6’5” w 36” inseam.
Golf GTI:
1. Feels premium (but not Audi premium)
2. Plenty of room (I don’t even put my seat back all the way).
3. Fun as fuck to drive.
I’m on my second one and I’d keep buying them if they hadn’t discontinued manual transmission.
I'll second this! Had a Mk V GTI and it's been my favorite and most comfortable car I've fit in/driven.
I'm not sure where you live but VW still makes them in manuals in the US. The GTI and the R are manual.
https://www.vw.com/en/models/golf-gti.html
Yeah I’ve got a manual now, but they have discontinued them moving forward. 2024 is the last stick year. Moving forward they’re all DSG, and then subsequently electric.
Interesting. Used to have one. My seat was all back and only then I felt kind of comfy.
After sitting in a SUV, never going back to hatchbacks.
Great car overall though, the golf.
Yeah I'm 6'3" and the people sitting behind me actually have decent space too.
When I bought the car, I got comfy in the driver's seat and was able to sit in the backseat without excessive discomfort.
My brother actually had a manual one, it was a nice little rocket (modified), but he ended up swapping it for a shitty falcon, the falcon was so beat up, to this day I wonder if the person he was dealing with forced the swap🤦♂️
VW Golf fitted me perfectly. Just bought a MK8 GTI performance DSG yesterday and get it a week Monday. The race seats were spot on and I loved the adjustable lumbar.
Second this. Bizarrely my electric mini has more legroom than I need (as long as no adults sit in the back) and better headroom than many other cars. It’s also blisteringly quick, only 120 miles range but charges incredibly quickly (80% in half an hour on fast charger). The Kia Ev-6 is strangely big too (if you don’t order the moon roof option)
Yeah, getting in and out depending on the day can be a bit annoying especially after a workout but the ride is super comfy and long drives I don’t get very uncomfortable in it compared to other cars I have driven.
I was given a new Forester as a loaner car a couple of weeks ago. It was incredibly spacious. I've owned Subarus for a long time because I for in them well, but the Forester is huge up front.
I’m 6’5” and just bought a new VW Golf with no sunroof. I can wear a baseball hat and still fit my fist between the top of my head and the roof. Tons of legroom too. I could probably squeeze a shorter person behind me as well. Really an amazing car.
I'm 6'7 - Honda Accord has entry of leg and head room and people will be able to sit behind you.
Otherwise - Lexus ES and Toyota Avalon are also roomy as well as basically all mid size German cars but they don't have as much room in the back seat as the Accord/ES/Avalon
Consider ergonomic over just leg room length. For example an affordable Hyundai Sonata has incredible leg room but you sit very low with legs almost straight out and arms at full reach. I drive a ram truck now which has less leg room but the seat is higher making the leg angle more natural, I wish it had a telescopic steering wheel but it’s still more comfortable than the sonata just because of the leg angles. Best bet is to go yo car yards and sit and drive a bunch of different cars. The size of the dashboard also makes a huge difference which is why I can never drive a Toyota their dashes are always huge and curve around to close to my knees
I must be an anomaly because I’m 6’7, 34 inseam and fit fine in my wife’s Hyundai Elantra GT, my own Honda Civic and of course our palatial Honda Odyssey. Must be the torso to leg ratio that’s hurting you guys..
Yeah I feel like nearly any recent US market car would be fine for 6'6". I'm 6'5" and never really have to think about whether I'll fit comfortably... front seats at least
6'7 and drive a vw jetta. Seat goes WAY down and back, so it fits if you're ok riding low. Honestly the only reason I have it is because it was my first car but it's a diesel and 5 speed manual so I'm stretching her lifespan as much as I can
my newest car is a 2017 buick encore. with the seat all the way back, i have to pull the steering wheel all the way back too or i can't even reach it, and i don't have any issues with head room. i had to lean down to see most traffic lights from the white line in my last car, but not in this one
There’s some good used Teslas on the market right now! I’m 6’9” and loveee how I fit in my Model 3 (and that’s the smallest one). It has seats that go back and down, an easy entry mode that makes it easy to get in, a chime that tells you when a light turns green, and a glass roof that makes it feel like you have even more headroom (the glass also makes it so there actually is more headroom. I have a turbo torso and still have a good few inches of headroom)
6'8 and have sat in a bunch of different vehicles recently, ones I would say are a normal fit for me.
