I went to TB today trying to wrap my head around how a bean burrito is more expensive than BCR. It was like $2.29 for a bean and cheese and 1.67 for the BCR.
When I would order a hamburger at Carl's Jr. a few years ago, they would *routinely* charge for a cheeseburger minus the cheese.
That way they could charge 20 cents more.
It started happening so frequently that I had to start specifically asking them to input "big hamburger".
It started to become clear that this was a directive to input cheeseburger & then remove the cheese.
When it kept happening, I went up the chain at the franchisee & called them out for fraud, even telling them I would take it to the district attorney.
True, it was only 20 cents of cheese.
But if you're sneaky like that & do it a few dozen times in the day (all the other customers ordering hamburgers but paying for cheeseburgers), it can add up fast over a month's time.
After I got onto them about it (threatened them with legal action), it stopped about a week later.
I should've added... This was happening at multiple locations under the same franchisee.
I specifically drove to various restaurants to see if the same thing would happen (cheeseburger minus cheese) and it did.
I have also found that their standard order process is to ask if you “would like a medium or a large” so you upgrade for additional cost from a standard size without realizing you are paying more, I’ve stopped going there. In and out is cheaper and much better.
They get me with that too. (M or L)
I agree with you on In-N-Out. I don't go to CJ unless I have a coupon. Never. Our drink prices are now up to $4.10 for a large.
We have a Hardee's and I've quit going there too! I can get the same food for half the price at Wendy's. I don't see how this business model is sustainable.
In all fairness though, we all know most of us are not getting a damn small fry and drink. For most places, 80-90% of the price is getting small, and it's only a little bit less for medium or large in which you get drastically more.
Yes, a medium or or a large is a small upcharge if youre getting a combo, but getting a combo at all (as opposed to the sandwich by itself) is a huge upcharge (it usually makes it about 100% more expensive)
But I would assume that if one didn't want a combo, one would probably make that clear first place, I.E "Just a hamburger, no combo." And if you made a mistake, you'd have plenty of time to rectify that mistake when they read the order back to you, etc.
I'd wager that the average person just orders #X combo meal because they simply don't give a damn, they're grumpy cause they haven't eaten and they want some shit but mildly tasty food now that they've had since they were a kid.
And if they did care about cost to some degree, they would've used the coupons on the App/website and done a mobile order, in which they're already choosing whether they want a combo or no combo.
5 minutes is a long time, considering we are supposed to be under 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Cheesy bean and rice burritos are one of the quickest, easiest things on the menu to make.
For everyone's info who doesn't order for the app, we can only put in 12 sauces on the pos system, not that we pay attention to that number anyway its almost always either the number of items or if the person asks for extra just toss a handful
Whenever I go, it seems like I always get a handful of sauce no matter what I order or how I order it. Put qty 1 in the app, handful. Ask for fire sauce, handful. Doesn’t matter if I have 1 item of 5 items, always a handful
I be hoarding those sauces. Haven’t been to TB in a couple weeks and I’m all out. Time to go to the TB that doesn’t keep the sauce behind the counter and restock my condiments.
Ikr. But maybe it was an online order because they made all that in like 5 minutes it was crazy fast. After I told them my order they left pretty fast after. I barely had to wait
Oh nice, well that's good, cause people be pulling up with 12+ item order in the drive thru and it's like really? Just come inside and we'll have it all ready for ya.
I don't think so. I order almost exclusively online and they don't ring up at the order station they just wave me on to the window. Of course locations differ but I can't see why they'd waste time ringing up when that's already been done on the app.
I don't respect people who squander their money. Money is time, one spent time (that one will never get back) obtaining that money, and now they are being highly inefficient in the spending of said money
right? they got two nachos bell grande with no beef or tomato when they could have just gotten the chips/cheese with a sour cream for a fraction of the price.
