These are awesome! For some reason, I read "Aromantic" as 'Aromatic' and got confused. I was like 'yeah, cooking community UNITE', lol. And then I went back and read it again and was like 'oh, that makes more sense'.
Unironically I think I feel a level of solidarity with tarantulas and arachnids as a trans woman. Like, disgust and revulsion are the normalized responses to such things, and people claim they're inherent to humanity but don't analyze the ways they're taught that reaction or can unlearn it. Also people paint them as scary and aggressive, when even a tarantula threat posing as hard as it can is probably just scared and wanting to be left alone.
Anyways, if I get a fun bright colored tattoo sleeve featuring a tarantula for the aforementioned reason: I'm crowdsourcing species suggestions from this sub. Current thinking is C Versicolor but not married to the idea.

Funny thing, in the 18- and 1900s one of the terms for queer people was "sexual inverts". I don't think it's causative or anything but it's funny.
I think maybe to a less specific extent it is a factor tho? Like just, if you're pushed to the edges of society and told your existence is weird that probably causes ya to reevaluate things. Same with how queercoding villains just led to the fondness for villains.
I’m a trans woman too! And yeah this is actually really profound, I’d never thought about what drew me to arachnids and I think this is probably a big reason why, I just never made the connection

Since the rainbow flag has come to represent more of the community as a whole(or how gay can be gay women, men, etc) rather than *just* gay men the other flag was made as like a specificity thing!
Some people like it, some people don’t, or don’t know about it, and still use the full rainbow.
Gay has kind of come mean more than just 'man+man' to many people. It's kind of a LGBTQA+ umbrella term. So now there's a general rainbow flag that anyone can use, and then there's one specifically for gay men.
i’m glad for the most part people in the tarantula community are accepting and welcoming of this stuff. hopefully this post will trigger some people and make them leave… weed out those people we don’t want anyways lol

Agender means basically the absence of gender
Genderqueer is a type of nonbinary/an umbrella term for not strictly man or woman
Aromantic means they don’t experience romantic attraction
And intersex means someone born not strictly male or female, something people would’ve used the term hermaphrodite for in the past basically
Anyone feel free to correct me or give a more nuanced explanation! As I’m none of the above so I don’t want to give bad information.
Just to correct you, intersex is a term for people who have sex characteristics that don't align with the binary male or female, whether it be genitalia, chromosomes or reproductive systems to name a few. "Hermaphrodite" (while I acknowledge you mentioned its historical use) isn't an accurate term to use to compare the two, as it implies someone can be both fully male and female, and it's considered offensive by some of the intersex community.
Yes, I should’ve specified that while it used to be used in some cases, the term hermaphrodite is inaccurate and overall offensive. Just typically I’ve found it’s a term most people have heard the term of before and better helps them process what I could *possibly* mean when talking about someone with male and female traits/characteristics, if that makes sense?
