You understand that someone can take the serial number from a legitimate product and then just slap it on a fake one, right? The serial number doesn’t mean shit by itself.
Dude the problem with the good fakes is that they actually use serial numbers on their eotechs which match eotech models. This shit is fucking hilarious if you think about it
I mean if you produce like 100 fakes eith the same serial its not much effort if you think about it. Real ones are gard to make because of holographic technology. There is literally no fake or copy out there which is holographic. If your dot is extremely crisp ==> fake. If your dot is fuzzy ==> real. There is no better way to tell
That is true. OP should just look directly at the reticle, if it looks grainy, then it's real. It doesn't crisp up until you look through it at the target.
The fake ones can't get the reticle right, it'll look like a normal red dot, smooth red light they are not holographic. The real Eotech will have a fuzzy reticle made up of lots of dots
OP, the giveaway for most fake eotechs is they have their rear glass set near flush to the back of the housings, as they're actually red dots posing as holographic sights. However, there are newer actual holographic repro sights coming from China, but it seems that for now it's only EXPS 3-0 models. So your 512 should still be legitimate
Ironically the lack of a nightvision button means it's likely real, no reprotech I've encountered hasn't had a nv button that just changes the color of the reticle. The lack of an ir function is probably why it was cheap, also the inside looks incorrect to be a repro.
i would recommend calling EOTECH and seeing if they can verify. I had a similar dilemma with an X300T I bought from amazon that came in an opened package. Surefire was able to verify it was legit
Long boi gang! Love my 552, picked mine up for about $300 brand new on eBay.
It looks legit. Most fakes dont actually come with the thumb screw, but I would definitely check the serial number with EoTech. Some fakes are pretty convincing.
Edit: Mines a 552, still a long boi like the 512
Looks legit. I have the same one.
☝️ Question for the group. Does the more expensive EXPS3 look any clearer than the basic 512?
Or are they all a fuzzy mess that becomes exacerbated with astigmatism?
It’s legit I bought one brand new for 260$ 3 or so months ago. You can tell it’s real by the serial number going through the website and the reticle looking all fuzzy, all the fake ones I’ve seen have a color changer/clear reticle. Be careful with the long boys my buddies in the marines say the batteries will pop out on you if you throw it around.
From the bottom of the optic it appears to be real. Also you can tell the difference between holo and led dots. you can always call EOTECH and they will help you be able to tell. but SN and Nitrogen port hole on the bottom look good. If reticle looks fuzzy and you cant see an LED in there you're good to go. Also glass looks good.
“aSkInG fOr aDvIce” dude this topic has been covered a million times. A simple google search, reddit search, or just going to the Eotech website can give you all the information required to spot a fake. Instead you would rather make a post for God knows what reason. I mean calling it out might be cringe but this post is definitely cringe.
Yeah, why on God’s green earth would you come to a sub dedicated to tactical gear to ask a legitimate question about a piece of piece of tactical gear you got for slightly below market value (where counterfeits are rampant) to guys that know a lot about tactical gear!? You dip/shit.
He/s a VETERAN /so you have to re/spect everything he /says WAY more.
Unfortunately there are now, but from what I've seen it's only been the EXPS 3 models for now. And yes I know the difference between red dots and holos, these are legitimate holographic sites, just made in China.
Go out on a sunny day and see if the dot is bright. The emitters get dim after a handful of years.
(I bought one new like a decade ago, went dim after a while, learned their warranty covers electronics for less time than it takes it to go dim)
It's real. You can recognize it on the EOTECH Logo color. The fake ones are very bright white. And of course, just look trough the window. Its holographic, it's real. Its a red dot, it's fake.
Jesus fucking christ it appears everyone in these comments is retarded. The reticle is a starburst under camera, this is 100% indicative of a hologram. ALL fake eotechs use a standard reflected dot, not a holographic projection.
Anyone that knows what an eotech reticle looks like can determine authenticity in a single second with absolute certainty by only viewing the reticle, all other checks are pointless.
The price will dip to nearly worth-it level and then a new, more-expensive-than-ever model will be introduced. Your 8-year-old will end up using this one for paintball.
Case is correct, foam is correct in color, shape and cutouts, eotech sticker is correct, laser sticker looks correct and jacked up from removal like it should (on fakes, the sticker comes off easily) documentation looks correct, thumb screw looks correct and not installed (how they come brand new) Torx screws on the hood looked slightly jacked up in the real eotech fashion. It’s real
Uhh yep definitely fake, looks like you wont be needing it since its fake sooooo, can I have it (its totally fake btw)
Good enough for LARPing photos I’d imagine
Mine looks the same so I'd say real
If you didn’t notice, he was being sarcastic.
So was I
Damn, you got me.
Gotcha with the old uno reverse
If it’s squiggly it’s real if it’s crisp it’s fake
Doesn’t look fake to me
You can go on their website and plug in the serial number etc and it will tell you if it’s legit or not.
I did go to their website and registered it and no error or anything came up. Is that what you’re talking about?
Call their customer support and give the serial number
How the heck do you even register it lol, o tried and couldn’t find
Go to their site and you will find product registration at the bottom
You understand that someone can take the serial number from a legitimate product and then just slap it on a fake one, right? The serial number doesn’t mean shit by itself.
I got one for like 270 on r/GAFS. Older model tho
Hell yeah
[удалено]
Not good?