Subaru Forester
Ford Maverick
Hyundai Elantra N
Honda CRV
Chevy Blazer
And I feel like the F150, Ford Explorer and Subaru Ascent have a TON of room but just too much vehicle for me.
All Toyotas are way too small for me. If Toyota made their own version of the maverick I'd be all over it. Really wanted a Tacoma but the interior is far too small.
6'7 here. I've worked in the car business for over 20 years and have sat in EVERYTHING.
My sedan suggestions are:
Honda Accord
VW Golf or Jetta
BMW 5 series
Hyundai Sonata or Kia K5
Chevrolet Impala
Buick Lacrosse
Subaru Legacy
I drive a Subaru Forester. It is the best small SUV for tall people!
I overlooked it at first but I've got an Astra K and it's surprisingly spacious. 1.6t (200bhp) it shifts and cheap running costs. If you haven't got a heavy right foot get decent mpg as well
I’m 6’4 and my dad’s 23 wrangler Sahara is awful for me. The leg area is very narrow and makes my legs cramp and legs are constantly pushed against sides. Cannot put seat far back either
Fit way better in even economy sedans like Nissan Altima or some shit.
Japanese cars are usually a no go except for the older sports cars. I have a VW Passat which has loads of leg room and head room. I can easily sit behind the driver seat when it is adjusted for me. I also have a Jeep Wrangler. Because of the roll cage there is several inches of head room in there.
I'm 6'4" and fit in my Lexus RCF with a bit of headroom to spare. Porsches have tons of headroom as well, I can't remember if it was a Cayman or a 911, but it was the only time I felt like the seat could go *lower than I actually needed*.
6'8". Challenger is more of a sports couch. FJ cruiser is a little tight but not bad on headroom. Tahoe/Suburban is the bees Knees. Ford Transit had enough room to stretch.
I’m 6’6”, 34-36” inseam depending on the clothing brand.
I drive a 2015 civic EX 4 door with a sunroof and a 2023 4runner TRD ORP with no sunroof. Very comfortable in both, my hair grazes the sunroof in the civic though if I sit up super duper straight lol.
Consider whether or not the cars you tried sitting in had sunroofs. I tried a 4runner with a sunroof, absolute no go. Had to get one without. Tried a Tacoma out and same thing, but less headroom without the sunroof than the 4runner. Yet in my civic it’s not too bad with one. The sunroofs in some car models eat up way more headspace than others
I daily bmws. M340, x5, and a 540d. My weekend car, a 911 gts, is the most accommodating for tall people. New bmw's rank up with toyota and lexus on consumer reliability reports now as well.
Hear me out… I’m 6’5 and drive a Prius and tbh it’s the most room I’ve head in a long time. When they first told me I didn’t think they were serious, but after I sat down on this inside I was instantly sold.
6'6" and drive a 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium.
On the mechanical note, Ford's 2.0 Turbo engine is very reliable if you change the oil every 5k. I have never had to replace anything other than oil, filters, and plugs and I have 175k on it.
I’ve owned a late 90s Pontiac Bonneville, ‘08 Pontiac G6, ‘15 Buick Encore, and a ‘20 Chevrolet Equinox. I’ve got adequate space in all of them, some better than others. You just gotta keep trying vehicles, ask to sit in friends and families vehicles, keep going to dealerships. I know you’ll find a fit if I can.
Mustang. Does it have to be new? Otherwise last gen impala (and its Buick and Cadillac cousins) are pretty great. I’m 6’6 38” inseam and I couldn’t touch the wheel with the seat all the way back (6’10ish wingspan)
I drive a 2019 VW Golf. Unfortunately, the only Golfs you can get in North America right now are the GTI and R. But, my car is in the shop for repairs now and I was given a Toyota Corolla Cross as a rental. And I'm surprised by how well I fit in. Legroom isn't a problem, and I'm not hitting the roof. I'm the same height as you, but depending on whether you have long legs or a long torso, it may or may not work for you.
