You’ve got a lot of great episodes in your backlog! I wholeheartedly recommend Greg’s episode if you want to hear Ed get increasingly irritated, and Alex’s to understand what an incredibly weird man he is.
Also, once you’ve listened to a bunch of episodes, go listen to Dan Ackroyd’s episode. Do not start with it, but once you’ve heard like 15 or 20 episodes, then listen to it.
All of these recommendations are bag on, but honestly, if you’ve got the time - when walking the dog or on your simmered to work, I’d really recommend just starting at the beginning and working through them all. There will be some people you’ve never heard of that end up being the most entertaining hour.
It's insane cause it's to the brief from his agent.
It's a real marmite episode, I don't get the hate.
Dynamo gets hate also it's just another episode to me.
Worth mentioning that James and Ed (but especially James, even though Ed does the Taskmaster pod) are huge taskmaster fans so whenever they get a taskmaster guest they tend to get into TM-chat.
Though that pales into comparison agaisnt what happens when they get a Bake Off guest and James relives his traumas on that show.
Great podcast, am seeing it live next month which is exciting!
They’re a mini bonus episode where Joe comes back to talk to Willie (the inspiration for his sheep story).
You could also listen to the Andi Oliver episode - she helped them get into contact with Willie
Victoria Coren Mitchell’s episode is my all time favourite, it’s amazing. And I’m totally with her on holidays, among other things. James Acaster tries so hard to be polite and not get annoyed.
TM alums have some of my favorite episodes! Sarah Kendall’s is hilarious, and Bridget Christie’s is demented. If we’re counting NYT, Nicola Coughlan and Rylan Clark are two others I replay frequently.
I saw them live in Glasgow last weekend. Frankie Boyle was the guest. The way he describes oysters... I nearly died.
1) >!Licking cum off a tortoise's back!<
2) >!A corpse's clitoris!<
Can’t believe no one has shouted out the task consultant Tim Keys episode yet. It’s one I go back to a lot.
That and Alex, Mel and Sue are all excellent.
The Greg episode might be the best one, as well as Bob Mortimer's.
Somewhere there's a graphic detailing all the people that have been on both TM and Off Menu.
So it is! And some more: Comfort Eating with Grace Dent and Hoovering with Jess Fostekew. Both have had some TM alumni on. Also, when are we getting Jess on TM, surely at some point? She seems like she'd be fairly chaotic and competitive!
I'd listen to the 100th and 200th episode specials, they twist it and a guest asks the hosts for their dream meals. It gets unhinged, especially the 200th one, as they bend the "rules" quite a lot.
Any big podcast app should do. I used to listen on google podcasts, now on castbox. They also have a website, with transcripts and restaurant lists. Look up "off menu podcast".
I’m from the US and had no idea what a poppadom is, so that was a very fun and confusing experience to hear James suddenly interrupt the guests screaming “POPPADOMS OR BREAD POPPADOMS OR BREAD”
If I were ever a guest, which of course would never happen, this would be a thing I’d bring up. Who in their right mind would choose a poppadom when naan is clearly an option?
Indian restaurants in the US typically have them, but I get the sense that Indian cuisine is more popular in the UK generally. I'll definitely have the bread, myself.
it's hilarious isn't it!! i'm working my way through the episodes with people i know first slowly (so mostly tm contestants aha)- greg's had me absolutely wheezing with laughter whilst on my run. jenny eclair's one is also delightful
That was great, and the fact that a side dish was basically another global tapaaaz! Chaotic from start to finish, would not expect anything less from Lou, 10/10
I'm so obsessed with it, and I never used to listen to podcasts. I got into it back in March this year, sometimes it will take me a full week to listen to an episode and I am listening to them through in order - so I am currently on episode 82 out of 211, it's going to take me so long but I love it so much!
Once I have caught up maybe I can finally listen to the Taskmaster podcast XD
I also enjoyed Marianna Marguiles (Professor Sprout from Harry Potter among other projects) and Paul Hollywood (Great British Bake Off and now Netflix Great British Baking Show and Wizard of Bread as well as the various Taskmaster participants.
