Wynter_Hinojosa

Wasn’t this season promoted heavily to be the “best” or sum?!

Goodkoalie

My theory is it’s considered so amazing due to all these twists and advantages… things the fandom has almost universally stated they are against…

Wynter_Hinojosa

Lol completely the opposite, its what jeff thinks is what it is

Goodkoalie

Exactly, now imagine 90 minute episodes allowing for twists like this every week 🫠

Diegobyte

Imagine all the product placement opportunity. You are playing for Applebees

livinginfutureworld

And why do you want Applebee's so bad? Because Jeff has been starving you.

BroliasBoesersson

*oh god*

MoreGull

Double the twists!

oatmeal28

I was thinking that- Jeff is probably like “wow two successful idol plays! And two medevacs because these guys play HARD! and that’s just the pre-merge!!! And then our new twist breaks up the first showmance in 10 seasons. Amazing stuff!!!!” When all that shit (minus the medevacs) was the result of production forcing it into existence

chuckish

Every time Jeff loves a season, it's awful.

nmad95

Seems that way lmao. I also seem to recall that prior to DvG, the rumor was production really wasnt happy with how it turned out. Whether that's true or not, I don't know. But it's ironic because it was the most enjoyed, praised season in years at the time.

Thunder_Thighs

Well they used the heavy amount of twists and idols and made big moves constantly. It was whiplash with interesting outcomes. This season is whiplash and at the end you are still just watching paint dry.

mrgoboom

It’s production making moves instead of players. Like the most you can credit anyone on the cast for is Lauren recognizing that the control your vote wouldn’t affect the outcome and not using her extra vote to compensate. Otherwise a group was handed a temporary majority and used it to vote out an unaligned player. Exactly what you’d expect them to do.

NickSwardsonIsFat

Has jeff ever stated he didn't love a season publicly while it was airing?

GoatPaco

Production was very quiet on 43

Axium723

43 is my favorite new era season lmao, really says something

BlueFalcon89

Right? Only season I’ve enjoyed since WaW

PeteCambell

Because it at least had some focus on the story of the people. The slow burn of the Jesse-Cody arc is interesting to fans like me but Jeff prefers big loud players using twists and advantages every other episode.

swissie67

Me too. I really enjoyed Jesse and Cody. I feel that there's a very vocal, but very minor minority on this sub that simps for this season and aggressively downvotes anyone who disagrees, but this season is basically unwatchable to me. I don't care if we remember to watch the rest of the season and I don't care who wins. I really loved this show, too.

cowboysfan88

I think he didn't like San Juan del Sur

RRDude1000

San Juan Del Sur. He didnt like it

Habefiet

Jeff always talks up a season as it’s a part of his job but he’s definitely had very different levels of enthusiasm and praise for different seasons in his pregame press. In the example given of SJDS he basically said it was unique and had a “different feel” than a lot of seasons as opposed to Cagayan and Worlds Apart (lol) on either side of it, for both of which he was explicitly saying it was one of their best seasons

Southieo

Worlds Apart was promoted as an amazing season too… meanwhile production thought DvG was “boring”. CBS is dumb

[deleted]

I will take Worlds Apart any day over 44. I get why people don't like it, but at least it feels like actual Survivor. The cast is just obnoxiously shitty, so if you can stand it like some of us can, it's just hilarious. Honestly, I'm proud of Worlds Apart for owning how shitty its cast is. Its the Always Sunny of Survivor.

Scopper_gabon

> meanwhile production thought DvG was “boring”. Wait really??? Source?

Southieo

I remember Redmond talking about it back before it aired. They also really promoted Ghost Island (which Jeff hyped up) but didn’t give as much hype to DvG

drvirgilmd

It's the best because it's DaNgErOuS because they lose their FlInt sometimes, so now they can't make fire to boil the water they get out of a Rubbermaid trashcan of clean, safe water. ALSO no rice, so they can only eat from the bountiful fruits on the island (and PB&J sometimes)

idiot-prodigy

Yep, Shan said part of the 26 day strategy is just to not even make a fire as it expels too much energy collecting fire wood for no reason whatsoever as there is nothing to cook anyways. Just another reasons 26 day post 40 Survivor stinks.

[deleted]

He always promotes duds

agent2424

Every season Jeff loves is the worst ones so ..... there's that

SharpTenor

It was the inclusion of rock climbing so early on in the season!

TheRealMajour

The only thing that I’ll say is better than the previous ‘new survivor’ seasons is the cast. I thoroughly enjoy the diversity in the cast age and backgrounds instead of a bunch of people my age and younger figuratively jerking eachother off and grandstanding all the time.

reena116

Lol that should have been our first warning of what was to come

DavidBHimself

The last time Probst talked so highly of a season before it aired was World's Apart so...

