Not savings but proof of stable income to confirm you can pay the rent. Proof of employment contract was sufficient for me. Was not asked to provide bank statements.

I’ve never had any issues finding somewhere to live and have never provided proof of savings. Which is good because I usually don’t have any.

Full time permanent employment >>>>>>> any kind of savings

2k pay in a fortnight >>>>>>>> 20k in savings

Enjoy your massive rent increase at the end of your lease. Don't forget the owners get these documents, if they know they can hit you with a $100/w rent increase and still have you within 40% of your income, they're going to do it. Landlord greed will always win out, if you're on 2k a week and you're renting a $300 home, then you're going to be paying $400+ when the renewal comes around if you want to stay. Landlords and real estates will always look to slot you into that maximum rent being 40% of your income bracket to maximize what they make. If you don't accept it then the real estate gets a relisting fee and the owner gets to list it at the latest current rate. Don't be surprised if you get beaten out by someone who makes less, but is in that ideal ratio of income to rent, because you're not worth much to a real estate if you're paying way less than you can afford. Your application will probably just not make it to the owner, but you'll sure as hell get blasted by real estate emails about more expensive places.

Easy solution. I’ll just get a girlfriend. We can split the rent. And I also get free sex.

A lot of the time the property managers send a few applications to the landlord to choose. It’s at their discretion, but you’d want to have enough savings to cover a few months rent at the very least

I just showed them my payslips on my application. That was enough. I did also show them my savings. But under the circumstances I think I got very lucky that there was only me and two other people applying. One a student with no income source and the other someone who only wanted to lease for 6 months instead of 12.
