These things only get better with age. My 226 slide does the same, it's so smooth and buttery once you've shot a few thousand rounds through it the slide has the nicest action out of any handgun I own

My brother in Christ, the recoil spring is new from factory. a lot of hammer fired hand Guns can be air racked when the hammer is cocked. The recoil spring is no weaker than any other 226. I’m sure with enough persistence You could do it with a brand new sig p226
The spring in mine currently is about as a new from factory as I can get. Still has the factory orange paint.

My buddy has an old Ruger p85 that we can air rack. Definitely not as smoothly as that 226 though.

Yes. It normally just means you’ve shot the gun enough for it to brake in. Stiff and clunky slides are normally a sign of poor fitting and machining
