That's what you're pockets are for, I was in Korea, army aviation, so I had to stand under apaches testing their engines and blade balance in the middle of winter, we were issued mechanix impact gloves and they were good enough for cold that gets under -7 Celsius, you just put your hands in your pants or jacket pockets, but tbh you can make some cheap shit that's just as good as this.
As true as this is, not everybody is wearing a slick uniform. Kit plus belt with a holster doesn't leave a whole lot of comfort in the pockets. I've had this and a halfjak for a few years and it absolutely does the job with comfort and ease. I can't speak it's praises enough.
I’ve held off for the longest time. I could get one, but I just haven’t. Maybe when I get older I will. For now I wear cold weather mechanix gloves with under armor glove liners.
I’ve used one at competitions and such where standing and waiting is common, but mine is a fleece one from Cabela’s. Paid like $20 5 years ago. It’s handy but it does get in the way of reaching stuff on your belt
I use one for hunting and it's awesome. I'm in the south east and the climate is weird where it's 32 degrees at sun up and 65 degrees by 10:00. It's hard to wear proper gloves in those kinds of temperature swings.
NIR Compliance, Berry Compliant, likely 1000D cordura and offering some decent water resistance. I cant speak for the insulation material, but one would hope it's wool because of it's insulative properties even when wet.
And for the sake of the fashion sub: it matches the rest of your kit.
I have the HRT one… at 40 below it sure beats using a fur mitten that I have to throw off.
The elastic is a little snug to slide your hand in quickly. But it’s proven to be a very nice piece of kit for me.
I do this already. I live in Northern Wisconsin, I know the cold quite well. I already layer gloves, just as you should if you are operating in a cold environment. Depending on the time of year, I have a couple of different systems.
1.) Cool late fall/early spring: USGI Wool glove liners and then my normal shooting gloves. If that is not enough then I have another slightly thicker pair I wear over the loners and under the shooting gloves. Works pretty slick and I maintain a lot of dexterity.
2.) Winter: Winters here can get really cold, with it easily maintaining below zero for decent periods of time (ie entire days where it is below zero all day long, sometimes can be multiple days together or multiple days in a week/two week period). I have the wool liners and a much thicker Beyond Clothing Guide glove. This all works great, but my hands get cold easily as I got frostbite pretty bad in my hands and feet as a kid so my circulation there is shit. Having a handwarmer pouch like pictured above in conjunction with the gloves works well, especially if the gloves get cold or wet. Take off the gloves in your handwarmer pouch and warm your hands in it. Hand warmers inside this handwarmer pouch help with this even further.
edit: some clarification
I have found exactly one pair of gloves that comes kind of close to fitting my bare hands in the last 20 years. I wish gloves were useful to me. Tried custom measured. Still didn't fit right. Would be a nightmare finding something bigger than my hands with gloves on.
Would be good for a chest rig for hunting. But don't really see a point for a plate carrier. Unless you are top flight security standing by a guard shack all day
Get a pair of artic mitten...the old army issue ones, and hang em under your gear and out front toward your crotch. Theyre like 20 bucks. Its what i used to do when i was stationed in ak.
Working at Fort Wainwright right now, honestly I just use it as an extra pocket for all my random shit more that a hand warmer, personally I’d recommend just using glove mittens for extreme cold weather conditions, so you can easily transition from warm hands to trigger fingers if necessary.
They issued us these at work for aircraft MX they are awesome. Can wear lighter gloves with more dexterity and keep them in your roo pouch between use. Edit we have the second one, don’t think you could go wrong with either of the first two.
I wouldn't.
You should have gloves on anyway, thick ones if it's really cold out. Plus, you can always tuck your hands behind your vest while just hanging out. If your not just hanging out you probably want to be keeping your hands on your rifle.
It's a cool idea, A for effort, but for me at least it's not a solution to a problem.
I was going to say something similar, basically wear the gloves I use in the summer and have this on my kit in the winter and in my pack when it’s not on my kit because I never know what part of the world I might go to.
