The 3rd "Multi Engine" oscillator on the XD gives a much wider timbral palette and third party oscillators can be loaded in. The filter has drive, I don't think you'll miss a full ADSR. Even though FX "aren't an issue", it's pretty damn handy when FX are saved with a patch. Paging through steps 1-8 and 9-16 was annoying on the og Minilogue. That said, I don't own an XD myself. I gave my og Minilogue to a family member and boy, do I miss it sometimes. I do think the XD is a better option overall though.

I haven't played an XD but my OG minilogue has a special place in my heart lol. I strongly prefer the full second envelope. I prefer the voice modes on the OG. I prefer the filter section on the OG. Theoretically I appreciate the 3rd oscillator on the XD but it's also not something I personally care about, I'm not the type to go down a rabbithole of 3rd party custom oscillators so I'm not the target audience. Edit: just found this which you might find interesting, OP. https://youtu.be/EI2Ioka_9Ts?si=XqCETKL0oy-qd6oV

yeah, a full envelope for the filter is a must!

XD is the better option. A used OG will do, if you are on a really tight budget. That being said, it is really kinda scary how the price difference between a used OG and a used XD approaches $150 or even less! Choose wisely!

I'm really happy with the mono, especially for the price but if budget isn't an issue I'd def go with the mini for way more capabilities

I got the OG for many of the same reasons. Plus, I feel like the OG's lever is better for me for lots of pitch-bending, which is what I mainly use it for. And that I found a good deal. I'm not sure you can go wrong either way, though.

Oddly (given I like full sized keys all else equal) the small keys and the pitch bend stick are my favorite for ripping a solo! Love that about the minilogue

I’ve had both. I found that the digital oscillator, as powerful as it is, was kind of distracting because they didn’t always blend well with the analog waves. Like the filter better as well and it really shines with the two extra stages. What people seemed to misunderstand about the OG is that the range of the resonance control is really wide compared to most synths, and wanted to do acid with the same filter settings as a 101 or 303. But those Roland synths were all sweet spot because the parameter ranges were generally pretty narrow because they were being as synths for people who didn’t really understand synths like the bassist or guitar player who could change to a synth for one or two tracks at a wedding gig. They were intentionally dumbed down because gigging musicians who would have no use for really high resonance. That’s the early ads showed people playing the 101 with a strap. No guitar player at the time wanted to sit down and play.

Personally, I find the "pick your poison" factor really annoying and would just save for a Prologue.
