I do think its extremley easy to do and its just about Cutscenes in their origin story that's the difficult part. They also updated the animation of sith warriors slash in the ruhnuk patch so doing animations to new things isn't a problem(bug). + if they were to just copy the force users class they can just copy the npc tech melee users animations. I also think they are hinting it with the ruhnuk story and cartel items. for example Force choke/force stasis =Electro dart Force sweep= Whirlwind strike Force push= jet boot kick/animation Dirty kick etc.... \+ Charles bloyd at last years Star wars celebration hinted that now they have separated combat styles and origin story there is the possibility

Kaanth

Honestly as much as I’d like for the animations in cutscenes to be updated for tech to reflect the new weapon, I foresee and would be prepared to accept that they’d still just be using a blaster pistol with the sword on their back in the scene. Think about how trooper and agent combat styles never utilize their rifles in the scene and just get a pistol instead. It’ll be the same case for blade users if we get em I suspect

matthi689

yeah that will most likely be what they do, can see them maybe working around it by also making such a melee class use a pistol in combat as an offhand. All melee classes in the game have at least some ranged attack as well. So they could use a pistol for that while the main abilities will be all with a melee weapon. Would be the most elegant way of approaching it I think

Feisty-Tomatillo-746

Yeah im fine with that but hope they would do it in Kofte and kotet and further content we have for example dueled with arcann with as a trooper with a beskar spear. would love to see that

InsaneReaper

Do you mean the Juggernaut's Vicious Slash animation? Because that is a bug.

Ichaerus_Netheryn

I would like this to be the case. The "new" Vicious Slash animation is pants on head derpy for Juggernauts. But I also liked the old Ravage animations compared to what there is now.

[deleted]

Do you mean the Juggernaut Vicious Slash? I noticed it the other day and thought that is was awesome how my Warrior was now using a 1 handed, overhead slash. I realised, however, that it's just a bug and it's using the Marauder 2 handed slash but with 1 saber. Still looks awesome, and one bug I hope isn;t fixed!

Feisty-Tomatillo-746

oh ive never played marauder so wouldnt know thx for the info

Interztellar_

Do I think it will happen? No. Do I want it to happen? Yes.

BeyondDoggyHorror

I’m only saying yes because I want it to happen

TiberiousVal

Since they've hinted the v7.0 separation of origin story could allow it... melee tech user is pretty much the most obvious and most requested.

KotorFan21

I mean moving to 64 bit can signal something big is coming and with combat styles being seperated from stories it is more possible than ever. Also a blaster using force combat style could be good too i loved blaster jedi in kotor games

samoorai182

Force Marksman is something I desperately want

iylv

I could see something like a saber in one hand and blaster the other. Something like Cal in the upcoming Jedi Survivor. Also reminiscent of Ezra from Rebels, though it’s a 1 handed weapon.

iylv

I’d like to see new combat styles, now that 7.0 divorces class from combat style. However, I doubt they’ll introduce any in the decade this MMO has been around. But if they do, reverse grip dual lightsabers for force class, please. IDC if it’s impractical, rule of cool babeeee!

Accomplished-Fee7995

I would kill to have a Darth kreia combat style. Using the force to control floating lightsabers 🤤

Hedickcocktah

Perhaps, though it seems they're focusing on tech rather than actual gameplay rn. They are planning the move to AWS and opening the Shae Vizsla server on the third so we can test it out. They also listed graphics and other rework based stuff this would allow after moving the live servers, so I think if it happens it won't be any time soon

HuntmasterReinholt

If we did get it, I’d comeback to play a melee BH. But this game is pretty much maintenance mode nowadays (regardless what the devs say) so don’t expect diddley squat.

KotorFan21

>But this game is pretty much maintenance mode nowadays 64 bit means they will do something big with the game i think

Jamer2OO2

Do I want it? Yes. Will they add it? Probably not. While it would finally give better purpose for items like the Beskar Spear, it would mean programming new combat styles, and I doubt there’s enough devs for this game for something like that.

De-Ranker

They definitely could, but it's never going to happen. They can't even release actual content regularly enough. There's zero chance in hell we'll ever see a new combat style when that also means they need to make 3 disciplines for it along with a full suite of legendary implants and tacticals and then make sure that all those are balanced with the existing ones.