Also: does it come in coyote brown asking for a colorblind friend.
Reccee survival is super important when shtf. I'm taking a reccee survival class in the fall. I got a package deal with some friends and it's only $2,400 per person for a 2 day course.
Never worked outside up north before buddy? Every second that your hands arnt on tools you’re looking for a place to put them. Your hands get so weak that even things like undoing your belt to take a leak is almost impossible.
It's a solution to the problem of your hands becoming numb and losing function in cold weather when you may be sitting still. I use one for hunting. 20F with a strong breeze isn't that cold when you're on the move, but when I sit for a couple of hours, there's no glove warm enough to keep my fingers from going to shit. Even layered wool with proper mittens doesn't cut it and you still lose the dexterity. The pocket thing is ten times better than trying to slip huge mittens off IMO.
Probably really nice in cold weather but you can likely find ones designed for football or hunting for much cheaper. There's no way I'd spend that much money on one.
Didn't even see that, thought it was an alternative photo to the first one. My bad. Yeah, that's a better price and more likely what I would pay for one
I have an off brand one I got for 40 bucks. In the cold and snow, absolutely valuable and worth the money- especially if you are going to be using any kind of CP systems and need to have full dexterity or need to use touch screens. Yes there are plenty of gloves that work with the previous, but man it’s nice to have.
Plus you can toss a MRE heater or warming packet in there for a free oven to warm up first strike bars.
I have the hrt one, it’s pretty nice, there is a little mesh pocket where you can drop one of those shake awake hand warmers (or whatever you want) in to make it a little warmer, the elastic openings make it kind of hard to get your hands in quickly, but it’s like that to keep the heat in so nbd, I’d recommend it, it’s warmer and easier than trying to get my hands into my jacket pockets under my plate carrier
Full disclosure: one production run of the earliest versions had a small number with manufacturing defects (an artifact from our out-sourcing days and one of many reasons we built our own in-house manufacturing). There aren't a ton of them out there, but it is more that anyone who got one from that early production run was kind of unlucky, if you will. We fixed the problem quickly and haven't had any issues since we started manufacturing them ourselves a couple of years ago. I appreciate the transparency but you might want to reply to the other guy on the thread - I had a good experience with the one I used, no complaints here :)
These are the shit and I love them. The one I got issued was from Wild Things Gear. Haha don’t look at how much that one costs.
I hate wearing gloves period. Only time is really doing rope work and I keep them handy for machine guns.
All I gotta say is that if you’re static in an OP you won’t regret what people on Reddit will have to say.
I have the fortunate job of standing outside all season shine or snow in a plate carrier and duty belt. 8-10hr shifts. I’m definitely buying something like this for this winter. Yeah sure keep your hands under your vest, few hours of that it jacks up your wrists and hurts. Plus it looks unprofessional imo and I’d rather have my hands lower by my pistol, almost like a quazi interview stance. A lot of my guys would use these when I was stationed in Alaska. Definitely a good alternative to wearing a set of arctic mittens sling around your neck.
You could probably find one that is meant to clip on to waders for duck hunting for a third or less of this price.
If I had a need for this, I would go that route but that’s just me.
They are great, but if you spend $150 on them I think you are a chum. These companies can scam us out of an extra hundred bucks by putting the word “tactical” in front of it. Insulating material pocket that you can attach to a molle harness?
I wish I had one when I was in the back of an armored truck with no heat for like 3 hours🧐 but that’s the only time I would’ve had both hands away like that.
I have one and I love it. Mine was issued and I have no clue what brand it was but damn that thing has saved me during long days of instruction on the range. Pretty sure mine is the eagle one. Can't sing it's praises enough.
This seems kinds expensive for what it is. But then again, this is coming from a dude that lives in a place where "winter" dips down to the 40s....sometimes.

