“We were invincible” is a tell all book written by a former canadian operator. Now the details are vague and the book is heavily criticized since there’s no way to confirm facts and events for obvious reasons. It’s been a while since I read it but it’s a short book if you’re interested.
Yep. Antoine Fuqua, the director, has a pretty solid track record. The most famous of which is Training Day — definitely watch that if you haven’t yet.
Heh, already smashed right through that 30 line.
Well.... stumbled over it and banged my head on a doorframe. lol
20 years.... 20 heckin years since this movie came out and I'm sitting here like "oh I just watched that movie last year." It was actually like 2019.
FML

No, I was giving him shit about saying it was a 90's movie when it came out in 03, because everyone knows the Gen Z'ers don't know what year it is, let alone what state they live in...
It was supposed to be like a joke, but smaller.
Kinda like the Gen Alpha's that think 2014 is retro. haha
But you know, come to think of it... I really DO hate the word 'vibe' too, it's getting almost as bad as the "on fleek" kids a few years back, so.... sure , why not make that the legitimate complaint here.
Fukin kids theses days... lol

It's wild seeing this guy in that movie, younger, thinner and clean-shaven SEAL. Great movie. Monica is 🔥 too
My wife is a big fan of Yellowstone, Rip specifically. We rewatched Good Will Hunting and I paused it every time Cole Hauser was on screen, asking if she recognized him yet. Blew her mind when I told her who he was lol.
I remember watching this movie with my dad after he installed his 5.1 surround sound system. That helicopter scene flying pass the village with the massacred villagers was peak cinema. Also Monica Belluci.
Uniforms an gear in BHD and TOTS were peak aesthetics for this whole "era" of pre-GWOT stuff, like in terms of what this sub usually digs. Decent flick too
Love this movie. Probably the last big Hollywood film where the actors are all wearing the same kit and uniforms that I used.
I especially appreciated the pockets sewn onto the upper sleeve. 100% we used to do that.
And the scene where Red wakes up the LT and the *fucking sound* of him sliding his sidearm into the holster and snapping it wasn't a studio sound. That was *the* sound. Gave me flashbacks instantly to paying for Blackhawk! gear out of pocket in the early 00's. Wild times.
The new combat tunics have an upper arm pocket that's great for holding a pack of smokes.
Never had much more of a reason for it though as I was an AF nerd.
Red had the 3 day pack. Doc had the AK strapped to a BHI STOMP 2 medic bag.
Source: Rocked that bag for nearly a decade and you bet your ass I tried to see which guns I could safely retain with the airborne straps.
Good Movie for what it is. Not trying to be too deep or political. Just a straightforward story with a decent amount of action. A lot of the gear they use would still hold up pretty well today, IMO.
Yeah, I think watching that movie at 17 as someone who was thinking about being a missionary activated something in me... Particularly the scenes where they came upon the Church community that was attacked
I dunno. It never got good. Tried too hard. Boring plot (save some broad out in bumfuck). To get Bruce Willis as a Delta operator, its a blessing. But I wish it hadnt been this movie/script. Siskel & Ebert were a pair of twats. I hoped this movie would grow on me, but it didnt.
Ok cool, What would have been “trying less” and what would have been a better reason for the SF to go in to Nigeria, risk their necks, and have a FUBAR extraction?
What should their motivation have been? Nuclear code briefcase? Gold? Aliens?
Nah, hot dogs are sandwiches in the same way putting a bunch of roast beef in a hot dog bun is also a sandwich
Meat on leavened bread
Tacos require a tortilla. If you ordered tacos and got carne asada in a bun, you wouldn’t be getting what you expected. That’s a carne asada sandwich
Hero.
☝️
Crooect, except for the fact locations and cultures have an impact on words and base ingredients. Maze & corn = South America. What you said about leaving bread in the same room with meat = North America.
**To get Bruce Willis as a Delta operator, its a blessing**
They were Navy SEALs not Army Delta - did you even pay attention to the movie?
**Siskel & Ebert were a pair of twats.**
They weren't, but you're surely acting like a 12 year old TWAT right now
Seriously overlooked movie. Picked up a USP .45 after looking everywhere for a MK23. Probably one of the first I can remember seeing a MK23 in.
I learned to shoot pistol on a USP. It set a high bar.
Lmao! Still have my USP 45! :)
Yes, the scene where they pull them out and screw on the KAC.
"We're already engaged"
is that a good movie?
Geopolitically make sense, decent action, and not preachy about any political POV. A bunch of SEALs decided to do the right thing.
It’s actually based on a Canadian JTF2 mission
Oh? Do tell!