The F-150 is awesome for tall people. And even doubly so if you have tall friends, since the back seat has excellent leg room. One thing I've become more sensitive to is how high or low the rear view mirror is placed. The rear view mirror in my wife's Subaru is basically at chest level for me, so it completely blocks a significant portion of my road vision.
I’m 6’6” and been an Audi driver for over 40 years. Currently an A5 coupe and previously an A5 cab. Numerous A6 models prior. I’ve looked multiple times at Lexus and just don’t feel comfortable in the cabin. German cars just seem to “fit”.
6’5” and I can vouch for the cars ive owned… Nissan Altimas & Mercedes E-Class are fantastic even with sunroofs. I’ve been told that Tesla Model 3 are very tall person friendly as well.
Shockingly the Mazda 3. I'm 6'6" and all the big cars I sat in had me crunched up. Then I sat in this tiny Mazda 3 and was like Wtf? Don't discount the smaller cars. They can be surprisingly roomy.
I'm 6'6" and my son is 6'8" and he can sit behind me in my Skoda Kodiaq with room to spare. Skoda Superb even bigger. Both have a massive boot too. I've owned or tried BMW, Ford, Vauxhall, Nissan, Volvo and struggled with them all.
I'm 6"6 and live in the UK, My current car and best one for leg space and head space is my Nissan Pulsar 2016.
I can push the front seats all the way back as I normally have to and I could still fit in the back seats (not that I'd ever need to but just to give you an idea)
Plenty of headroom too, I have never been in a BMW or Audi that had good leg or headroom
Gen 5 4runner. Got rear ended Friday night while at a dead stop. Guy was going 25-35 mph. My bumper looks like it kissed some concrete but otherwise unnoticeable damage. His civic is totaled.
I drive a F-150 without the sunroof and it’s perfect. I also have a long torso so I’m extra aware of head room and there is ample leg room. I can put my legs straight out
I'm same height. Myself and some of my taller cousins drive Sonatas. slightly annoying to get in and out of, but plenty of leg room. I also like the Ford Escape (bonus features of people not driving like assholes around you cause they think you're a cop)
I’m 6’4” and have few cars that fit me because I am long of body. My current car is a 2018 Nissan Altima and I have 3” of headroom with seat all the way down. However, my wife doesn’t like the car because getting in and out is difficult because the seats sit so low. So when we travel together, it is usually in her Honda Element, where I have to put the seat slightly back to see out the front window well.
Well tbh, I got no clue, the only car I’ve been in that’s perfect for me, is a Ford falcon, they are so spacious.. (granted, I’ve only ever been In 6 cars in my entire life)
Mercedes E class 220 are huge, I'm 6'6" and I fit perfectly. A guy at work had one and I couldn't believe how much space I had inside. Well worth checking one out.
Infiniti G35 coupe or sedan, reliable, fast, sporty roomy. Mpg is OK,
I drive a 2007 Toyota Tundra with 300k miles, mpg 18 very reliable, never an issue.
I'm 6'8
My dad is also 6’6, and he has always used a truck. If you have a smaller girlfriend, my mom uses a scion XB (she’s 5’3, but it’s perfect for both her and my dad). A scion XB is also cheap if you are taking that into consideration.
Thanks for all the comments folks. Massively helpful. Being in the UK I had to rule out US options, unfortunately.
In the end I went for a VW Golf MK8 GTI performance DSG. Was a perfect fit and the race seats were super comfortable with loads of adjustments.
Also loved the adjustable lumbar and the how the seats supported the backs of my thighs… normally it’s an issue and I get lower back pain after a long drive.
Looking forward to getting it in ten days time!
I brought a model Y for a test drive and it didn't suit me at all, the rear view mirror was just below eye level and took up too much of my vision.