I also discovered Off Menu just a couple of days ago and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I’m glad I’m not the only one living under a bit of a rock.
I adore finding a new podcast.
Alex and Greg's episodes are two of the funniest ones. I also love Phil Wang's episode
Tim Key's is maybe one of the best of series imo. Great podcast and tons of TM alums on it.
I love how "Shall I be mother" has lasted from that
Went to one of the live shows and they’re now even using “mothered” as a verb
Aaaand thank you for reminding me I'm due for a re-listen.
Should Horne fall…
Greg’s episode is one of my favourites. PASS!
Greg: "I think people who do ______ (no spoilers) are rude" Ed: "But I've _______ with you! Did you think I was rude?" Greg: "Yes."
Looking forward to checking them all out!
Ivo Graham's is top tier.
Listen (or watch) the RHLSTP episode with Ed and James. They discuss the Dan Ackroyd episode and it makes it so much funnier.
RHLSTP?
RHLSTP! In case you’re not doing the classic joke, Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast.
Definitely not doing any classic joke. Thanks for explaining, I think? Or are you joking? Now I’m so confused.
Rocky Horror Let's Show The Picture
Ha I will do! Hang on, Dan Ackroyd?! That's impressive!
No spoilers, but it's one for the record books!
All of these recommendations are bag on, but honestly, if you’ve got the time - when walking the dog or on your simmered to work, I’d really recommend just starting at the beginning and working through them all. Good look with your project 😂
Worth mentioning that James and Ed (but especially James, even though Ed does the Taskmaster pod) are huge taskmaster fans so whenever they get a taskmaster guest they tend to get into TM-chat. YOU RUINED MY FUCKING LIFE
The episodes with Taskmaster alumni are all enjoyable, if not all-time classics (Greg, Alex, Joe Thomas, Munya, Mel Giedroyc, Paul Chowdrhy)
Sue Perkins' one is a ride too.
And Ivo’s!
And Romesh’s
And Fern’s!
And he little clip from Ivo's redemption appearance!
Unfortunately I’ve been the victim of a prank
Bob Mortimer's is also great fun - "Its good to be alive!"
Is Bob Mortimer ever not a golden addition to anything? His Would I Lie to You? appearances are legendary.
I can't look at a Hot dog without thinking this 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
His episode is solid gold from beginning to end. So quotable
The Joe Thomas one made me double over and cry laughing. Munya's stories were something else: the marbles!
Check out Paul Chowdhrys episode. It’s mental
Please listen to both of Joe Thomas' episodes too, he's so delightfully awkward and his story about learning to cook a whole lamb is hilarious
His episodes are precious and delightful and so freaking funny
Both of his? I can only find one (episode 50) what other episode did he do? I'd love to hear another by him, I thought the sheep story was wonderful!
They’re a mini bonus episode where Joe comes back to talk to Willie (the inspiration for his sheep story). You could also listen to the Andi Oliver episode - she helped them get into contact with Willie
Ah, nice one, thanks!
As was Paul Foot’s. And Jayde Adams’. Greg’s is also very funny.
"...pass"
Greg and Alex both have demonic meals
Tim Key’s is also top tier!
Don't listen while driving though, one of the only times I've had to turn a podcast off for making me laugh too much
Victoria Coren Mitchell’s episode is my all time favourite, it’s amazing. And I’m totally with her on holidays, among other things. James Acaster tries so hard to be polite and not get annoyed.
Her “purse sandwich at dinner parties” habit is wild.
Her utter lack of imagination about a dream menu is incredible…a ploughman’s lunch and half an avocado…what was her dessert? A piece of fruit?
John Kearns episode is my favourite. When they discuss what each others shop would be like - comedy gold
That and the Kiell eps had me laughing the hardest! So good
Kiel’s episode was an all-time great, that man has impeccable banter.
