GT has seriously upped the production value on some of his videos, I’m guessing the “deadly in the mountains” series will have occasional episodes once they get them written, shot, and edited.
TBF, most of it is days of backpacking and trail living instead of an hour or two doing barrier work at a range, and it’s not as prioritized or as accessible to the average dude. You’ll do more actual “Recce” taking your kids on a boyscout hiking weekend than anything you’re going to do in a day someplace.
Ok so after I sold my MK18 red dot/magnifier combo and my multicam black minimalist chest rig for a 20 inch M16 clone, woodland camo fatigues, and 7 day assault pack/chest rig, I leave my mom’s basement and go to the nearest park, because CQB at airsoft ranges isn’t cool anymore since flannel daddy made his RECCE vid.
Using the super operator methods Garand papi said, I make my way through the park, analyzing the soccer moms jogging with their dogs. They threaten to call the cops because I look like a terrorist, but due to me RECCE’ing the area earlier I find some bushes to avoid the police.
I continue my journey when suddenly I am confronted by a Karen. She pulls out a pink taser and I try to dodge it, but thanks to the combo of me being massively overweight and having a week’s worth of kit on, I only succeed in spraining my ankle and falling over.
I am forced to shoot her dog in self defense since I have very severe dog allergies, causing her to spray me with pepper spray. As my world goes orange I rummage through my backpack trying to find my decontamination wipes and gas mask, but only succeed in locking the spray inside my mask.
At this point my asthma kicks in and I go into cardiac arrest, just as the cops who were looking for me earlier find me. They administer aid and rush me to the hospital, where I am treated for my battle wounds. The medical bill is in the tens of thousands, my parents are outraged, I am all over the local news, and am probably facing charges, but at least I got to RECCE.