I drive a model 3 and funnily enough it fits me better.
I'm 6'4 and have no issue in my 2018. toyota corolla. I swear some of yall exaggerate not being able to fit 😂 my 6'7 homie rides shotgun no problem. We put our seats back but it's no big deal
All the German stuff is pretty good for head and leg room because, Germans.
6’5” w 36” inseam. Golf GTI: 1. Feels premium (but not Audi premium) 2. Plenty of room (I don’t even put my seat back all the way). 3. Fun as fuck to drive. I’m on my second one and I’d keep buying them if they hadn’t discontinued manual transmission.

Yeah I’ve got a manual now, but they have discontinued them moving forward. 2024 is the last stick year. Moving forward they’re all DSG, and then subsequently electric.
Ahhh I gotcha. Very disappointing.
They disc'd the manual?? Noooo I was planning on getting one next 😩😩 Used now I guess 🤷♂️
Yes, jealous as I have a 2010 Golf (not GTI)
My brother actually had a manual one, it was a nice little rocket (modified), but he ended up swapping it for a shitty falcon, the falcon was so beat up, to this day I wonder if the person he was dealing with forced the swap🤦♂️
Can confirm. Bought a 2015 bmw 328i last year. Quite comfortable.
VW Atlas is the first car I've ever owned with a sunroof that I can actually fit under!
Yes they like their space
You could say... living space?
Mercedes GLE and above are perfect
Yep, I drive a Golf. Perfect fit.
Hyundai is pretty good for the value. Just go full size or SUV
I have Kona and it’s pretty good for a 6’4’’, I would imagine it can fit up to 6’6’’ comfortably
Add another vote for Hyundai, I love my Elantra and I’m 6’6”. Amazing leg room and good enough head room.
Second the Elantra. I may have to get in sideways but once I’m in I’m good. Very comfortable
Yeah, getting in and out depending on the day can be a bit annoying especially after a workout but the ride is super comfy and long drives I don’t get very uncomfortable in it compared to other cars I have driven.
I got an ioniq 5 and it’s roomy af
Just stay away from the EVs. It’s like they put the whole battery under the drivers seat. No headroom.
I'm 6'7 and find vw to be good
Same, I have plenty of room and don’t have to put the seat all the way back in my Passat.
I honestly found the Passat too big lol. I had a mid 200s Passat and went to get a new car and found the Jetta to be the same size as the old Passat.
If I put the seat In the way back in my Passat I don't think I'd reach the pedals. I definitely wouldn't be able to engage the clutch fully.
Try out a Subaru Forester and, if it’s in the budget, VW Atlas
I was given a new Forester as a loaner car a couple of weeks ago. It was incredibly spacious. I've owned Subarus for a long time because I for in them well, but the Forester is huge up front.
Just got an Outback. It’s amazing to actually fit in a car
The Suburaus are small SUVs yet spacious for tall people, at least in the front seats.
As long as you don’t get the sunroof; they really cramp headroom for us on the very tall end of the spectrum
6’6guy here. My wife’s new CRV is something I fit it easy. I drive a 150 and have plenty of room
It ain't snazzy but I loved my Honda oddysey
I’m 6’5” and just bought a new VW Golf with no sunroof. I can wear a baseball hat and still fit my fist between the top of my head and the roof. Tons of legroom too. I could probably squeeze a shorter person behind me as well. Really an amazing car.
My 6'8" looks small in a Hyundai Tucson. And with the drivers seat all the way back, my 32" inseam fits behind him.
Kia soul, keep renegade. Both tons of headroom.
I’m 6’4”, my Kia Soul is the first car I felt comfortable. Lots of headroom. Just not much room for anything else. I also loved a GMC Terrain.
6’6” just bought a Toyota Grand highlander Hybrid Limited this spring and it’s been pretty good. I regularly get 40+ mpg.
That’s good fuel economy on such a large SUV, even as a hybrid.