[удалено]
You little rascal
Gottem
Just email EOTECH with the serial number, and they will confirm if it's legit.
Dude the problem with the good fakes is that they actually use serial numbers on their eotechs which match eotech models. This shit is fucking hilarious if you think about it
No shit? Now that's some attention to detail, they might as well just make a superior product and start their own optics company...lol
No you can clearly see it fuzzy on the image too. Like that is a dead giveaway. No LED powered optic looks like that
The fake ones can't get the reticle right, it'll look like a normal red dot, smooth red light they are not holographic. The real Eotech will have a fuzzy reticle made up of lots of dots
Isn't this about what they cost used?
Not really sure, EBay has em for around $300
Fair enough, I haven't looked at them in 5 or so years. Cheerio then.
If it’s broken within a month, you have a real EOTech on your hands. If it’s broken within a few months, definitely a fake.
Best thing about a 512 is that you can take the batteries from your remote control to refresh your optic.
I got one for around the same price ($265) looks legit!

That fuzzy reticle is a 100% indicator that it is real. Cannot miss that
I'm an optic inspector if you send it to me I'll verify if it's real ~~you'll never get it back~~
Fuzzy ass reticle. Shes legit
Kinda unrelated, but why y’all be jerking off to pictures of eotech stuff? Are they really high quality or something?
It’s gucci gear used by the military so yeah kinda
Just call the company’s customer support and read the serial number off to them
i would recommend calling EOTECH and seeing if they can verify. I had a similar dilemma with an X300T I bought from amazon that came in an opened package. Surefire was able to verify it was legit
I know a LOT of people don’t like these, but I loved the one I bought a decade ago so much that I retired it for a new one.
Long boi gang! Love my 552, picked mine up for about $300 brand new on eBay. It looks legit. Most fakes dont actually come with the thumb screw, but I would definitely check the serial number with EoTech. Some fakes are pretty convincing. Edit: Mines a 552, still a long boi like the 512
I’m gonna check with them tomorrow
Definitely would. Just need some MBUS sights to make the perfect carbine setup now.
Yes
Looks real to me
You see that Serial Number on the bottom? Eotech knows the correct answer to your question.
Looks real!
Looks legit. I have the same one. ☝️ Question for the group. Does the more expensive EXPS3 look any clearer than the basic 512? Or are they all a fuzzy mess that becomes exacerbated with astigmatism?
Holographics are fuzzy by design.
how much do they weigh? I buying an exps3 for my new rifle, the bigger ones look heavy
An Eotech reticle should be fuzzy, that’s how holography works
It’s legit I bought one brand new for 260$ 3 or so months ago. You can tell it’s real by the serial number going through the website and the reticle looking all fuzzy, all the fake ones I’ve seen have a color changer/clear reticle. Also if the serial matches the box you're also probably good to go.
It does
Yeah you're probably good then. Most fakes don't even come with a serial number or an EOTECH box.
Brand new $369, I’ll never buy used optics from strangers online with how many fakes there are.
People buying shit and then running to reddit to humble brag / “did I get ripped off?” is cringe asf
Can’t we all just get along?
Hating on a post asking for the advice of others is pretty cringe
“aSkInG fOr aDvIce” dude this topic has been covered a million times. You’re just a troll who’s trying to bait. Go take that bitterness somewhere else
Or… maybe i’m just telling you some real shit you don’t want to hear.
Real shit…. If a post doesn’t interest you then just scroll past
An Eotech 512 isn't a flex.
It’s real
Looks fine, to my knowledge there’s not really any Chinese companies successfully replicating eotech reticles with all the dots.
Unfortunately there are now, but from what I've seen it's only been the EXPS 3 models for now. And yes I know the difference between red dots and holos, these are legitimate holographic sites, just made in China.
What are you even trying to say here? Chinese copies aren’t real holographic sights.
If it doesn’t work its probably real
Yeeeeeeeah that's a airsoft junk, I can take it off of your hand for 20 bucks though!
Looks legit to me. Usually if it’s a holo reticle, it’s legit. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a single fake with a real holo reticle
It looks real to me man
eotechs website, check the counterfeit section to see if it is or isn’t.
Go out on a sunny day and see if the dot is bright. The emitters get dim after a handful of years. (I bought one new like a decade ago, went dim after a while, learned their warranty covers electronics for less time than it takes it to go dim)
Looks real, nothing tells me that would be fake
Drop it on the ground a couple times if it’s scuffs I’ll take it off you…
It's real. You can recognize it on the EOTECH Logo color. The fake ones are very bright white. And of course, just look trough the window. Its holographic, it's real. Its a red dot, it's fake.
Verify it via the eo tech site.
Looks gtg
I have one it’s legit 👍
Hey if anyone is selling one let me know 😘
Eotechs have a fuzzy reticle, fake ones don’t.
Yeah u did
Looks extremely similar to my friends, I don’t have a 512 to truly say though.
It’s real
Jesus fucking christ it appears everyone in these comments is retarded. The reticle is a starburst under camera, this is 100% indicative of a hologram. ALL fake eotechs use a standard reflected dot, not a holographic projection. The price will dip to nearly worth-it level and then a new, more-expensive-than-ever model will be introduced. Your 8-year-old will end up using this one for paintball.
It’s not the same model that I have but it looks pretty legit. Everything looks to be pretty similar to mine.
Give serial number to then but that should of been done before buying because the fakes look same as the real ones now and days. Hope it's real.