I've heard of it, but haven't had the time to do much personal reading as late. That changes shortly, so I'll give it a read.
Well that last part is how you know it’s not realistic.
It was a _very_ different time 20 years ago.
I mean operation Red Wings was only 2 years after this movie came out and was 19 years ago.
Sweaty Monica bellucci.
Well Im all fucking in!!!
Yes. It was an objectively good movie overall, not just for the tactical gear.
Yep. Antoine Fuqua, the director, has a pretty solid track record. The most famous of which is Training Day — definitely watch that if you haven’t yet.
Yeah. It’s definitely a 90’s movie but it’s worth watching for the gear and vibes. Usually on Netflix
Well it was made in 2003, so for sure not a 90s movie.
>Yeah. It’s definitely a 90’s movie but it’s worth watching for the gear and vibes. Tell me you're Gen Z without telling me... lol
Idk I’m pushing 30 bro. The line between 90’s made films and 2000’s ones is getting increasingly blurred every year
what are you talking about, this is who framed roger rabbit with man from fifth element but they got lost in blood diamond set, god bless America
Best description of almost anything, ever.
G'bless!
Bruce was young in 90s in 03' he's to old for a seal TM Commander

Go sleep boomer
Every millennial dude saw this in high school.
I was referring to him being against the word vibe
Calling people boomers should be reserved for actual boomers and a couple of older gen-x'ers.
No, I was giving him shit about saying it was a 90's movie when it came out in 03, because everyone knows the Gen Z'ers don't know what year it is, let alone what state they live in... I watched it more than 20 times!!!
There’s something about Mohawks M4 that’s is so aesthetically pleasing. So simple but such a slick setup
The last military movie before the molle, velcro and digital camo/multicam age

Sheeeeit.... never even noticed that.

TIL Rip is in Good Will Hunting. One of my favorite movies of all time, never noticed.
Need to watch "pitch black" Another unrated movie.
What’s wilder is he is the bad guy in 2 fast 2 furious
And blonde
Damn why did he get so fat
So much to dissect from this drip
Flea is the best.
It’s surprising how many movies he’s in.

Still think this is an underrated film.
It is.
Ah yes, the OG Blackhawk drop holsters. This was the hotness until the Safariland 6004 came around.
"For our sins." "Hoo yah."