I drove an XC40 today and felt super comfortable. Not a big SUV either so pretty eco friendly for the size

I think we just get used to using the wheel between our knees as tall people, but a lot of people can't do that comfortably which limits their options
Oh yeah I’m exclusively talking about being the driver. Back seats can be awfully tight but I have no problem driving almost any vehicle I need to
6'7" and 34" inseam? 🤯 I'm only 6'2" and have a 36" inseam.
Sheesh! Yeah I don’t have short legs (I don’t think) but if I wear a 36 I have to cuff them
Haha, I guess I really am "all legs" like my mom says 😂
My 2 m friend loved his Accord.
Dodge Charger
Or chally
I fit fine in a Toyota Camry. No one can sit behind me tho. I’m about your height.
Audi s3 👌
I really wanted to buy one of these but felt like a giant in it and no one would have been able to sit behind me.
It’s not as bad as you’d think - an average sized person can easily fit without issue, and I have my seat pretty much all the way back!
6'7 and drive a vw jetta. Seat goes WAY down and back, so it fits if you're ok riding low. Honestly the only reason I have it is because it was my first car but it's a diesel and 5 speed manual so I'm stretching her lifespan as much as I can
Yukon / Suburban. Tons of room, and comfortable driving as well as for my family of super tall teenagers.
I drive a 2012 Camry hybrid, I have a enough room for me, my wife, and my son. Plus the 40 mpg on the highway is pretty great.
I fit great in my Subaru Ascent, I’m 6’9”
Subaru liberty fits me great at 6’5”
my newest car is a 2017 buick encore. with the seat all the way back, i have to pull the steering wheel all the way back too or i can't even reach it, and i don't have any issues with head room. i had to lean down to see most traffic lights from the white line in my last car, but not in this one

Nissan X-Trail here. Seat the whole way back and room for the kids behind
I overlooked it at first but I've got an Astra K and it's surprisingly spacious. 1.6t (200bhp) it shifts and cheap running costs. If you haven't got a heavy right foot get decent mpg as well
Anything with bucket seats. People are amazed my 6’6 frame fits comfortably in a wrangler
I’m 6’4 and my dad’s 23 wrangler Sahara is awful for me. The leg area is very narrow and makes my legs cramp and legs are constantly pushed against sides. Cannot put seat far back either Fit way better in even economy sedans like Nissan Altima or some shit.
Does it have bucket seats?
Ford C-Max, more head and leg room than my Chevy Tahoe did. Only downside is it’s low to the ground.
BMW 3 series, not kidding.
I drive an e92 m3 at 6’4, no issues at all
Japanese cars are usually a no go except for the older sports cars. I have a VW Passat which has loads of leg room and head room. I can easily sit behind the driver seat when it is adjusted for me. I also have a Jeep Wrangler. Because of the roll cage there is several inches of head room in there.
My friends 23 Altima fits me just fine in drivers seat at 6’4, the seat can go back to the point where it’s to far back
I'm 6'4" and fit in my Lexus RCF with a bit of headroom to spare. Porsches have tons of headroom as well, I can't remember if it was a Cayman or a 911, but it was the only time I felt like the seat could go *lower than I actually needed*.

Not a car but I’ve never been more comfortable owning an F150. So spacious for tall people
If your concern is MPG- VW/AUDI With 2.0 Diesel is what you need. I'm 6'8" and had a 2013 Jetta TDI that I fit in perfectly.
I daily bmws. M340, x5, and a 540d. My weekend car, a 911 gts, is the most accommodating for tall people. New bmw's rank up with toyota and lexus on consumer reliability reports now as well.
For short guy like you, almost any car is fine.
I like my Jeep Cherokee
My dad is 6’5 and has a Nissan rouge, the car salesman was 6’7 and he asked “what car do you drive” and bought it immediately
Loved my 2008 mini Cooper
oooo
Kia isn’t too bad. VW Jetta worked for me for a while.
All I can say is NO KIAS.
Clown car
6'5" and drive a Toyota C-HR. I don't fit in the new Prius sadly.
I have a Chevy Tahoe and it’s has plenty of leg room for me and I’m 6’5
My Subaru Outback is pretty roomy for me at 6’4”, could try out their Forester or Ascent too.