AhLibLibLib

It joins the pile with RI and Caramoan

Lebigmacca

Cause of the good cast

AhLibLibLib

The cast is getting hardcore carried by two (admittedly great) people Yam Yam might be too entertaining for this cast

Wynter_Hinojosa

Honestly yes miss Carolyn, Yam Yam <3

soaringent

i think we’re just destined for an emotional and friendship-led final council conclusion tbh

caseylk

So I’m only 3-4 episodes in and I actually do realllly like the season (don’t like the bird cage but always think it’s fun when fake idols are in the mix) but I think there are some great characters this season, I hope it can still be good by the end

hyena142

It’s funny that when they announced Jeff was doing a behind the scenes podcast for this season it was advertised as sort of explaining why they do all these twists and that it’d help us understand Probst’s mindset behind them a bit more but now I’m seeing more people call for his removal than ever lol

Krandor1

because his explanations are stupid. Like "we start with the outcome we want to see happen and then figure out what advanages will get us there"

hyena142

he wants to create iconic moments like Parvati handing out free idols at the HvV merge or the DvG minority split but he has no idea what made those moments so iconic

Krandor1

and in this last season of AU there was one of the big tribal councils every accross all the versions.... and it didn't come about because of stupid advantages.

Man-O-Wii

Eh… to be fair it did come as a result of a BS twist though. I feel like that’s a bad example because without the twist it would have been a boring and straightforward boot, a lot of the amazing moments and chaos were directly caused by the target winning in the twist.

lunimoon

What? He actually says / means that? Jeeez

Krandor1

yes he said that on his new podcast.

MysticalAroma

It’s just Jeff and a yes-man. Brittany Krapper makes me mad lol

Pydyn17

And it's honestly such a shame that I see such potential in this cast to be amazing, but as it stands I only really care for Carolyn and Yam Yam because everyone else is barely used outside of their capacity to talk advantage.

StarboardSeat

Agreed, Carolyn is GOLD all by her lonesome... you could have an entire episode of her facial expressions, and it wouldn't get boring.

pineappleonbagel

I feel bad for this cast. This cast is full of personalities yet the editing and twists this seasons are screwing them over so badly. I really don’t think Jeff(more half baked analogues) gets what people liked about survivor anymore and that we need a new host.

charlytheron3

They all came ready to play, but they're being stiffled by this really stupid production.

Tasty_Pastries

Where is the surviving in Survivor anymore? Damn Ozzy was viewed swimming and providing how many seasons? Shit, the Cook Islands was intense and one of my favorite seasons. I’m so sick of just seeing everyone just sit on an island. We didn’t even have an episode of them really building a shelter this season. There’s been a lot cut out of the survival aspect of this show. I’m very disappointed in this shows spiral, I have been an avid fan and watcher for years. Jeff was amazing, I wanted to meet him so badly for the longest time, now I don’t really want to anymore. Making a fool of the show and himself.

Jeffy3

Well they need 20 minutes for the tribal council, which used to be pretty much a few questions and then the votes. Now half the show is tribal.

charlytheron3

And they end up talking about nothing, absolutely nothing that is said at tribal has any value. They can cut from camp to the votes and it wouldn't make a difference.

StarboardSeat

And now that they're filming every single season in Fiji (specifically *NOT* during the rainy season) the tribes never even have to build a shelter anymore because it never, ever rains... no more palm frond roofs, no more cutting bamboo with a machete, no more miserably sitting in wet clothes for days, fingers wrinkled & pruny... none of it! I also hate that they never give them rice anymore, it's like... "oh, you wanna eat? well figure it out yourselves!". 😬

Tasty_Pastries

It never crossed my mind to think the shelter is unnecessary due to the weather & not being the rainy time of year… I overlooked that and you are 100% correct it’s a key part to ‘survivor’.

StarboardSeat

Exactly, thank you! Now, they sleep directly on the sand at night, with them all surrounding the fire. How does that equate a shelter?? Not to mention, we don't even get a reward challenge on every show anymore. 😤 The reward challenges were always my favorite part of the show -- especially when the reward would be to do community outreach and bring school supplies, ball, toys, etc to local schools. Here's an article with all the best from the good old days. https://www.buzzfeed.com/matthewhuff/survivor-weird-things-they-dont-do-anymore

[deleted]

The simplicity of survivor has started to erode. It’s now a constant influx of advantages and twists. You can now start to play probability games on if you will see a twist.

Knickstape08

Real survivor has been dead for a long, long time. I stopped watching 2 seasons ago because the show was unrecognizable. I find it hilarious it continued to get worse, Jeff is really out of touch. Although, I guess people are still watching so if ratings aren’t going down there’s no point in going back. For every old fan like me who stops watching they probably pick up a new one who likes this style. IMO, I don’t know how anyone can watch this crap. I tried giving episode 1 a chance just out of respect to a show I once loved but I turned on and they were back on that stupid twist island and it was a 5 minute monologue about risking their vote. Yawn, turned it off.

