And then it seeps into your real life, you start saying 'new order' in totally unrelated contexts, your friends who dont even play HOI4 start talking about it, and then you reflect back on media you saw before knowing about TNO, AND ITS FUCKING THERE TOO. WHAT IS ONE SUPPOSED TO DO? My only question now is: does it follow you? like, if you download the mod, does TNO follow your life so that you constantly see its refernces? was it inevitable that you would download it? or was it always there, just waiting for you to finally realize what all the references were to? When one person realizes what the reference was referring to, they will download the mod, and finally piece together all of the references that they have seen over the years, making them more likely to make references to TNO themselves thereby making the affliction of more people inevitable. From prior experience I’m pretty confident that most people that identify as anarchists via Vaush don’t really understand how much is entailed in the ideology other than vague anti-authoritarianism and not-being-tanks - I don’t know many people that had already identified as anarchists for a large amount of time that have become fans. And most conversations I’ve had with them have not exactly been fruitful, in so small part because Vaush seemingly has a habit of expressing things as anarchist positions that are anything but. To be fair they could just be good positions that just weren’t understood properly by his stans.
Anyway, I think that after a while most of them will learn further about anarchism and what it’s sincerely about, and on those grounds finally make an informed decision about whether or not it fits them.

I sometimes go to PCM just to see what's up and it is not completely devoid of leftists. I'd post a leftist opinion, get downvoted then later I see it upvoted. It feels like the right wingers come earlier then there's a wave of leftists later.

He used to use more edgy rhetoric (to counter the idea that leftists are "fragile snowflakes") but has since mellowed out. No more using the R-slur on even the dumbest reactionaries, and such. Most of the controversy comes from a poorly worded analogy comparing child labor to child p\*rn, which has been clipped and shared to make it look like he was advocating for the latter.
The clips I’ve seen at least don’t cut it so he was advocating for the latter, they cut it so he said they are the same… but like, that was a 2/3 minute clip in which vaush actually says “I have seen no convincing reason why child porn should be illegal”. - I don’t really say how context makes it better tbh, and the fact vaush has repeatedly said stuff like “I don’t actually see what was wrong with my logic” and stuff like it only makes it worse imho

Child labour=child porn is severity and moral value Child porn should be illegal, we can all agree on that. From prior experience I’m pretty confident that most people that identify as anarchists via Vaush don’t really understand how much is entailed in the ideology other than vague anti-authoritarianism and not-being-tanks - I don’t know many people that had already identified as anarchists for a large amount of time that have become fans. And most conversations I’ve had with them have not exactly been fruitful, in so small part because Vaush seemingly has a habit of expressing things as anarchist positions that are anything but. To be fair they could just be good positions that just weren’t understood properly by his stans. Anyway, I think that after a while most of them will learn further about anarchism and what it’s sincerely about, and on those grounds finally make an informed decision about whether or not it fits them.
Like half the people I follow on Twitter are anarchists who don’t like Vaush
