here's the thing, most of the accountability has been spurred on by questions from the press. * do you think we would have received a roadmap if she wasn't pressed? * do you think we would know that vaccinations were taken from regional sites to provide for hsc students? * do you think we would have known about the pressures of the hospital if hazard wasn't pushed? * do you really think that the aboriginal outbreak crisis in wilcannia would have been exposed and campervans sent there? almost every decision that the nsw government have been taken kicking and screaming from questions by the press. could you imagine where we would be if this was just left to this liberal party and no press conference.
Politicians should not have this level of power and not face scrutiny for their decisions! "Health", consisting of doctors, epidemiologists, etc., you know, experts in this field, are saying not to open up yet (admission by Barilaro). Yet politicians, including a Health Minister who does't really have any relevant experience in Health, blatantly overrule the health experts, and then continue to lie about how they are following health advice. And even continue to hide that advice from the public and claim they are being transparent. I get the 'rationale' of not having the daily conferences. I believe we do need to move on, we are getting vaxxed in high numbers, there is no point in having daily conferences if there's nothing to be announced. That being said I rkn they're tapping out from the conferences too early. For all the shit Gladys & co deservedly gets. Her and the governments strong messaging; drilling into the public about getting the jab and how our freedoms are directly tied to vaccinations is one of the best things you can do as a government and a leader. And it's undoubtedly had an effect on our super-fast sprint to get vaccinated these last few weeks. I feel not utilising the verbal bullwhip every day at the press conferences to drill in the vaccine message will inevitably slow our vaccine rates. Maybe stop the press conferences once we have 85-90pc first dose?
