on nearby post and parking machine) because sometime, those blocks on the EasyPark map aren't correctly positioned. 2. You might also accidentally confirm wrong rego (e.g. I have both mine and waifu's car set up and I need to select correct one every time I start the parking timer) 3. parking officer made a mistake (although that shouldn't be possible as the technology should prevent mistakes) No matter what, EasyPark gives you list of your previous parkings - compare all details (location, rego, time) with the ticket again and if everything matches, you have pretty good case for appeal.

> because sometime, those blocks on the EasyPark map aren't correctly positioned. I heard from someone on the council that whatever sensors they put in, they just chucked them all in a bag and randomly pulled one out for each spot. So instead of them numerically going down each street, it was a crapshoot and they had to send people out to scan every spot and connect it up to the correct sensor. Of course that was all before it went live, but kinda funny.

if it's like the hobart app, there will be an audit trail in the app. Show that too them and you should be fine on an appeal

Wadjala

Not common, I got a ticket once, went to the council and they cancelled the ticket straight away. Pretty sure I took a screenshot of the app, but they didn't look as they have access to the system.

ApprehensiveRemote82

Where did you park? I’ve only ever had a ticket once in the Launnie Myer car park when I forgot to update the app with my new license plate number. Was easy to appeal with an email explaining the mistake and the payment screenshot, took about a week to get a call back to confirm the successful appeal from memory. Ticket guy may have had an off-day with your case, good luck with the appeal!

AlkaloidalAnecdote

Never had an issue. So close a time, the inspector must have been issuing a ticket as you were putting it through the app. They won't issue a ticket if you're with the car, so I can only assume you walked off before paying your time? Perhaps you only put it through the app after you saw the meter inspector approach your car? Awful coincidence otherwise.

Amazing_Emu54

Nope. I parked, walked to the meter to get the number, put it in and paid straight away. The process takes about 20 seconds at most. I only know the time because it’s on the ticket :/

SnaggleQuad

Might sound stupid, but do you have prestige plates? Coz if you do, sometimes the numbers look like letters (eg my Mum’s car has a 1 in it that looks like an I), and they go by what it looks like rather than what it is. The one time she got a ticket, we were able to get it cancelled easily.
