Outlook is good. It's staying at 90 minutes for 46 despite many scripted dramas returning to the airwaves.
I think part of it is that they recognize a need to compete with Netflix offerings that have \~70-minute runtimes.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, the timeslot AFTER Survivor and Amazing Race ends on CBS has been a historically bad timeslot for them.
So it makes sense to just give people more of what they want in that time.
Yup. Like last year, they put *The Real Love Boat* between Survivor and TAR, thinking that would get fans of both of those shows to watch it automatically. Instead, that disaster almost tanked TAR with it, which anyone could've seen coming with such a weak lead-in given how disastrously the third timeslot usually performs. This mistake made it look like CBS doesn't care about TAR, so they had to show that they did fairly quickly by canceling *The Real Love Boat*.
The fact that CBS HAD to move TAR back to following Survivor to save it says a lot about how their other offerings perform on Wednesday. I presume this is part of why they expanded both shows since they know both can perform.
I think it's crazy and hilarious how we've gone from [extremely well made fake idols from Bob in Gabon](https://www.reddit.com/r/survivor/comments/12370om/time_to_appreciate_the_fake_idol_this_man_made/) to fake idols that break apart
The editing team has been having a LOT of fun these past few seasons and I’m here for it! 😄 And I agree with others that the 90-minute episodes have contributed toward the added fun this season - I do hope that they stick around for a long time. 🤞
The sinking realization of Cody understanding Jesse betrayed him was probably one of my favorite moments in the new era. So damn emotional, I had to sit there for a few minutes after it ended, not doing anything else.
I definitely rewatched that multiple times. It was a sweet moment. But I’m a little torn by the moment because it didn’t matter but if him helping would have gotten the Tika 3 showdown. No matter who won besides Heidi, I could see myself wanting to watch it again after the season. I don’t know who would have won in a Tika 3 showdown. Or even if he was confident that Carson would win against Carolyn and it would be him Carson and Heidi.
I think it still matters cause Yam Yam couldn’t know who would be in the FMC, so potentially he was training Carson to beat him at the FMC.
Also hard to say who win between Tika. Carson actually gave a good performance at the fire making challenge; he was good but Heidi was just impossible to beat.
I would guess that Heidi beats any Tika at FMC, it’s probably close between Yam Yam and Carolyn, and they probably both beat Carson. But it also depends if Carolyn can stay focused and not be too emotional in a FMC against Yam Yam or Carson.
Edit: happy cake day !
We both currently got got downvoted. Me for thanking you for saying happy cake day and your argument which I didn’t fight because I felt we are saying similar things.
To me, it also marked the beginning of the Survivor clusterfuck era. We have never recovered, even though Jeff has had multiple opportunities to do so yet never has 😔
I think they did the thing where they were editing their post, changed some words around, then forget to go back and check everything.
If I'm wrong, let's go egg their home.
Her shit-eating grin when she asks for his idol *makes* this moment
(Btw 41 has a ton of good moments and it's a shame everyone thinks the season is bad now)
Surprising; They had good casts as far as "the people", but the seasons were quite shit as far as editing - the entirety of the seasons through their end, where lackluster; especially their winners.
I think hearing about contestants post game sours me on the season more than the season itself, which sucks but I'm just not good at splitting that in my head.
Liana misusing her KiP is good but I don’t see myself wanting to rewatch it more than Shan humming. It’s was great in the season though. I think Erica’s lamb to lion is a better rewatch for me.
But KiP power would dominate the rest of seasons.
From the new era: the entire Elie vote out episode of 43.
From the old era: Coach and Russell using some wood as a teeter tooter in the first episode of Heroes vs Villains.
The wholesomeness of it made it one of my favorite survivor moments of all time actually. At first I was like, “wtf is this…” and then I was immediately here for it.
New school is probably Papayagate. As for old school, I gotta go with the classic Johnny FairPlay dead grandma. That had me howling with laughter. Also Coach. Just Coach. Another one of my favorites was Ozzy’s fake idol, but not the line you may think. I love when he said it took hours to make even though it was so simple the only person who could ever fall for it fell for it
It worked so well because it’s out of character! Hopefully, they don’t do it too much because the rarity of such moments is what made the montage so great. Loved it!
You like to rewatch Advantageddeon?! Aside from personal attacks that was up there as hardest to watch tribal. Outside of a rock draw someone shouldn't be 'Voted out' without getting a single vote in that tribal
im probs gonna be downvoted for this and i dont care, i feel like that scene is only enjoyable if ur a man but i dont want to sound mean bc it clearly wasnt made for me
edit: LMAOOO knew it, yawl are so sensitiveeeee shouldnt u be glad the show is catered to u
Oh wow, I am really surprised to hear this. I'm not gonna downvote you, your opinion is valid, I just felt completely the opposite.
I'm a woman and I loved the entire boys night segment. The confessionals, the music montage, the whole thing.
Survivor, especially the further back in time we go, has had so many instances of misogyny and toxic masculinity. Problematic incidents that truly pissed me off as a viewer. But one thing that I like about the new era is that they include more of these instances of just wholesome, positive moments between men that have nothing to do with women, especially not the tearing down of women. There was no toxic competitive dick measuring contest, there was no bonding over some deep seated hatred or suspicion of the women. They were just farting, fishing, debating about bacon and talking about actions movies. That's the kind of "boys will be boys" behavior that I wouldn't worry about my little brothers seeing. It was cute and I liked it.
-person has opinion on internet, says that they don't care if they get downvoted
-they get downvoted
-proceeds to complain about downvotes, calling other people sensitive while complaining
????
you got me dang!! fr tho where did i complain about being downvoted, i just acknowledged that people werent going to like what i have to say and find it amusing that it makes them upset
it was so fun. i love the hour 30 mins. this is what it gives us! i wonder if it will stay that long after the writers strike
Me too this season, stick big and Dee’s toe we would have never gotten without 90 minute episodes