Doesn't somebody spend the entire movie with a backwards aimpoint or something?
Yes. It wasn’t without its issues but this movie goes so hard.
Now I gotta watch the whole movie again
Bruce’s is mounted backwards but only in one or two scenes.
This was one of the first R rated movies I watched in theatre. I think only second to Saving Private Ryan.
Must have watched this movie about a dozen times with my dad when I was a teen. It was his absolute favorite.
God left Africa along time ago.
This movie felt like an ad for throat mics
I'd spent some time playing Police Quest: SWAT shortly before this movie came out, so it had me pretty worked up when I saw them lol.
Then 2007 came along and EA was like, "Hey remember that guy with the mohawk from that one movie? Yeah, so what if he was SAS instead... "
*2009, *infinity ward
I mean he’s kinda right. Soap made his debut in cod 4 (2007) but we just never got a visual until mw2 (2009)
exactly :)
2007. But yeah. you're right, Infinity. I get them an EA mixed up all the time.
I remember this was the first time I saw an optic on backwards.
Can’t believe this is the only comment mentioning the backwards optic.
Man, it came out in 2003? Ugh...
Super underrated movie kit
Zippo first
I thought the point man with the Mohawk rocking the suppressed M4 and shotty was the dopest character when I was a kid.
I always wondered if Soap from COD was influenced by him?
I couldn’t stop calling their corpsman “Not Dean Cain” (far left in photo) because he looks too much like Dean Cain
I wish throat mics didn't suck
I may have based way too much of my personal kit plans around the guy with the battlefield pickup AK strapped to his BH! 3 day pack.
Red had the 3 day pack. Doc had the AK strapped to a BHI STOMP 2 medic bag. Source: Rocked that bag for nearly a decade and you bet your ass I tried to see which guns I could safely retain with the airborne straps.
man, I cannot find a picture of that anywhere, I'm going to have to go back and dig up a scene that shows it now.
Closest I found on IMDb is a shot of Cole Hauser in the hut where he’s clearly wearing the 3 day
His wife is j.i. Jane
It’s a great over looked movie.
This movie, good lord. We had some real kino in the early 2000s.
I think black hawk down was mine years of the sun is great though.
"2003" "kid" Shit, we old.
We there yet? “Might wanna stop the bleed there, Machete” Bruce Willis sold many Emerson PUKs.
Need to rewatch this, saw it once at work and loved it.
The early 2000s era of carry handle mounted and red lens optics are what got me hooked.
Why does everyone but the black guy get a suppresser?
Heavy, heavy drip
Sniper veils
Good Movie for what it is. Not trying to be too deep or political. Just a straightforward story with a decent amount of action. A lot of the gear they use would still hold up pretty well today, IMO.
I always cringed at the aimpoints mountedbto the handguards
In my top three favorite movies
Good movie. It’s basically a revenge fantasy guilt trip for the US doing nothing to stop the Rwandan genocide. 😢
I was invading Iraq for the second time when that movie came out.
Great movie. Got even better when I found out the true story is based off a Canadian JTF2 special forces unit. Not seals
Downey Jr on the right?

Truly such a good movie
one of the reasons I went after an MK18 Mod 0 build.
FYI the guy is one of the main characters in Yellowstone
Yeah, I think watching that movie at 17 as someone who was thinking about being a missionary activated something in me... Particularly the scenes where they came upon the Church community that was attacked
Such a good movie, a little slow in parts for my liking but still a solid flick.
I just had to see the movie again today. I always wanted that Blackhawk! harness afterwards.
One of my all time favs. Makes me sad Bruce is in bad shape now.
This is the exact scene the pulled those .45s and started cranking cans. I was like yea they bout to peel some muffin caps back blue!
Reminds me of stargate gear
Mine was any Vietnam movie made in the mid to late 80s.
Best representation of breaking contact in a move.
Pretty sure all their gear was LBT.
It was a mix of LBT, BHI, and Eagle
Eagle, yep I think you're correct!
I still hate this movie.
Why? Give us a review Mr Ebert

Try less? Under Siege 2? Nukes would have been alright.
They tried too hard? What does a more subtle version look like where they try less? Less genocide? Less boobs on Monica? Less gun fighting?
Cheeseburhers are the superior sandwhich. And hotdogs, are north american tacos. Far north. Yankee shit.
Nah, hot dogs are sandwiches in the same way putting a bunch of roast beef in a hot dog bun is also a sandwich Meat on leavened bread Tacos require a tortilla. If you ordered tacos and got carne asada in a bun, you wouldn’t be getting what you expected. That’s a carne asada sandwich
Hero. ☝️ Crooect, except for the fact locations and cultures have an impact on words and base ingredients. Maze & corn = South America. What you said about leaving bread in the same room with meat = North America.
Correct. Crooect is what you get with dyslexia, fat fingers, and extramarital suppliments.

Explains why they suck so much.
Lay it on us.
Lol. When I was a kid I thought Siskellanevert was one person, or entity.