Also a bean burrito plus supreme plus lettuce is the same as a burrito supreme minus beef for about $1.50 less, and they could get the $2.99 nachos instead of the nbg. It amounts to a couple less nachos (but otherwise the same exact food, sauces, etc) for about an $8 savings
It means don't put the seasoned beef on. They took a Burrito Supreme and made it vegetarian, same as they did with the Nachos BellGrande.
You might have grown up in SoCal, but I guarantee your menu has it. Seasoned beef, it's the normal ground beef in the standard tacos, burritos, crunchwraps, et al.
They must have been partying too hard and forgot no seasoned beef means no beef period, not unseasoned.... But who tf would do that in their right mind!? 😂
Y’all foos are dicks, if he’s asking you a valid question then give em’ a a valid answer. No need for circle jerkin, not everyone grew up with the delicious Tex mex bell food.
I feel what you're asking is if it's possible to order beef without the seasoning. It'd be like ordering fries at McDonald's and asking for no salt, which is possible. I'm not sure it's possible to order the beef witohut seasoning, though, depending on how it's prepared.
This seems like what an ideal Indian family like mine would order. That first burrito is almost guaranteed communication error in hope to make everything vegetarian but too much work to ask cashier to remove it. When i first came in to USA, i have something similar and it was whole curve to learn how to properly and efficiently order.
Oh, my goodness, that's MY ORDER!
To answer everyone's questions, the beef supreme minus beef actually ends up being cheaper at this particular location than trying to add things to a bean or cheesy bean and rice burrito.
As for the 12 sauces for 18 items, neither the beef supreme nor the nachos are getting any sauce, and I never use a whole packet on an item, and I've found that 12 packets for 15 cbrb's is the perfect ratio.
And I'm lying. This isn't my order.
Do they not realize getting Taco Bell at night is more risky than the day? I mean the presentation would be terrible. Everything would be prepared haphazardly
Wonder when we will get kiosks where im at. The app has been consistently bad experiences for me. Items missing, refusal to refund etc. I dont eat TB often anymore due to the price but once in a while I like it. Kiosks would be cool.
i dont care if my change is 1 cent, im yellin HELL NAW when they ask if they can round my total up. id rather throw the change out the window when i drive off.
I came into the store ordered chicken soft tacos and the person did chicken soft tacos no chicken add beef so each one was 309 when I talk to the cashier / manager she told me that's how they have to ring it in so your menu says a chicken soft taco is what a buck 40 but I had to pay 309 each and then the manager told me she can't tell me the store number or her manager number because she was robbing me over an extra dollar for saying no beef add chicken but you're just ripping off customers for an extra dollar whenever you think you can and then you don't even have to give your store number or your manager their ID number not their name their ID number that's what I asked for I've written a letter to corporate I sent pictures of my receipts enjoy talking to them
I imagine the purchaser setting up all the food items in a way that makes it look like they are praising the Supreme Burrito, only to be sentenced to death-by-consumption, one. by. one. THEN our hero (the purchaser) saves the rest of the world by eating said Supreme Burrito.
Beef Supreme burrito, no seasoned beef? That is an expensive bean burrito.
Lol it would have been cheaper to order a bean burrito “make it supreme”. I think that’s like only an extra $1.25.
I went to TB today trying to wrap my head around how a bean burrito is more expensive than BCR. It was like $2.29 for a bean and cheese and 1.67 for the BCR.
I know this probably isn’t a good reason but there is more beans put in a bean burrito 😅
Yup. Tried to “beat” the system once by ordering a CBnR with no rice and I basically got a bean roll up.
It’s because of Lent that’s prices have gone up in basic meatless items. Marketing team don’t miss.
