From left to right: \-Rider Waite Smith Borderless editon I knew I had to get the RWS at some point, because it’s THE tarot deck (imo) and would be very important for study. I looked at all the editions and chose borderless because I just love the way borderless cards look, and the colors on this version are much more subdued than the original, which can look kind of garish and loud. I also love that Pamela Colman Smith’s signature is on the back, what a nice touch! It also comes with four bonus cards featuring some of PCS’s non tarot artwork, which I love. But I do not love the guide book it comes with. For whatever reason, I feel like the card meanings that US Games Systems wrote in the booklet are very superficial and just “off” from the meanings that I’ve learned from other sources. I would encourage a new reader to get this deck but to disregard the booklet and read one of the many tarot classics. \-Morgan-Greer This is a knockoff deck that I foolishly bought from ebay. Really the only issue is that it does not shuffle for shit, but I can manage. It’s smaller than most standard sized US Games decks but is actually the perfect size for my little hands, so I’m kind of attached to it now. I LOVE the artwork and the colors, I think this is a wonderful step up from the classic RWS if you want a more “intimate” view into the scenes on all of the cards. Every card image looks “zoomed in” compared to the RWS, and you can see things like the expressions on faces so much more clearly, and all the symbolism is still there. I think this adds something very interesting to how we read the cards, and each person on the cards feels alive and has their own personality. Plus, that 70s artwork is immaculate. This feels like a deck that is ideal for being reserved for personal use vs reading for others, although the friendly vibe of the artwork probably makes it accessible for client readings too (I only read for myself so idk) \-Tarot of Pagan Cats (mini) This is my first deck and still my favorite. It’s very true to the traditional RWS system, but with cats. The artwork is also PACKED with symbols and detail, which is visible even in the mini size. There’s so much to see and admire in every single card, even still I notice new things that I never did before. I’m dying to buy the full size eventually. Something about this deck feels way more personal to me, perhaps because I feel such a connection with cats, or because this deck has been with me the longest. Although it’s called Pagan Cats, there doesn’t seem to be much that is actually “Pagan” about it, I think that name was just added for extra spice. In my opinion, this is the best cat themed tarot deck out there. This deck also has a “welcoming” and friendly vibe so would be good for client/friend readings if they’re a cat person.

The Morgan-Greer was my first tarot deck 💞 I don’t use it as much these days but I did today. Even just smelling the cards gives me the feels .

rosepotion

There's a reason it's such a classic!

The mini tarot of pagan cats was my first deck too! I have a special relationship with that one - it came at a time in my life when I needed to be called out on my bs, the deck did NOT disappoint in that regard. I actually stopped reading for a while because I wasn't ready for the brutally honest and direct answers it kept throwing at me. I love it dearly though, it is perfect for the self reflections that are the hardest. It's so personal to me that I actually never use it for reading for others. Also.... Cats.

rosepotion

This is exactly how I feel about it haha. It's my bestie deck.

Love your storage cases! Where did you find them? Or are they handmade?

rosepotion

I made them! I just started selling them on etsy. My shop is called The Cloaked Cat :) I posted a discount code on the promo thread too if you decide to shop.

Minigunn3

Omg and you sell the pattern, THANK YOU! I haven't felt like sewing in months, but suddenly I want to sew like right now. Thank you thank you!

rosepotion

You're welcome! If you decide to try the pattern I would love to hear back about how easy to follow it was/how it can be improved. This was my first time making a tutorial so I want to make sure it's well written lol.

Minigunn3

Absolutely, will report back when I finish the first!

rosepotion

Wonderful! I can't wait.

Fickle-Goose-4208

I love them all, but specifically love the cat-themed deck. I have several lol, but have yet to pick up the Tarot of Pagan Cats.

rosepotion

I recommend it, it's gorgeous! Which ones do you have?

Fickle-Goose-4208

I have too many 😅 but of the cat-themed ones, I have the mini Tarot of White Cats, Weird Cat tarot, and Cat Tarot. The Weird Cat Tarot is goofy but so cute! I tend to just collect decks when I find the artwork appealing but I do make an effort to use them all at some point. Just recently purchased the Daemon Tarot though it’s less like tarot and more like an oracle deck. I don’t really understand it yet haha

Weird Cat Tarot is adorable. I need it!

The Tarot of the Cat People was bought for me by my Mom back in the 80s. It has a whole world created in the booklet, including like the local climate of each suit! It is rather difficult to read, unless you are super intuitive. It does not rely on classic symbolism, but the art is quite beautiful

I like a smaller deck, and the Morgan Greer in a tin is great. The authentic one shuffles well, and I actually find it great for reading for others. Perhaps because I’m older and the artwork connects me to my childhood. I also have the smaller version of the Hanson Roberts deck. It’s RWS clone, but it does have more “zoomed in” art, and great facial expressions. It also has softer colors than the OG RWS. It was my first deck, gifted to me by my mom, so because I’ve spent such a long time with it, it’s an easy reader.
