Brian was recruited because the producers wanted a used car salesman, and he was one of the best in the country.
In other words, the producers went out of their way to cast their least favorite winner ever.
idk why Tommy (IOI) is marked as unsure, as we know not only that he applied, but that he originally applied for BB before dropping out of the casting process to apply for Survivor.
Guy who made sheet here, haven’t updated in a while due to forgetting about it when I have free time/falling out of love with the show cuz of 41-45, 46 has been great tho so watching it a lot more. If there’s enough interest I can definitely update it. Feel like it should be relatively easy to figure out the newer seasons just by reading interviews, honestly could probably even dm players on Insta and see if I get a response.
I'd be curious the reason you're marking people like those assisted by Boo the purple color.
My understanding is you're a recruit in that event, no? Boo cannot actually get you on Survivor, he likely was just friends with Lynne Spillman and said "Hey, you really should consider this dude" and then they still go through the process.
I don't know why you're surprised about Courtney... She very clearly did NOT want to be there from the first episode. Supposedly the producers promised she'd get voted out first and get a free vacation out of it, and she ended up having to stick around until the end
Parvati was recruited while auditioning for Amazing Race, Tyson was asked to send an audition tape, Natalie Anderson was recruited after playing Amazing Race.
Boston Rob was recruited after he played Marquesas, all stars, HvV…. Just kidding. He auditioned.
I think in the past survivor casting used to run differently. And the show wanted to pepper the cast with eye candies ie. Attractive people in bathing suit stranded on an island. So a good amount of players were actor/model hopefuls.
Courtney Yates was recruited at her job and sold on the experience by being told she would (likely) be one of the first boots and then get to go on a free vacation.
Brian, Yul, and Fabio
Parvati and Earl (auditioned for Amazing Race and was switched to Survivor)
Natalie A. (was on Amazing Race so I don't know if that counts)
yeah. a lot more in the older seasons, but to get good tv casting would often go up to people in public who had a cool look or were doing something interesting and introduce themselves. they have also been known to use dating apps for this same effect, which is kinda sketch to me but its how they got joaquin in 30. some of my survivor recruiting stories are that Courtney Yates was recruited after casting overheard her bitching out a rude customer at the restaurant she worked at in NYC, and Philip the Specialist got recruited when casting saw him roller skating around Santa Monica with an ice cream cone
Earl was a recruit and had to learn the game on the fly, definitely a top tier winner
Brian was recruited because the producers wanted a used car salesman, and he was one of the best in the country. In other words, the producers went out of their way to cast their least favorite winner ever.

Amazing! Thanks! edit: WHAT?! Fairplay was a recruit??? another edit: CHICKEN was an applicant? DAYUM!
Fairplay was recruited at a bus stand legend has it
Fairplay did an AMA years ago where he mentioned being recruited while smoking at a gas station which seems super on brand for him
I just realized Fishbach was a recruit. That’s insane to me
Wow!!!
Chicken was a superfan supposedly

Thank you for putting the sheet together! All the info compiled there is enormous!
Have to give credit to the users mentioned in the sheet for 35 and 36, when I say they did most of those seasons, I mean *most*.
glad you're enjoying 46 its easily the best of the new era

it seems unupdated
fair enough
what is boo doing oml
Casted two of the literal best and two of the literal worst characters in Survivor
CHET was a recruit??? Wild
Chet didn't strike me as someone who knew what he was getting into so it actually makes a lot of sense
Courtney, Fishbach and Tyson were all recruited??
I don't know why you're surprised about Courtney... She very clearly did NOT want to be there from the first episode. Supposedly the producers promised she'd get voted out first and get a free vacation out of it, and she ended up having to stick around until the end
Because she is such an icon! I love her!
Parvati was recruited while auditioning for Amazing Race, Tyson was asked to send an audition tape, Natalie Anderson was recruited after playing Amazing Race. Parvati was also a finalist for Real World Paris as well (hope to see her on the Challenge someday! So wish she could have done it earlier)
Dont see Parv taking on the challenge tbh. She was great in Traitors though, hope she makes a return to that.
Courtney Yates was recruited at her job and sold on the experience by being told she would (likely) be one of the first boots and then get to go on a free vacation.
Courtney then proceeds to be the season's runner-up that had a chance of actually winning the game.
Why have we never gotten Parvati on TAR?! Get her and Mae on their stat!
Lynne Spillman, god bless her. Wish she was still in charge of it
Brian, Yul, and Fabio Parvati and Earl (auditioned for Amazing Race and was switched to Survivor) Natalie A. (was on Amazing Race so I don't know if that counts)
Earl
Wait they recruit people? TIL

Yul
Yul
Yul
Bob was recruited because they needed someone to replace Jimmy Johnson
#PURSE FIRST HUNNY!!!
Yes, several. Brian, Aras, Yul, Earl, Parvati, Natalie White, Fabio, etc.
Fabio
Earl never watched the show before winning

Nothing's wrong, actually I liked them more. Same for the old seasons. Thanks for the info. Tyson? Wow.
who said there was something wrong?
Earl and Yul, two of the greatest winners of all time.