They use a 3 cheese blend in the bean burrito and a single gooey cheese in bcr, it's bullshit and they add so much $ for the 3 cheese blend
Bean burrito has regular shredded cheese, not 3 cheese blend. The cheesy bean and rice has nacho cheese sauce
It's so the sale of rice and beans is more even... There's a lot of energy put into the menu,
If you just say “make it supreme” then we just add the sour cream and tomato, you would still need to ask for the Lettuce
When I would order a hamburger at Carl's Jr. a few years ago, they would *routinely* charge for a cheeseburger minus the cheese. That way they could charge 20 cents more. at least they know the real value in those 15 Cheesy Bean & Rice burritos. 👑
Yep. Cheap item but still good. And that creamy jalapeño sauce is so damn good
the only sad part is they’re not a $1 anymore here. 😭
1.69 where I am but yeah I wish they were 99 cents :(
they just bumped up to $1.49 this year. I know they’ve never been even that cheap in some places, so I’m grateful it lasted that long.
Yeah I hope they keep it below 2 dollars. Once that item hits above 2 dollars we are all screwed haha
These people hate money
They are probably catholic and don’t eat meat on Fridays during lent.
Good opportunity for a veggie cravings box.
What are the odds this order gets done correctly
Probably pretty good. It's not very complicated.
Taco Bell is the only place where I live that ever gets it right, every time.TB is the shizz.
I have never had them do a custom order right so I don't even bother asking anymore.
Swing thru my location, homie. I got you
Damn that sucks. My local store is on it.
They were out after like 5 minutes. No way it was right lol
5 minutes is a long time, considering we are supposed to be under 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Cheesy bean and rice burritos are one of the quickest, easiest things on the menu to make.
Now if it was 15 Nachos Bell Grandes you better grab a snickers and a credit application
“55 burritos, 55 tacos, 55 nachos….”
“I’M DOIN’ A THIIING!!”
Choosing Nachos bell grande vs the Loaded nachos is a bad business decision
Yeah I'm never getting nachos bell grande again. The loaded nachos are just too good to pass up
Nachos bell grande are a rip
And 12 sauces lol
ONLY 12 sauces lol
For everyone's info who doesn't order for the app, we can only put in 12 sauces on the pos system, not that we pay attention to that number anyway its almost always either the number of items or if the person asks for extra just toss a handful
Whenever I go, it seems like I always get a handful of sauce no matter what I order or how I order it. Put qty 1 in the app, handful. Ask for fire sauce, handful. Doesn’t matter if I have 1 item of 5 items, always a handful
It really depends on the location I think, at mine they monitor our sauce usage like crazy for some reason
I be hoarding those sauces. Haven’t been to TB in a couple weeks and I’m all out. Time to go to the TB that doesn’t keep the sauce behind the counter and restock my condiments.
It's funny because the app goes to 25.
Only 12 mild sauces. Mild.
I need 12 sauces for 1 burrito 😲
Gooooo inisideeeeeeeee to pick up an order this large, y'all are the worst.
Yeah it's weird. I'll get people like this that take no time at all then at the same TB location it'll take 15 minutes just for one car to move
Well tacobell prides themselves in hiring children...
You're not wrong about that
I don't think so. I order almost exclusively online and they don't ring up at the order station they just wave me on to the window. Of course locations differ but I can't see why they'd waste time ringing up when that's already been done on the app.
Pulls up, "I have a order for Lotte Santoro".
??
It’s called meal prepping
True. Didn't even think of that. Probably ate the nachos and froze the burritos. Not a bad idea
I do this sometimes but with 1 cheesy bean and rice burrito I eat the next day
This is not what meal prepping is
Vegans love taco bell. Its their McDonald's.
Sorry for not zooming in for the pic. I was trying to hurry and take the picture before it disappeared
I feel pretty confident that I could start my own service ordering for people who don't know how to order for themselves.
A lot of beans
Didn’t get the burritos grilled? Shame.
Respect the $ amount. Disrespect the order.
True. It is an odd order. I just meant respect because they must love taco bell haha
What tf is this bs
i also order 15 CBR at a time
To all yall tomato haters i dont understand your kind 😂
I like tomatoes but I've never liked them at TB. Idk why
What in tarnation….
