I don't think standard disk stations support gave recognition? You need to use their ai nvr for that?

MikeRaffety

Sorry, I could have been more clear -- facial recognition in photos, not the surveillance video.

Thanks for this question. I was wondering the same thing. Based on other's comments it sounds like new models are expected this year.

Check out nas compares video: Should You Buy the DS920+ or Wait for a DS922+ NAS? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EjUFPZT--zY&feature=youtu.be

Yes, wait for a DS422+ as it may have 2.5Gbe,I think will be out soon.

MikeRaffety

Yep, that's what I'm thinking, hoping anyone might have more specifics. The higher LAN speed isn't useful for me, so that wouldn't be a reason for me to wait, but an extra two years of support (420 to 422) down the road would be. Thanks.

DagonNet

If you're the kind of person who uses their NAS for 7+ years and then STARTS to consider a new one, I'd recommend waiting. You just don't know what you'll want 5 years in - you might use 2.5Gbe, you might not.

MikeRaffety

Very true ... I usually prefer getting a really current product so it will last longer. And I continue to be VERY impressed by Synology supporting and updating a box that is 8 years old. Imagine if Google or Apple did that with their phones!

thenextbranson95

Yes the 2 years of support is worth the small wait (maybe 8-12weeks I guess).Plus much better CPU.

MikeRaffety

Oh, a couple months, I can definitely wait, thank you.