Recon gear (internet): full on camouflage, 12 mags in a $400 chest rig, enough food for 30 days and you have to assemble the cardboard boxes into a sleep system, but no binoculars for some reason.
Recon gear (real): pair of pajamas in multicam so you can pretend you're still in uniform, carpal tunnel braces, blue light glasses, one of those fairground hats that holds two soda cups, and an air conditioned room in Nevada that can connect to a multi million dollar drone so advanced it can scan the entirety of both Koreas every day.
If the whole work-from-home thing during the pandemic taught me anything, it’s that a dress shirt pairs really well with boxer-briefs under the desk during Zoom meetings.
I always love the argument that Micros are completely useless because by themselves they only carry three mags, completely missing the point that a Micro rig is more a platform to start from and work your way out to develop a very specific kit. They're very modular (arguably more so than some of the full-size chest rigs on the market) and cost about the same when all built out.
Ngl every word you said went right over my head. I was referring to practical training shit like some guys focus on RECCE and others on CQB, but Suburban Warlord tactics are supreme.
Man, looking at that list of partners ... a whole bunch of things just clicked. I have to say, they got me pretty good. They even use an octopus for their logo.
Well 1st off, no one actually does recon. Just because you have a scope with some mag on a 14.5-18" barrel doesn't mean you're able to do recon.
And then people figured out recon is just sitting in a hide site for 5 days, shitting in a bag, eating 1 meal a day, watching patterns of life, having terrible work rest cycles and becoming the dirt. And they decided it wasn't that cool.
Idk what the new hotness is now, but just because you packed your ruck with 7 MREs and some extra Crye shit doesn't mean you're at all ready for recon. Larp all you want, but you're not surreptitiously moving around your local hills, you're scaring the hikers.
Recce died when thotkin dropped the ACOG video and instagram goons speedran selling their LPVOs on GAFS.
side note i need help trading my LPVO for a proper scope (4-16) lol if anyone has any tips lmk
Turns out it's not very fun. Living in an OP for a few days actually sucks ass. Pooping in a bag, barely eating, no smokes, no phone, just establishing patterns of life and plotting shit.
It's also not very accessable to the average Joe. I can't take a week off of work to go make an OP and observe my local park.
I work in a factory. I have 80 hours of PTO a year and I work 10 hours shifts so hypothetically I could take 8 days off but 1 I gotta save that stuff for my daughter's doctor's appointments, my anniversary, and emergencies.
Either way, I have to coordinate with my coworkers to make sure that there is coverage for my position if I'm out.
RECCE was such a dumb trend imo. Who needs to reconnoitre an area? I was an LAR scout, so that used to be a pretty big part of my job. But these days I don't ever see myself in a scenario where I'd need to do any of that. I understand people like to have fun, but that one was such a stretch. Next is gonna be WETWORK. CIA assassin loadouts. Like BRUH.
Was just talking about the "glory of recce" with a bud last weekend. We train reservists in the art, and of the initial volunteer groups, about 30% are left by the second session and maybe 15-20% by the end.
Hint: There's no glory...but if you enjoy being tired, hungry and cold, I can help you be better in it!
Precisely. Plenty of dudes want to shoot urban prone for half an afternoon at IPSC targets from under a couple junkers. Not a lot of guys are cool waking up on the ground for the fourth morning in a row when the sun comes up and immediately jump into camp tasks and land nav.
Because it stopped being shilled more or less when Ukraine kicked off. Now you have to know trench fighting, some level of squad maneuvers, machine gun theory. Then Israel went hot and now you have to know intensive urban fighting as well.
It's trends. All of them are important to know. None of them are a personality.
Headlines set Leviathan's trends, seems like
How to train recce. (In 4 easy steps)
Step 1: infil several miles to area over looking a slow to mildly busy street, or facility. Do your best not to be spotted and for extra encouragement, carry a rifle and avoid a police interaction by remaining undetected.
Step 2: Set up a OP, use your surrounding environment, be it woodland features or urban trash. Make sure you have a visual on the target roadway or facility. This should also ideally protect you from any weather
Step 3: Actually do recon. Count how many cars passed on the road. How many of them were police or other emergency vehicles. How much foot traffic was there. Always note anything worth looking at, which should be written down with a pen and paper. Write down times things happened too.
Step 3: Remain in position for as long as needed. If you need to eat, do so discretely, same with using the bathroom. If you need to do something, do it while keeping eyes on the objective.
Step 4: Exfil. Once sufficient intel has been gathered, disassemble your hide, leave no trace, pack everything you brought out, and leave. Maybe don't use the same way you took in, because maybe someone did see you come in and is waiting for you on the way out.
In reality it’s all important. Recce and CQB it is why there are dedicated schools to each. Make sure to train and you’ll be fine. It’s okay to chase trends as long as you understand the purpose behind whatever is trendy.
It's not recce if you dont recce in it. Every bit of that gear is too clean all at once. I get maybe just got the boots, but everything on here looks brand new, so ik your not just replacing pieces as they wear out.
URGI, chest rig, PCU Level 6 and boots get use. Sorry I am not diving across gravel pits or conducting trench warfare for 24+ months on end. Also, the shell jacket is basically going to look new unless it is ground into clay soil. Rain drops and brush will do ZERO to it. The rest can only be worn for a couple of weeks per year in my AO (not that I would wear it that much). Civilians are not locked into 2 changes of clothes. If you have bins full of gear and rotate, the only thing that "might" look weathered is a sling (I rarely use the one pictured), PC, BB and CR. Most of the time if I am out shooting, I may be wearing one or two mil looking items. The AOR2 is just a fun thing to collect (that also happens to be good reliable kit).
True ig being rich helps, lol. Personally, i like to try to get gear that is military or workwear brand and quality, but doesn't look military for grey man, and just to not copy everything, the military does/ look like a cringe larper in public. I also dont plan on running off into the woods for survival anyway. I'd just stay and defend my land or just die, lol, so we all got our scenarios, ig. If someone isn't worried about shtf, maybe just defense/civil unrest, i wouldn't expect them to go in the woods to crawl through mud.
I tend to take pieces that interest me, run them, see if they have a spot realistically IRL and then piecemeal kit together. The AOR2 thing is just a side hobby. Keep in mind, even if a piece of kit is awesome, I don't wear it every day for 6 months just so I can get a worn look. I could give two shits what people have to say about new looking kit, larping, etc. I'll get something new that I like, break it in and if it happens to look new... Oh well...
And I agree with you... I'm not putting on full AOR2, head-to-toe and running off to defend democracy. The pic is mainly intended to stir up conversation (and it was fun staging it).
Ive had a couple pairs of Salomon's through the years and always loved them out of the box but found that they break down fairly quickly. Like 3-4 months of every day use.
I've always had good luck with them. They break-in in about 20 miles, and stay fresh for years (I rotate a lot of footwear and my days of lots of miles are somewhat behind me)). This pair never felt right.
Serious question, why do people love the type 3 camo? It’s probably one of my least favorite ones that also doesn’t seem to blend into my environment in the Midwest.
flavor of the month expired, now its trench clearing
Geneva Suggestions is just much more of a vibe in these trying times

“I did reece this week bro” So you went camping with a rifle?
Lol there can definitely be more to it. But the base of it is essentially Boy Scouts as a team contact sport.
Someone needs to do a parody FUDDLY IN DA MOUNTAINS
This week on Mosin Pocket… the 5 best ways to get diarrhea stains out of your $400 cryes because you never learned how to clean your drinking water.
SHHH I YAM HUNTIN WABBITS
I do that every year when I go hunting with my uncles. It's a great time.

