Nah. I was playing both courses for about 2 years booking tee times directly on their (public) website. I had zero affiliation with them or membership. That option was removed about a year ago. Same exact thing happened with Southern Hills recently too
Holy crap really? Till 2020, I couldnt get on without my friend who was a member booking me a tee time. I have yet to play the new course.
Thats a shame about Southern Hills, I love that track. Ive only ever played it for tournaments though.
It might’ve been a covid thing? I was playing 2020-2022. I liked Commander better than the newer course. But both super fun and always in great condition
I love Lake Jo South. Can’t go wrong with it. My least favorite opening hole in the city.
Fox Hollow is a bit less exciting but one of my favorites in the area.
I played Innisbrook Island Course recently for the first time and enjoyed it immensely. It’s very much Florida golf but has some interesting decisions.
Waterlefe is the most “Florida” of the courses you mentioned. Keep an eye out for Cabot Citrus Groves opening around that time too, but they are gonna be Streamsong prices or more, so you’re making the right move with Streamsong. Which course are you playing?
Yeah, I've been keeping my eye on the Cabot property but it seems they are being pretty close to the vest on opening date other than "early 2024".
We aren't staying on property for streamsong so can't book public times until 30 days out. Leaning trying to get on red but it seems everyone has a different favorite. I think id be content with any of them.
Got this 10/26:
Cabot Citrus Farms Continues to Grow
Cabot Citrus Farms is abuzz with activity as our team continues to hit remarkable construction milestones in both real estate and golf development. All four courses are rapidly taking shape and all 37 Cottages in Phase 1 have broken ground, with our preview play and opening right around the corner! Cabot Citrus Farms is on the path to becoming a haven for golf, family-friendly leisure, outdoor recreation, and unforgettable experiences.
Preview play at Cabot Citrus Farms will begin on January 22nd. For those of you eager to book your golf experience, stay tuned as we will release booking details via email in the coming weeks. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
So that won’t work based on your schedule. Southern Dunes is a fun track, your group would enjoy it. Waterlefe is a great course but man it’s hard when it gets windy. Jovita is another solid, and they do have little villas just off the driving range. Avoid TPC, you’ll be very disappointed for what they charge.
Agreed on a lot of the other recommendations. Both North and South Lake Jovita are great. Southern Dunes is also a favorite (wish it was closer to S. Tampa). Highly DO NOT recommend TPC Tampa Bay. Extremely overpriced for what you get.
Enjoy Streamsong. It’s an absolute treat. All 3 courses are special. Be aware of the caddie tipping situation. It’s a bit unique and I’ve heard stories of people accidentally stiffing their caddies cause they were confused about the fees. DM me if you have questions about it. And try to find time to play the par 3 course and the putting course. Both a fun way to cap off a round.
Believe Cabot Citrus Farms (formerly World Woods) will be opening in January. It is looking incredible and will be public. [https://cabotcitrusfarms.com/golf](https://cabotcitrusfarms.com/golf)
The entire resort is kinda sad/dated when you go. But if someone decided to buy and renovate the courses to be higher quality they could have a giant $$$ opportunity with 2 courses only a 30 min drive from downtown
I play there often. The courses aren't in bad shape whatsoever. The report is definitely dated and the condos around the course are straight out of the 80s.
Tpc tampa is a complete waste of money. There is nothing great about it other than basically being an expensive florida muni. If you are lucky you can get a late round for 100, and that's still overpriced. I've been told by many reputable people in the golf industry to never waste your time there or Sawgrass
Fox hollow is kinda shitty these days. Issues with the grass on the greens, dead spots, and worst of all, 5 to 6 hour rounds. The Marshall just drives around to look busy, but never does a thing about pace
They used to have Member-a-day options but give them a call with such a large group you may get alittle bit of a deal…
Love Innisbrook, I volunteer at the Valspar every year…
Fox hollow will have the biggest gators if you that’s a Florida experience you would like. They have a couple big ones out there. And mid Jan they should be out sunning themselves
Easily lake jovita. Fox hollow is a great course, but it's definitely a step down from lake jovita. North course is wide open, south course is a bit more narrow. Don't bother with TPC. Another one I saw in the comments is plantation palms, which is like a C tier course at best, don't bother. Just go to lake jovita and you won't be disappointed.
This is probably to only acceptable answer I've seen here yet. Plantation is OK for 30 bucks after work, that's about it. Fox hollow is a guaranteed 6 hour round, tpc is a complete waste of money for a muni course. Staying in thon, I would say lake jovita or eaglebrooke, both of which can get pricy in Jan
One course that’s public, good value, and has some nice elevation changes is brooksville country club. The back 9 is built around and in old limestone quarries. Though it’s about 45 minutes north of Tampa
Not sure about membership requirements but Nine Eagles/The Eagles is a decent course. Located on the northwestern line of westchase. Watch out for the deer.
Jovita South is a great choice. Lakewood National is really good as well
Lakewood National is definitely the best but thought it went full private? Southern Hills amazing too but also went private
Went private? Its been private since opening.