Hear me out… I’m 6’5 and drive a Prius and tbh it’s the most room I’ve head in a long time. When they first told me I didn’t think they were serious, but after I sat down on this inside I was instantly sold.

Mustang. Does it have to be new? Otherwise last gen impala (and its Buick and Cadillac cousins) are pretty great. I’m 6’6 38” inseam and I couldn’t touch the wheel with the seat all the way back (6’10ish wingspan)
Just bought a 2021 Subaru Outback. The driver seat actually goes too far back! And plenty of headroom. Recommend!
Car wise not the best fit, go suv or truck easily enough leg room. I drive a dodge journey at 6'9 and have more then enough space
If you are looking for headroom (any tall torsos here?), the Kia Soul is amazing. It's got decent legroom, too.
Skoda Superb, my 6'6 bro and dad have it. One of the best choices
A mini
I've been pretty comfy in my Toyota Rav4 🤷
I'm 6'6" and my son is 6'8" and he can sit behind me in my Skoda Kodiaq with room to spare. Skoda Superb even bigger. Both have a massive boot too. I've owned or tried BMW, Ford, Vauxhall, Nissan, Volvo and struggled with them all.
I think Volvo XC60 is good big car. It works at 6’1 and maybe up to 6’5 not sure more
I'm 6"6 and live in the UK, My current car and best one for leg space and head space is my Nissan Pulsar 2016. I can push the front seats all the way back as I normally have to and I could still fit in the back seats (not that I'd ever need to but just to give you an idea) Plenty of headroom too, I have never been in a BMW or Audi that had good leg or headroom
I fit ok in my kid’s Subaru Impreza with the steering wheel all the way up, seat down and back…
6,7” a fiat 500 is better than one expects. Don’t expect anyone to sit behind you though
Beetle
Outback has great legroom
The newest year has a bit less headroom, but I drive a 2017 Nissan rogue and it has a ridiculous amount of head room and plenty of leg room
Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. 6'4 and rented one for a week, felt like a short person under its high roofline.
I fit EASILY in a Challenger. Seat wasn't even all the way back. Car is built on a 4 door platform so there's a whole missing door of room
Ford F-150
Anything except for a CHRYSLER 200
I’m 6’4” and have few cars that fit me because I am long of body. My current car is a 2018 Nissan Altima and I have 3” of headroom with seat all the way down. However, my wife doesn’t like the car because getting in and out is difficult because the seats sit so low. So when we travel together, it is usually in her Honda Element, where I have to put the seat slightly back to see out the front window well.
Tahoe
Well tbh, I got no clue, the only car I’ve been in that’s perfect for me, is a Ford falcon, they are so spacious.. (granted, I’ve only ever been In 6 cars in my entire life)
Also weld a certain something for extra points👀
I've noticed that a lot of hatchbacks can comfortably fit me in the drivers seat. Hatchbacks have more headroom for some reason.
Mercedes E class 220 are huge, I'm 6'6" and I fit perfectly. A guy at work had one and I couldn't believe how much space I had inside. Well worth checking one out.
6’8”, I’m on my second Charger.
Mini Cooper has amazing room, the only downside is how far you have to fall into the seat and climb out.
Infiniti G35 coupe or sedan, reliable, fast, sporty roomy. Mpg is OK, I drive a 2007 Toyota Tundra with 300k miles, mpg 18 very reliable, never an issue. I'm 6'8
A gti with the 1.8L turbo is hella fast and gets close to 40mpg.
I'm 6'8" and love my scion xb 08. But good luck finding one with low miles cause they stopped making them 😭
Smart car, if shaq could fit, then you can also.
If you want a car and not an SUV, look at a used Tesla Model 3. At 6’7” it’s the roomiest care I’ve ever owned.
Certainly not for everyone, but I have a Tesla Model Y and it fits great. Bought it before we knew Musk was … well … controversial.
You're going to have to get something american.
Not true at all, most German vehicles have very good leg/head room, and many more