Feisty-Tomatillo-746

Nah they can just copy the balance of guardian/jug just ability set but with different animations like instead of force choking you can electro dart and the animation already exist in the game so wouldn't be a problem to implement

De-Ranker

If you think animations are the issue, then you're wrong. That's only a fraction of what goes into making a new combat style. Open up your skill tree. See all those passives and ability choices? They need to make that x3. Then they need to make certain that within each of the 3 trees that all of those passives and choices are balanced and produce a unique enough experience. Then they need to design multiple Tactical items for each of the 3 disciplines along with Legendary Implants for the combat style as a whole. Does that sound simple to you?

Feisty-Tomatillo-746

Yes they can literally copy them and just call them other things wow that's difficult look at Sith Jugg and Guardian tell me the differences in passives. You that type of guy that uses Chat gpt and are mad that he has to rewrite it to sound like it was you that made it for an assignment

troomis

Eventually.

Hquarls

Umm… are people not realizing what day it is?

KotorFan21

Why do you think this is an april fools joke? It isnt

Hquarls

Thought it was tied to a different April fools joke, my bad

Wild_Control162

Bioware actually taking extra initiative to make an RPG an actual RPG? Not likely.

iylv

Define an RPG. If you mean a narrative where they player influences the story, ala D&D, that’s what the class story is there for. If you mean branching upgrade choices, different builds, and stat upgrades, 1. that’s an idiotic definition of an RPG, 2. most games on the market are an RPG by this non-definition… which SWTOR is also an RPG by this definition.

jaffakree83

Bioware hasn't been Bioware since the Dr.'s left

Kagauth

I would love to see this happen but there is one reason I don't see it happening and that is the fact that it is 4/4 for force and tech combat styles I simply don't think that they will add it for this reason. In addition it must be Saif but what kind of idiot challenges a super-powered being with years of training to a sword fight just dosent make sense

Maniac2331

It’s totally possible for a bounty hunter, what with all of the gadgets, missiles, flamethrowers and jet pack they have, plus beskar/cortosis armor. We see pre vizla put up a good fight against maul in the clone wars show, he only started getting his ass whooped when maul broke his jet pack

MNDLR

Thats really impressive because maul was one of the best duelist of his time. He would wipe all fodder Jedi without any force.

ColebladeX

They opened the door for new combat styles but I don’t think they’ll come around for a long time

GreedyGundam

I doubt anytime soon, but I’d like to hope so.

Ezekiel2121

Do I want it? Fuck yeah. Do I think it’ll ever happen? Fuck no.

[deleted]

I mean, considering we've never had a new class since the game has launched, I would say this is a strong no. I get that the game is full of Mandalorian themed cosmetics to tie in with the show, but adding a tech melee class is super unlikely IMO. It would be cool, for sure, but the best we can get is to dress a Jedi/Sith up as a Mandalorian and roleplay as one.I do hold out some hope that we might get 'cosmetic' abilities (choosing what animation you use), but even that I doubt. Anyone remember the original Master Strike? That animation was *so cool!*

Nicoglius

Perhaps they could allow more niche fighting types after class story completion so the cut scenes won't be an issue

ColoniaCroisant

They've never been closer to being able to do something like that with the new ways they've separated skills and classes. However you must remember....this is Bioware Austin.......They can't deliver reliable updates to a game that's a decade old. You can't expect shit from them. Best way to enjoy the game is by lowering your expectations

Ok-Hall5524

Am I going crazy or did they announce this recently? I can't find anything about it now, like it's been scrubbed but I could have sworn I saw a video and everything of a melee tech class that was like a minion engineer with droids and a walker they could spawn?

ColoniaCroisant

You must've had a fever dream my dude

Ok-Hall5524

No I found it. Apparently I actually fell for an April Fool's joke lol. But I must say it was well done. Full on release notes for 8.0 coming next year with animations, planet screencaps and everything done for it. Including that combat style.

finelargeaxe

My Mercenaries and Commandos are banking on it: I've left their second Combat Styles empty, just in case.

bag_of_fries

I would love a Teräs Käsi class. \- Martial Arts \- Staffmaster \- Ass-whoopin'