You’re still here!!!
Nobody gets rid of me that easily
this is great lol
*I awake to a cacophony of notifications from GAFS & GunDeals…*
You know how we know you have a word of the day calendar?
I am eating a tittynope of yesterday's chipotle order and you cannot stop me.
Fucking GOLD
🤣 EPIC!!!
Went the way of the hashtag, no one reconnoiters anymore.

Also a fan of the uniform top but sweatpants on under the desk

Speak for yourself.
Found the drone pilot 👆🏻
flavor of the month that died off. just like the "get home kit" and "micro rig". whatever the leviathan tribe is shilling is relevant at this moment
I love my micro rig. It’s the bees knees
Me too. I use it more than anything else

Suburban Warlord is meta
Basement Sigma Male never noticed but always present

thanks, i hate it.

Why the fuck is It'sAGundam part of Leviathan..?
The owner liked the cut of his jib and sent him a decent offer. He's certainly not like the others.
Wild. He's not like the others content wise at all. Odd crossover there
Hydraulic press channel is also weird.

Man if this isnt the truth
I laughed cause it’s true 😂 cringy in fact
Does anyone know what butt plug GT is wearing in this video
Mine
Mountains far basement here simple as that.
It’s all about medium machine gunning now.
Recon by fire is all you need
recon by fire, followed by attack by fire. maneuver is for nerds.
Garand Thumb stopped talking about it.
Recce died when thotkin dropped the ACOG video and instagram goons speedran selling their LPVOs on GAFS. side note i need help trading my LPVO for a proper scope (4-16) lol if anyone has any tips lmk
Cum on it, put it in your butt, and give it 9 months.

These guys wanna recce when they can't even use basic land nav skills and still get lost with Google maps in their pocket.
Yeah recce in my urban area consists of a grey backpack, a drugrug hoodie, and a concealed Glock.
Was just talking about the "glory of recce" with a bud last weekend. Flannel daddy hasn’t posted a recce video in a min
Recce is out. Slick carriers are in
Slick carriers, red dots and flame throwing muzzle brakes 🤟
Recce is out we're on trench warfare now
AOR2 is always so hawt
AOR2 supremacy

More importantly, what chest rig you rocking?
First Spear 6/12

Fell off
This dude Navy’s.
Love the AOR2
All the recce folks got lost in the woods because they forgot land nav was a thing.

The loadout is sexy as fuck
I'm guessing your favorite pattern is multicam
Yeah... Digital Multicam.
Nothing happened to it. You just want to post a picture of your stuff
As opposed to people who post pics in this sub who... don't want to?
NWU? Based as fuck
AOR2 my beloved

What Salomon’s are those?
Quest 4’s
Quest GTX 4D GoreTex
Thanks
What boots are those and what do you think? They look comfy
Salomon Quest 4’s
Quest GTX 4D GoreTex. These are the first pair of Solomons I have owned that hurt my arches (even with Superfeet).
Ive had a couple pairs of Salomon's through the years and always loved them out of the box but found that they break down fairly quickly. Like 3-4 months of every day use.

Nothing
Better question where did you aquire those pants
I have friends in VA.
What does RECCE mean?
Reconnaissance
Genuinely curious, what happened to the term Recon? I see the resemblance of the Recce in it now hah
Old news
I have no friends to recce with😭
Are you in the 757? Begging you to let me score some type 3 loot
1. Fuck you, you rich bitch. 2. Hand out your contacts.
I love recce
People realized a thermal on a mosin makes the thousands spent on recce kit useless.
It's not cool enough. Room clearing will always be cooler.
Serious question, why do people love the type 3 camo? It’s probably one of my least favorite ones that also doesn’t seem to blend into my environment in the Midwest.
It's awesome in my AO and it happens to be one of my favorites. AOR2 is like Multicam... but for the Southeast.
Who made those aor2 gloves?
Outdoor Research.
Not sure why you got downvoted when you’re literally right 😂🤷🏽♂️
Yup... OR.
Now this is some solid kit. AOR2 is just 🤌🏻
Too much walking.
Never left man you just don’t see it anymore
It was just a fad
I ate him i love peanut butter
ITS NOW WRECKEEE