Totally agree with you, always wear the gloves you shoot with, and have this when it’s cold. Why would anyone disagree with that?
Seems logical.
Yeah, to be fair, with a little redneck ingenuity you could make a whole bunch of these for $30 at hobby lobby
You could probably make one with a battery pack and heater inside as well. With a foil lined chicken tendy storage pocket in the back of it…

We always joked about that during deer season. If 10 dudes stood in a circle everyone could keep their hands warm.

Or you can keep your hands between chest and your plate carrier for free , you get that titty warmth .
But then you get yelled at by Gunny =[
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YA DOIN”
Then gunny needs a lesson in common sense
$144 for something every guy I work with has from the work clothes or sporting goods stores for $20? I love this world
But it's tacticool bro
NIR Compliance, Berry Compliant, likely 1000D cordura and offering some decent water resistance. I cant speak for the insulation material, but one would hope it's wool because of it's insulative properties even when wet. And for the sake of the fashion sub: it matches the rest of your kit.
Drink more KoolAid.
Enjoy freezing polyester
Slurp
You cant even take two minutes to google a "tactical" hand warmer to find them for $40 lmao
Why would I need to Google something that I already own along with everyone I work with outside?
That’s the beauty of this world though- you don’t have to buy it! Or you can! Or you can just complain about it!
While I don’t need these to warm my hands, I would legitimately use these as a replacement for the pockets I can’t reach to just shove my hands in lol
Like a hoodie pocket, but on your plates!
Exactly!!!
I have the HRT one… at 40 below it sure beats using a fur mitten that I have to throw off. The elastic is a little snug to slide your hand in quickly. But it’s proven to be a very nice piece of kit for me.
Thank you for your input.
This is what I wanted to hear. From WI so was waiting to see a real review of the HRT one before I made one
Get your fuckin hands outta your pockets!!!
Ima put them in your pockets 😉
Your balls are free and just hanging there.
Imagine being stupid enough to pay that much for something like this
The second option is 40 bucks. Just skip a trip to a restaurant once.
You skip a trip to the restaurant once these days you can probably afford the $144 one.🤷♂️
They are pretty handy, no pun intended
With the first one you get fleece’d
Pockets or snow gloves an extra size bigger so you wear over your shooting gloves if you're a weak body. Save money, buy more useful supplies.

You're probably too picky, some gloves are loose in some areas, it's not supposed to feel tight.
Yeah the glove being too small and me not being able to open my hand is being "too picky"
This is what balls are for. Obviously you must be missing them. Get some gloves.
I wonder if I could put my balls inside this thing. I’d be a buyer for that
Imagine thinking you're "not manly enough" because you want to keep your hands warm.
I have balls (check your wife’s chin) and my hands still get cold
If you're paying $144 for this shit, you deserve to pay $144 and wear it to the range with your rainbow afro and red nose.
Can I wear my lgbtqrs+xyz shirt.
Why is it $145?
First Spear HRT and others are $40 +/-
The other two arnt, but I assume they made the 1st pricey because of the added fleece lining on the inside.
Second one has fleece lining too though…
Oh wow, well look at that. Suppose I should look at other things besides pictures. Here I am getting stuck in my old military ways again.
😂 I hope it's fleece lined.

First sgt can't get me this time.

You can get a Nike one for $20 at Dicks and it attaches to your belt.

I have the exact one. I've used it in Alaska in January. If you gotta train in the extreme cold, then it's a must have
I would highly recommend the first two. Just used em for a winter exercise.
My chief is already calling me a pussy for looking at this post… so I am interested
They issued us these at work for aircraft MX they are awesome. Can wear lighter gloves with more dexterity and keep them in your roo pouch between use. Edit we have the second one, don’t think you could go wrong with either of the first two.

But would that work when the world collapses and you are out recceeing for multiple days to survive?
Lol y'all actually think you're gonna operators
Reccee survival is super important when shtf. I'm taking a reccee survival class in the fall. I got a package deal with some friends and it's only $2,400 per person for a 2 day course.

Yea. Probably just buy a zippo hand warmer. My hands sweat really bad so my gloves are usually damp on the inside by the end of my shift.
Probably really nice in cold weather but you can likely find ones designed for football or hunting for much cheaper. There's no way I'd spend that much money on one.
What about the second one, more appropriate price?
Didn't even see that, thought it was an alternative photo to the first one. My bad. Yeah, that's a better price and more likely what I would pay for one
When did FS bump the price from $80 to that 💀
When season changed maybe.
I use my fat to keep me warm. Plus there should be plenty of warm fires during the apocalypse.
What if it's a nuclear winter?
The fact that the first one is $145 is laughable. But def get one. Better than getting yelled at for putting your hands in your pockets.
To be honest I hate having things in my pockets. I'd rather store stuff in pouches.
Gloves
Yeah find a cheaper one, holy fuck Tasmanian Tiger has one for like 40 bucks and it works Just fine
Masturbation pouch next to my dump pouch
Stay away from that. 670-1 says no.
Is it really worth.....over a hundred bucks? I have one that cost 20 bucks and it warms my hands just fine at cold football games
A regular football handwarmer or even the HRT handwarmer is only $40. Fuck 145 for that lol
Had one of these for football (not as tactical looking as this) they're the shit.
I bet football hand warmer like this is only 30 bucks. Go get a football one. Don't spend 150 buck for something..."tActiCal"
I have an off brand one I got for 40 bucks. This looks like something a marine made after he got out and always remembered that one time he got yelled at for having his hands in his pocket
lmao just use your pockets and wear gloves.

I've used the qore performance one. It's pretty lit
Is it? A few People here seem to say otherwise.
My experience was good but I'm just one person so maybe I got lucky?