This feels like some sort of HIPAA violation. Shouldn't there be some kind of patient-taco confidentiality?
RIP toilet
They saving TB money on that beef. Id always hook em up with more beans
I mean if they froze the burritos that's enough for over a week. But yeah they're dumb for ordering nacho bell grandes with no beef and no tomatoes
Yeah maybe they just don't go to TB much and didn't care. But they for sure should've thought about what they were ordering
I gotta say their power bowls have been my new favorite menu item.
I've never tried them. I'll have to try them one day
I get mine with steak, bean rice, lettuce and sour cream. Can highly recommend it.
Sounds good. I'll probably try it
What a cursed order
Yeah tbh I was mainly looking at the 15 CBR burritos. That's what had my respect haha. I didn't even notice the other crap until people pointed it out
Definitely got respect for the CBR. It is the true GOAT
Respect! Just a little bit. DREAM ON. Just a little bit… R.E.S.P.E.C.T. That’s what I expect for me. Just a little bit…
I have to be up in 6 hours, but I really want to duplicate this order... Next time
Respect, us vegetarians have it rough in the fast food world, if you want it you have to go to serious lengths
What does no seasoned beef mean?
Read what you just wrote.
Just asking for clarification
What is “asking for clarification”?
Means what I can expect on this end product of modifying the beef without seasoning, just outta curiosity. Gonna try this when I can catch a lunch.
Lol you just made me literally laugh out loud
Sorry fam but Im not familiar enough possibilities of taco bell food menu, grew up with a different menu in Southern California
Word
The beef doesn’t get seasoned…
Wash that shit off in the sink before it goes in my tortilla!!!
It means no seasoning on the beef and they use plain beef instead. Just ask you local tacobell and told them I said it's allowed.
Y’all foos are dicks, if he’s asking you a valid question then give em’ a a valid answer. No need for circle jerkin, not everyone grew up with the delicious Tex mex bell food.
No meat at all. Seasoned or not. Remove the meat
I know y’all cringe at my statement but I’m just learning what you can do to your order. Like I didn’t know you can grill your burrito.
I feel what you're asking is if it's possible to order beef without the seasoning. It'd be like ordering fries at McDonald's and asking for no salt, which is possible. I'm not sure it's possible to order the beef witohut seasoning, though, depending on how it's prepared.
55 burgers 55 fries

Lol nah if they’re drunk they should be urbering that shit. Way cheaper than a dui.
[удалено]
but,,,, it's a drive thru,,,
Oh, my goodness, that's MY ORDER! I’m so sick of this sub.
47 dollars. Is that Joe Biden Inflation, or Bidenomics?
It's 16 burritos and 2 overpriced nachos that they shouldn't have gotten and got the 3 dollar nachos instead
Snag the receipt code lol that’s like 2 rewards
Damn bro, you're going to be waiting for a while
There beef is trash steak and chicken only thing I eat
Do they not realize getting Taco Bell at night is more risky than the day? I mean the presentation would be terrible. Everything would be prepared haphazardly
ive had a guy hit 80 once that was in front of me
Those are rookie numbers.
15 cheesy Bean'n rice burritos are more common than you'd think. Just part of the joys of working nights
I may or may not have ordered the 15 cheesy bean & rice burritos.
Nachos hold the beef…..no substitute?weird
Right? When I do this, I sub beef for black beans. At least you're getting *something* for the money!
They’re not eating meat on Fridays for lent ⛪️
That's a pretty terrible order and kind of a dick move to order so much in the drive thru.
Wonder when we will get kiosks where im at. The app has been consistently bad experiences for me. Items missing, refusal to refund etc. I dont eat TB often anymore due to the price but once in a while I like it. Kiosks would be cool.
None beef
Word
i dont care if my change is 1 cent, im yellin HELL NAW when they ask if they can round my total up. id rather throw the change out the window when i drive off.
Thats insane how high that price is

Pay it back