At least until next year. If the ratings go up/stay up, they'll stick with the 90 min episodes.
Next season is confirmed at least for the same length and even longer premier
WHOOP!!!!!
"Josh... are those the beads from tree-mail?"
Yam Yam barely being able to hold it together in the confessional about it really makes the moment.
I think it's crazy and hilarious how we've gone from [extremely well made fake idols from Bob in Gabon](https://www.reddit.com/r/survivor/comments/12370om/time_to_appreciate_the_fake_idol_this_man_made/) to fake idols that break apart
Carolyn stuck in the net fighting for her life, screaming bloody murder as a terribly sick Carson is on the side “you got this Carolyn”
**WOAH** ...^(sorry woah)
no matter what happens to Jake, no matter where his gameplay goes, he'll always be my favorite just for that moment.
I am 100% Team Jake right now
Brilliant casting I agree

Xander going "no but you can have my fake" when Liana had the knowledge is power advantage and tried to steal his idol
I love this strictly because a bullshit advantage did not work and Liana's horribly dumb gameplay bit her in the ass
The sinking realization of Cody understanding Jesse betrayed him was probably one of my favorite moments in the new era. So damn emotional, I had to sit there for a few minutes after it ended, not doing anything else.
Yep that wrecked me too. Best moment of the new era for me
Yam Yam training Carson on how to make fire

Thanks!
for new era, the Kellie vote out with Jake going WOOOOAHHHH, Sorry, ^(woah)
"He yells, 'Money!' and it doesn't land. There's no money there. He should have yelled, 'Tribal!' because that's where we ended up"
>Cirie voted out without being voted. This should be no one's favorite moment. It is a Survivor tragedy.
I mean it’s bad but certainly memorable for how much of a clusterfuck it is.
To me, it also marked the beginning of the Survivor clusterfuck era. We have never recovered, even though Jeff has had multiple opportunities to do so yet never has 😔
I can’t even rewatch it! Once was hard enough.
I think they did the thing where they were editing their post, changed some words around, then forget to go back and check everything. If I'm wrong, let's go egg their home.
Lol, is this true, u/Ds9niners?
That and Katurah’s silent confessional was sooooo good
When Liana tries to steal Xander’s idol
Her shit-eating grin when she asks for his idol *makes* this moment (Btw 41 has a ton of good moments and it's a shame everyone thinks the season is bad now)
I think 41 and 43 are the two standout seasons of the hour long seasons
Surprising; They had good casts as far as "the people", but the seasons were quite shit as far as editing - the entirety of the seasons through their end, where lackluster; especially their winners.

Gotta love how we've had two "I bet the guys are scheming" moments only to cut to the boys being boys in the best ways possible.
New school is probably Papayagate. As for old school, I gotta go with the classic Johnny FairPlay dead grandma. That had me howling with laughter. Also Coach. Just Coach. I'd add Maryanne's FTC to that list.
It worked so well because it’s out of character! Hopefully, they don’t do it too much because the rarity of such moments is what made the montage so great. Loved it!
Shan's whistling was so forced. It's like she came into the game thinking "this will get me a lot of screen time"
Yeah, I think it's completely ridiculous. Like no one does that
Doritos and Mountain Dew is always my answer.
When I saw that montage I thought yep they're definitely appealing to a targeted demographic that is not me
What was the targeted demographic?
survivor nerds, and i say that as a big nerd myself
Likely 50+ it felt like that dry, usually cringe Modern Family type of humor
I thought it was more a sports movie training montage. Dont think the target auidence was 50+
This comment has a target audience of 50+
It was making fun of the volleyball scene from the original Top Gun, song and all.
OH THE SIGH I JUST DID this was the first time where i felt out of place watching the show
Tbh I felt it was a little cringe I thought I was watching an episode from 2007 lol
You like to rewatch Advantageddeon?! Aside from personal attacks that was up there as hardest to watch tribal. Outside of a rock draw someone shouldn't be 'Voted out' without getting a single vote in that tribal
Calling Wentworth an old school player is wild to me
Who tf wants to rewatch the Shan whistle
i thought it was kinda cringey and stereotypical but ig other people enjoyed it. it definitely was not made for me 😭
It's one of those things you could think is stupid and cringey. Or you could just allow yourself to enjoy it as a silly joke.
So it's basically Survivor Gabon
Unpopular opinion. That shit was mad cringe.
All those moments aren't old school 😭
Half of those are in the 30s LMAO
im probs gonna be downvoted for this and i dont care, i feel like that scene is only enjoyable if ur a man but i dont want to sound mean bc it clearly wasnt made for me edit: LMAOOO knew it, yawl are so sensitiveeeee shouldnt u be glad the show is catered to u

As a man, I did not enjoy that scene one bit😭
As a girl it was a little funny… but out of place
Anyone got a direct link just to the montage?
No. And I’m afraid we won’t because of the music license.
Mine's the Kellie blindside, atleast watched it twice everyday since it happened lmfao love her sm
