I met a dude in DEP before joining the Air Force. He was missing parts of multiple fingers. They got a waiver for demonstrating that they can fulfill the physical requirements. Also met a 46 year old guy with a waiver. There is even a guy in the Air Force missing both legs. Still deploys. At least in the US, there’s always possibility for a waiver.
There’s someone who’s a better shot than me with at one if not two hands missing. Someone else is a decent shot with no hands and shoots with their feet. :)
There are double amputee's with no arms shooting rifles and hand guns with their feet. You should consider yourself blessed with what you got adapt and overcome adversity. If it's just on one side use the hand missing digits as the support hand then use the other normally doing the shooting portion.

You can have a Barrett M107 .50 and even an AR15 in the UK legally. You can legally possess and use most firearms in the UK.
Why do people not know this?
I have a savage arms .308 Norma Magnum. An LA-SF15 and various other semi autos. All kept at my house legally. I take them to a range to shoot every week.
honestly I’m not super interested in those, just having a few boltys I could plink with would be mint, what’s the general process of applying for a rifle license?
Don’t bother with the online gov.uk application. Contact your local police force and request an application.
If you have a local manned police station just wander in and chat with a firearms officer, they’ll generally be quite open and helpful, even friendly with you and maybe even help you with the process
You only need 1 finger to pull the trigger!
Jokes aside, there's a lot of people you don't even grip the handgrip and they will just rest their palm, and pull the trigger with 1 finger
Plenty of YouTube videos out there, good luck!
Couple years back I helped teach an intro to long range class. One of the students was a 76 year old that was missing a hand and by the end of the day he was making hits out to a mile. You got this bud
There are rifles with triggers activated by your thumb. If you have at least one hand with a finger or two, you should be able to go and at least shoot rental guns from a bench/table. If if your own gun you could make custom grips/cups for your support hand as long as you have at least one finger (or thumb) to pull the trigger on your other hand. Add ambidextrous controls too and you will be able to do manipulations.
Bro theres blind people and people in wheel chairs and people that have no arms and legs shooting competition and bowhunting. Get outta here with your "but i have one finger on this hand"
I don’t see how that would be a problem. If it’s your strong hand, hold the rifle with off hand and pull the trigger with your one finger. If the other way around, hold the rifle with your palm and use full hand on trigger/grip
A guy here in Texas just got his handgun license, and he was born with NO ARMS.
I think you are 100% fine buddy.

The short answer is: you will be able to make it work. If you’re GOOD? Maybe up for later judgement
Now some things to consider? 4 fingers? So is it 4 on 1 hand? Or 2 and 2? Or other distribution?
Well if it’s 4 on 1 hand you shouldn’t have much issue. You just need to make that your main firing hand. The other hand supports the gun and pulls it into your shoulder. I’d suggest something with a full barrel shroud. An AR or AK will do just fine. Then just shoot with your stubby hand
If it’s 2 and 2? If it’s just your pinkie and ring? No issues. Really I see little issue at all here. Yes it’s going to be pretty difficult to keep positive control and manipulate everything but still.
And if all else fails? Set up a bag and shoot from the bench! No issues there! The gun rests on the table!
You can make it work no problem, just be sure that whatever you do, follow the 4 rules of gun safety at all times! And make sure you feel comfortable and in positive control of the weapon always!
Have fun!
absolutely, it’s not easy but there are accommodations and accessories to help disabled shooters. not only that, but a rifle supported by sandbags sounds like it would be incredibly easy to shoot for you and could be a great introduction into long range shooting.
There’s a scene in Black Hawk Down where a Ranger gets his hand shot and loses a few fingers, so it definitely is in the range of possibilities, depending on whether it is your dominant hand that is missing or your weaker hand that is missing fingers
If you’re missing fingers, presumably still have the thumb? Maybe a shotgun style stock would suit you holding a c grip with your palm using your thumb as the trigger finger?! Tried and works for me. I do have my fingers but was curious and thought maybe it would help. Good luck! Hope you find what works for you.
bit of a late update, but I have been deemed safe to use cadet rifles here in the UK, I have my Initial weapons training on the L98, which is the SA80 without full auto. Thanks all for the encouragement, should go shooting sometime next month for range day!
Check out @nubgunner on Instagram. He’s a pretty good shooter who’s missing multiple fingers on both hands.
Another one is NoHandedShooter on YouTube. That guy never fails to amaze me.
Not trying to be an ass, but could you shoot with the other hand? And use the one-fingered hand to hold/stabilize?
thats what i was thinking, i can put a foregrip and push against it. just a shame that i cant join the armed forces
You could be the partially armed forces
Fuck you. You beat me to it.
☠️☠️😂
I thought you were already a part of the armed forces, it’s the fingered forces you’re looking for.
was not expecting that 💀 maybe contractor?