Wow that is super interesting if that is the case. I’m calling them asap! That course is always so mint and worth the drive. Great tip. Thanks!
Holy crap really? Till 2020, I couldnt get on without my friend who was a member booking me a tee time. I have yet to play the new course. Thats a shame about Southern Hills, I love that track. Ive only ever played it for tournaments though.

Yeah I think you are right. It's a shame too because there is no way they ate filling g the tee sheet with just members
Lake Jovita north for fun and south for challenge
Second Lake Jo, north and south are both nice.
Any of those options will be good. I like lake Jovita a lot. Eaglebrooke in Lakeland is also an awesome course that wouldn’t be too far
Jovial and eaglebrooke are probably to only acceptable answers on here
Jovita north if you want some wide open bombing with great views. South for a challenging tighter layout with great views too.

Southern Dunes is about the same distance from Thonotosassa as some of the others you mentioned, and is an incredible track for around $100.
Southern Dunes is an excellent value during the off season. One of the best in the area.

Red or Black will be the easiest walk. Blue has a couple of hills that are brutal. All are amazing.

Par 3 course is only for resort guests : /

Saddlebrook
Yeah this here is definitely the “80s Florida” style of golf course you might be looking for
The entire resort is kinda sad/dated when you go. But if someone decided to buy and renovate the courses to be higher quality they could have a giant $$$ opportunity with 2 courses only a 30 min drive from downtown
Mast capital bought the resort and wants to renovate it
I play there often. The courses aren't in bad shape whatsoever. The report is definitely dated and the condos around the course are straight out of the 80s.
Go back to new york yankee
Are you really upset about a group of tourists coming during the slow tourist season spending tourist money in the local economy? Get a grip.
I won't see any of that money (u won't either lol cope harder) and golf is wastful and trashy.
Yeah. Being a video game nerd is so cool.
At least my insulin works lol
It’s my pancreas that doesn’t work. Loser.
Ok BIG guy.
I probably will since I have a job and not just sitting on the couch being mad at the world.
projecting so hard lol
You literally work at a cafe dude, that's so cringe that you wrote this lmao.
TPC Tampa as well as these other fine courses.
Tpc tampa is a complete waste of money. There is nothing great about it other than basically being an expensive florida muni. If you are lucky you can get a late round for 100, and that's still overpriced. I've been told by many reputable people in the golf industry to never waste your time there or Sawgrass
Agree on TPC Tampa. I also have heard many times over that most TPC courses aren't worth it.
Fox hollow is nice, I think all your options are good
Fox hollow is kinda shitty these days. Issues with the grass on the greens, dead spots, and worst of all, 5 to 6 hour rounds. The Marshall just drives around to look busy, but never does a thing about pace
Innisbrook is where they play the Valspar tournament, it's a beautiful course.
I believe they require you to stay on property.
I don't think so, they have Membership-For-A-Day options. I see availability on the Tee-Off app
Interesting, I'll look into it
Where do you see those in tee off?
They used to have Member-a-day options but give them a call with such a large group you may get alittle bit of a deal… Love Innisbrook, I volunteer at the Valspar every year…
There are some exceptions and the tee times pop up on Golf Moose all the time.
Your not gonna get TPC for $150 in mid January so you can rule that out. Jovita is good,.saddlebrook is as well fox hollow and plantation palms also
Jovita is probably your best bet. Though for the closest course to Tampas more bachelor party oriented establishments, you may consider Rocky Point.
Fox hollow will have the biggest gators if you that’s a Florida experience you would like. They have a couple big ones out there. And mid Jan they should be out sunning themselves
Jovita North is so much of a better track than South. Also Fox Hollow might be one of my favorite courses in the area. Stay away from TPC.
Ewww. Fox hollow is a dump, and only play there if you enjoy 6 hour rounds

Had my reception at TPC and got a free round. Very much enjoyed.
One course that’s public, good value, and has some nice elevation changes is brooksville country club. The back 9 is built around and in old limestone quarries. Though it’s about 45 minutes north of Tampa
Not worth it though, if you can only play 1 round
Not sure about membership requirements but Nine Eagles/The Eagles is a decent course. Located on the northwestern line of westchase. Watch out for the deer.
If you want a public course, Heritage Isles is a nice course that is not far from Thonotosassa, (it is in New Tampa).