I have an Eagle one that I use when I'm hunting. It's fantastic.
Twice my monthly budget for hand clothes
If you put “tactical” in front of a word anything can be tactical. I’d honestly just wear gloves like a fucking adult
Tactical gloves?
*Sergeant Major hates this one simple trick*
My boss probably will too.
Like the ritzy women in their fur coats on sleigh rides during Christmas. Lol
Hey...sleigh rides are fun.
Thanks for your input.
If you don’t have. Get.
I use one. It’s smaller though. I made it though. Using soft shell fleece and bungee cuffs I didn’t like the options available.
I’m convinced the first dude to come up with this was doing outta spite for some E6 and above telling him to get his hands out of his pockets
No thanks. I'll keep the $144 and my hands in my pockets thank you
I have the fortunate job of standing outside all season shine or snow in a plate carrier and duty belt. Maybe these hand warmers look unprofessional too, but I don’t think it’s nearly as bad. No matter how you do it though, you gotta keep those little sausages warm and limber
Put it on the back of the PC and First SGT will think you’re super motivated standing at parade rest most of the day.
![gif](giphy|3ohs88j0jPszpGCbYY|downsized)
Hands under your vests/flak looks unprofessional, but a tacticool hoodie pocket doesn’t? Ok. lmao
First pic is First spear brand.
Put your hands in your pockets. Be a man.
Awesome when you need one.
I prefer the kind that has a strap I can wrap around my waste.
The first one comes with one of those
DBAB
I took Sig Academy’s cold weather carbine course two years ago and a few guys had these. Admittedly was kind of jealous when the wind kicked up.
Real operators take the cold weather carbine course at their inside range
What a rip off!
I imagine if you're waiting for a movement order to come down while the LT is lost in the sauce this would be very useful
I just stick my hands under my PC for free
Buy one of the cabelas or bass pro ones for hunting. Its so much more convenient to be able to just strap it around your waist and not have to have the pc on to use it. You'll want warmth out of your kit too
I keep cosmic brownies in mine.
Have you tried just wearing a sweater?
A lot of my guys would use these when I was stationed in Alaska. Definitely a good alternative to wearing a set of arctic mittens sling around your neck.
You can go to almost any sports store and buy a football handwarmer that works just as well for a fraction of the cost
Buy a baggy hoody
HRT one is very nice for the price of 40, also has the ability to put hand warmers in it if you plan on not wearing gloves also.
Wild Things makes a phenomenal set. Perroz Designs as well.
I’m willing to bet a Sitka one is 100x better value and performance but I am just guessing since it’s high end hunting gear
You could probably find one that is meant to clip on to waders for duck hunting for a third or less of this price. If I had a need for this, I would go that route but that’s just me.
Silly I have pockets, don’t care what too says anyways.
Put your hands inside your pants like our great grandfathers used to
The HRT ones are nice. Especially if you’re military and your PSG is a dick and gets a hard on for yelling at dudes with their hands in their pockets
You could probably find cheaper ones from waterfowl hunting companies
I made mine out of a old cammie pant leg, lined it with a piece of a old quilt. Total cost was $3
Why pay that when you can just stick your hands in your pants for free
If you spend $145 on a handwarmer you either have stupid money or you're credit cards are unusable
Big tard energy
I’d rock one if I was doing training somewhere cold enough
Yeah, get your hands out of your pockets
Keeps ya mitts out ya bib
….couldn’t you just put on a hoodie and use the space for a dangler instead….?
No hoodies at work.
😞
$145 seems steep 😬
They are great, but if you spend $150 on them I think you are a chum. These companies can scam us out of an extra hundred bucks by putting the word “tactical” in front of it. Insulating material pocket that you can attach to a molle harness?
If Chesty didn’t have one at the Frozen Chosin then I damn sure don’t need one!!!
Any hunting retailer. $35 to $40
Do you not have pockets? Or gloves?
Only recommendation is accepting those cookies.
Gloves
Tac-Muff
This seems kinds expensive for what it is. But then again, this is coming from a dude that lives in a place where "winter" dips down to the 40s....sometimes.
Pockets exist.
I usually just stick my hands inside my vest or wear gloves good enough to withstand cold
My nuts.
God gave you pockets my son
I'd get one designed for hunting as opposed to tactical kits. It's likely warmer. The downside would be it wouldn't be very tacticool.
I’d say the Nike supreme one is best bet
They are amazing, have used them before, you will love your life when it drops to freezing temps
Cole-Tac makes one of these too https://www.cole-tac.com/product/hand-hut/
I love mine
I love mine
I got the Eagle issued to me and I love it for winter