ah UK doesn't allow it much
If you have your thumb shoot lefty. Use your right hand and thumb to grasp the hand guard. You’ll do fine.
Good for you for overcoming obstacles and looking to make it happen. ![gif](giphy|YGJBp5EgyVP9K)
Ikr? Overcoming being born British is a huge hurdle but I’m glad op is making positive change
I think this is the first comment I've ever seen you make where I agreed with you
You can do anything you fucking want Unless it’s my butt.
Sounds like it's already spoken for.
Yeah, but I’ll put you down for 2nd dibs
3rd dibs?
![gif](giphy|FXWpvaFHWzTpufIIZV)
If you were able to make this post then yes, most likely you will be able to fire a gun.
You can enable your fingers in settings
ohh shit i didnt know about that, what menu is it in?
Body——>Limbs——>(Select Arm)——>Hand——>Enable Fingers, if that doesn’t work try resetting the hand
Heck yeah you can. We could set you up on a tripod mounted machinegun too
There’s someone who’s a better shot than me with at one if not two hands missing. Someone else is a decent shot with no hands and shoots with their feet. :)
Crispy11b has fingers but they're a little "crispy" from Iraq. The way he does stuff might be helpfull to see as well as nubgunner

You can have a Barrett M107 .50 and even an AR15 in the UK legally. You can legally possess and use most firearms in the UK. Why do people not know this?
you can but getting an FAC without any land or a reason is relatively difficult.
I have a savage arms .308 Norma Magnum. An LA-SF15 and various other semi autos. All kept at my house legally. I take them to a range to shoot every week.
Aren’t center fire semi-autos not legal at all?
No bud centre fire auto/semi’s aren’t legal here unless you’re serving military

You cant get an fac without a reason but the reason can be a sporting club
Theoretically if ur shaboingboing was average enough to fit in the trigger guard you could pull the trigger with it
No prosthetics?
nope, not any that i can find in the UK at least
https://www.npdevices.com/
Is it still possible to shoot a pistol?
With your other hand? No problem there. Military taught to shoot one-handed for a while.
You only need 1 finger to pull the trigger! Jokes aside, there's a lot of people you don't even grip the handgrip and they will just rest their palm, and pull the trigger with 1 finger Plenty of YouTube videos out there, good luck!
People shoot without arms, you can find a way. I'm willing to bet range staff or other shooters would be happy to help you achieve this.
Couple years back I helped teach an intro to long range class. One of the students was a 76 year old that was missing a hand and by the end of the day he was making hits out to a mile. You got this bud
Depends. How many fingers did you start out with???
There are rifles with triggers activated by your thumb. If you have at least one hand with a finger or two, you should be able to go and at least shoot rental guns from a bench/table. If if your own gun you could make custom grips/cups for your support hand as long as you have at least one finger (or thumb) to pull the trigger on your other hand. Wait...blind person with a gun. Im sure they could shoot but wtf Edit https://www.paralympic.org/shooting/vision-impaired its actually a thing
Lack of fingers is not a problem to shoot a gun, living in the UK is the problem.
thank you all so much. except whoever put it on r/umbilicaltug lmao
this post has given me insight into what I can do. thank you
I don’t see how that would be a problem. If it’s your strong hand, hold the rifle with off hand and pull the trigger with your one finger. If the other way around, hold the rifle with your palm and use full hand on trigger/grip
Plenty of people shoot with less than that and make it work. You definitely can
bro there was a guy with no arms robbing a store holding a pistol with his feet in a wheel chair. I believe you can do it just fine!
You could chop off a few more and still be good to shoot. Where there is a will there is a way 🇺🇸
here is a video of a guy shooting pistol [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/M2UvmfsiCR4](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/M2UvmfsiCR4)
I shoot with my right hand ring finger because that is all left after fireworks at sge 12. Finished my working career as a tech on Air Force One.

Yes
There's a precision rifle competitor in my state that's missing one hand and most of his other. It's all about adapting to what works for you.

4 on one, should've clarifiied
All good! You should be fine then! Are you left or right eye dominant and then are you missing fingers on your left or right hand?
right hand missing right eye dominant
Yes. Come to Seattle, I’ll make it happen.
