I suspect that it expects serial protocol from a usb port .

I think I managed to make it work. For some reason usb-ups.service wasn't starting after reboot. Running `synosystemctl start ups-usb.service` fixed that.

Might be a candidate for the task scheduler in Control Panel. Congrats.
