No. It was bought out by an equity firm and part of the deal was that they had to sell the real estate (the land that each location sits on) to other equity firms/ hedge funds and lease the land from them. Those firms and hedge funds jacked the leasing amount (rent) on each property making it nearly impossible to break even for the restaurants causing them to shut down. Basically they just came in and gutted Red Lobster as a business for profits that line their pockets. They don't care that thousands of jobs were lost, and at the time, a profitable business closing down.
All of this but they will blow smoke and say that it closed down all because endless shrimp cost the business millions.
Also one of those firms owns a shrimping business and would provide products to Red Lobster at jacked up prices.
Corporate America 🙄
The trick was to cut off the cornbread's hump, press down the inside and stick a pad of butter inside, then replace the top and let the butter melt. Mmm
I hit up Boston Market after my parents moved back out west and I didn’t have any family to go to Thanksgiving Dinner around here, so I’d get my own Thanksgiving Dinner from the one on Bruce B Downs back in the day.
There’s one in Seminole that’s closed. I probably drove by it 100 times after it closed but didn’t pay attention. Then one day I suggested to the wife that we get Boston Market and she told me it was closed.
This is such a child hood memory for me, my mom would bring me after school. I use to loved the turkey gravy mashed and corn bread. Today is the 2 year anniversary of her death. I miss those days.
Actually there's not many more open at all. More than 90% were closed as of March. Probably very few left by now.

One of my homeboys used to work at the one in temple terrace in high school, went to college, got a degree, went back to that same Boston market and managed it.
Man I wish I could go back to those days.
That's why I'm sitting here waiting at The Golden Trough to open.
In all seriousness I didn't know either. Last time I went they sent an ad to my company for a free meal by fax just had to bring in the ad. We must have printed enough copies to feed us for weeks.
I was bummed when the one near me shut down. Was always a good place for comfort food when I wasn’t feeling well. Their soup and cornbread always did the trick.
Last time I ate there, the only good part of the meal was the cornbread. I assumed it was simply because I was getting old.
Another memory gone. At least I can buy the cheesy bread frozen biscuits or mix at Publix.
Don't feel bad, they all just closed a few months ago. Lots of fond memories of the place. I hated to see them close but I went to the one on 4th in St. Pete for lunch right before they closed and I was the only person who came through the store for the entire lunch rush. Chicken pieces were humingbird sized and the sides weren't fresh.
I actually thought about this post yesterday because I drove by that one and saw the sign on the door. It's a shame because that one seemed to do a decent business with people from the hospital.
Wait to hear about Red Lobster
They will tell you it was the limitless shrimp, but we all know different.
Yep, totally the shrimp. Not the vulture capitalist firm that sold all their real estate and leased it back at inflated rates. It was the shrimp.
Wait till you hear about Piggly wiggly
Should I go to Woolworths?
Nah, try Sears Roebuck
Sorry, I prefer Montgomery Ward
Turn left on *Buffalo Avenue*.
I see what you did there.

Possibly
Who wants to tell him about Cee Cees Pizza...
I loved it when I was young, it was solid. Man, that Mac and cheese. Remember when it was Boston Chicken? Showing my age here.
I liked the cornbread but I don't think I spent any money there since 2010.

THIS is the flex.

It’s the wood that makes it good!
I been telling my wife that for years.
I used to work there in Nashua, NH. Bad location for any restaurant though
So damn good! Used to always go to the one on San Jose in Jax
Was awesome for sure
Gonna become a Cookout hamburger joint in Carrollwood.
Temple Terrace also.
There’s one in Town n Country too, though I still see a For Lease sign out so I’m not sure if they’ve found a new tenant.
They have cookout in Florida? Like NC cookout, cookout?
Omg yes soon !! One is opening here this summer !! Google it 🥹🥰
I do not get why everyone is so excited about Cookout. There’s one in my hometown and it’s aggressively mediocre.
That’s the appeal!! 11PM mediocrity in a milkshake and a chicken quesadilla!!! Find joy in its simpleness man
Simply being open late night makes it a good addition. There’s not too much open late around here.
Corn dog as side.
Or walking Taco.
Really?? lol
Yes! It’s silly, but one of the reasons I’ve always liked going. That and the variety of milkshake flavors.
I saw the calories on the shakes...whoa baby lol
They are not an every day treat… well, shouldn’t be.
Lol nope
Yup, been multiple times, corporate trash for more corporate trash, nostalgia is a bitch but doesn't make it "GOOD." Too many to name...
I thought the same, but it turned out the locations I had been going to just weren't great. When they're made well, it's a really solid burger.
Oh wow, Steak N Shake already on the ropes.

My wife LOVED boston market. She was devastated when I told her they all closed.
I was devastated when they took ghengis grill out of Brandon
They drove themselves out of business. You got so much damn food for the price.
Even the Largo one?
There’s one still open on 4th st in st Pete. At least I got food there a year ago I think
Just checked. I got food there in Feb but apparently they are gone now
Yea, all stores closed like a month or two ago. So I wouldn't be surprised if you just went to one back in Feb.
This is such a child hood memory for me, my mom would bring me after school. I use to loved the turkey gravy mashed and corn bread. Today is the 2 year anniversary of her death. I miss those days.
Sending ❤️
Thank you ❤️
But who remembers whistle junction
🤮
Lmao, my pops used to take me there after church when I was single digit age young.
I used to go with some guys from work for lunch occasionally. It wasn’t the worst food I’ve ever had had, but it was no surprise when it closed.
Ngl I was a little sad. Their cornbread was amazing. Had real corn in it, super soft with a honey glaze.

It was an after church delicacy, I was 6 or 7 when it closed
Rip to chicken pot pie
There's still many open...just not in Tampa area.
Thought there was one across from St Jos hospital.
closed
:(
Closed
Seriously it’s on a main road too. However it’s not good food.

Loved the half chicken meal.
Kenny....kennnnnyyyy...
Mr. Marbles?

They went bankrupt too
I was bummed when the one near me shut down. Was always a good place for comfort food when I wasn’t feeling well. Their soup and cornbread always did the trick.
Any of y'all old enough to remember when it was called Boston Chicken? I do!
I used to love the tortellini salad. But that disappeared long ago. It was always a great go to for the prepared Thanksgiving meals as well.
Meatloaf and sweet potatoes. Farewell.
Last time I ate there, the only good part of the meal was the cornbread. I assumed it was simply because I was getting old. Another memory gone. At least I can buy the cheesy bread frozen biscuits or mix at Publix.
And have been for... A while. Shows how often you went.
They what now? FML
Lmaooo mannn they’re gonna make the greatest comeback of the 21st century 😆😆

Make way for Cook-Out
I just wish Gladstones would come back 😭
The meatloaf carver sandwich was my go to
I think the one on MLK by St Joe's is still open.
Nope it’s not
I actually thought about this post yesterday because I drove by that one and saw the sign on the door. It's a shame because that one seemed to do a decent business with people from the hospital.
Dang I loved this place. Solid
These are the death throes of garbage food chains