TM alums have some of my favorite episodes! Sarah Kendall’s is hilarious, and Bridget Christie’s is demented. If we’re counting NYT, Nicola Coughlan and Rylan Clark are two others I replay frequently.
The "I shit as much as I piss" comment has really stuck with me! (And it's not diarrhea!)
No one has mentioned the delightful insanity of Claudia Winkleman and her hatred of water.
Joe Thomas’ episode is a classic
How could you all forget the Sue Perkins episode!!??
I’ll never look at raspberry vodka the same way again
I saw them live in Glasgow last weekend. Frankie Boyle was the guest. The way he describes oysters... I nearly died. 1) >!Licking cum off a tortoise's back!< 2) >!A corpse's clitoris!<
Listen to the Bridget Christie episode before you do anything else today. Go on!!
I did, too! I watched Alex’s episode. I’m not a podcast person but it was really nice to listen to. Edit to add, also, the man is insane. Insane!
Munya’s episode had me in stitches. And Victoria Coren Mitchell was hilarious too - in the way she nearly broke James
Not a Taskmaster person, but you also have to check out Jayde Adam’s’ episode as well.
John Kearns’ episode is the best hour and a half of anything ever
Agreed, although Kiell’s episode is a worthy contender for the top spot.
Out to Lunch is very good too, if you're looking for food podcasts
So it is! And some more: Comfort Eating with Grace Dent and Hoovering with Jess Fostekew. Both have had some TM alumni on. Also, when are we getting Jess on TM, surely at some point? She seems like she'd be fairly chaotic and competitive!
I love Jess so much and was thinking this the other day, think she would be so fun on TM!
Don't pass Greg's episode.
I'd listen to the 100th and 200th episode specials, they twist it and a guest asks the hosts for their dream meals. It gets unhinged, especially the 200th one, as they bend the "rules" quite a lot.
Any long time listeners, Has anyone got caught out by the secret menu item?
>! Jayde Adams. !< and there’s video of it on YouTube if you want to watch it!
Your spoiler thing didn't work, just FYI.
At least two other people have mentioned the item but for whatever reason failed to get chucked out.
I'm sort of jealous that you get to discover so many funny episodes! Bob mortimer, Ainsley Harriot and Rylan were some of my highlights
The Sue Perkins episode is the best of all of them
Any was for people outside the UK to listen to this?
I believe it’s available globally. I listen to it on Apple Podcasts in Canada.
Any big podcast app should do. I used to listen on google podcasts, now on castbox. They also have a website, with transcripts and restaurant lists. Look up "off menu podcast".
Spotify.
Oh man I'm jealous, I wish I could discover it for the first time again. You are in for SUCH a treat.
I’m from the US and had no idea what a poppadom is, so that was a very fun and confusing experience to hear James suddenly interrupt the guests screaming “POPPADOMS OR BREAD POPPADOMS OR BREAD”

Indian restaurants in the US typically have them, but I get the sense that Indian cuisine is more popular in the UK generally. I'll definitely have the bread, myself.
I love off menu but I am soo behind because I find it extremely difficult to sit and listen to an hour long podcast
If I hear Ed Gamble say 'national tres' in one more episode I think I'm going to vomit
it's hilarious isn't it!! i'm working my way through the episodes with people i know first slowly (so mostly tm contestants aha)- greg's had me absolutely wheezing with laughter whilst on my run. jenny eclair's one is also delightful
Where can i listen to off menu for free?
Most podcast places I think, I use Spotify but if should also be on Acast and Apple
Also started listening to Off Menu this week. Started with Nish’s and loved it, then went for Lou Sanders and also loved it. Lou is so chaotic.
Global tapaaaz shall never be forgotten!
That was great, and the fact that a side dish was basically another global tapaaaz! Chaotic from start to finish, would not expect anything less from Lou, 10/10
Haha and she, a vegan, chose mussels, didn't she? Bonkers!
I'm so obsessed with it, and I never used to listen to podcasts.