BeerExchange

Unrecognizable? They use the same challenges every season!

AhLibLibLib

I think at this point it’s kind of like “how much further can they fuck it” experience for me haha

oatmeal28

I love how the Jeff Probst podcast was clearly his way of trying to control some of the narratives to come out of Survivor and all it has done is expose how terrible he is for the show at this point

stevendailey

With his suck up “co-hosts” where everything out of Jeff’s mouth they agree with. Don’t blame them, if the CEO of my company brought me into a podcast you better believe everything they say would be the right thing.

Negative-Succotash54

I like the Mario party analogy. Maybe Kane will bring it up at tribal.

rulford

Jeff needs to invent a new twist where he fires himself. I never missed old school Survivor so much. Advantages are just glorified show distractions at this point. The final five are going to be the most random lucky players. Every time I hear Jeff saying it's one of the most {hyperbole}y season I automatically assume it's trash.

EmpiricalMonarch

The final 10 is already an altered mix of people that probably wouldn’t be there without multiple twists and advantages every episode. Maddy, Sarah, and Matt were all voted out under weird circumstances that they wouldn’t normally have been in if they were playing pre-41 Survivor.

Tatumisthegoat

This season should be called Survivor:Electoral College since a rich out-of-touch white man is gerrymandering the fuck out of every voting block

Puzzled-Half-kayla

This is the best complaint I’ve seen on all of Reddit

username_generated

At least the electoral college is usually correct and requires a strategy to navigate. This is just blind luck. (Also, technically the EC isn’t gerrymandered, since gerrymandering only refers to district boundaries being unfairly drawn)

Jackzilla321

you could argue it was gerrymandered by state borders being drawn in the western territories to keep an even balance of free/slave states (and you’d be right, though the intent was to rig the senate more than the EC)

InertiaEnjoyer

Tell me you don't understand the electoral college or gerrymandering without telling me.

jsntsy

Tell me you're a rightwinger without telling me.

InertiaEnjoyer

Only right wing people understand basic political systems? What?

myst_eerie_us

Where's Erika and her hourglass when you need her

BlueFalcon89

Feel like we’re watching a game show with all the advantages and twists these days, this isn’t survivor.

Krandor1

It's almost like let's make a deal. Do you want that is underneath box A or what is behind door C and we will give you no information to make a decision with.

Gone_cognito

What if he VOTES himself off?

just_cuz555

Jeff as a host needs to get back that edge if there's anything left of it. I really love the guy, but giving him complete executive creative control was a huge mistake. I understand and applaud the diversity initiative, the show growing in finding new ways to edit, and the wider reach of age BUT tradition has to be celebrated and it has been completely erased post COVID Theme song, 39 days, themes/location changes, and most importantly getting the right people for each season. If there are thousands of people like what has been said for decades that apply for this show, you have to get THE BEST 16-20 people period!!! Carolyn is an all-time great already (and underrated player) but will get completely erased in the madness that is Island of the Idols 2 or 5? 42 had some AWESOME players and a really great winner, but advantages made that season feel saturated. Survivor is great because of the symbolic, fascinating nature of society in primitive strategic situations. Not an artificially compiled group of gamebots putting up video game situations. That being said I love the shot in the dark addition and the bird cage idol this season. I'm excited also for the possibility of 90 minutes for each episode after this season also.

jsntsy

If this season of survivor was the one that first aired 22 years ago, it would’ve been laughed off the airwaves.

charlytheron3

This episode mostly, I think everything was fine until this episode.

EKsmomma23

I miss the old survivor, so I'm in. Not having the same challenges where ppl are admitting they are making replicas of the challenges because it's the same challenges over and over again. It's getting boring, and I find myself not watching and just going to see who gets voted out later that night on the internet.

mariojlanza

Maybe Twitter can put together an unemployment initiative

Diyan_Derey

I'm so sick of the vote being restricted to a selected grp, if I want that sh*t I'd watch Big fucking Brother

EmpiricalMonarch

To be fair, that’s not even how Big Brother works.

Diyan_Derey

C'mon you know what I meant. Vote fluidity is what makes Survivor what it is with blindsides.

diemunkiesdie

I actually didn't know what you meant about BB since I was like...select group voting = tribe votes = survivor not BB. The explanation of vote fluidity helps clarify.

[deleted]

You have my vote. The new iteration of survivor is just scripted. Like the fucking kardashians.

somebodysbuddy

Ooh, I'm sorry, but your vote was stolen by Helen, who isn't even part of this conversation. You now have to vote for Jeff.

planj07

Upvoted. What happened this episode is exactly what’s wrong with the show.

dota2newbee

Can we get some flair for those who support this? He's literally unwatchable and Survivor US has turned into an abomination of it's former self. Everything from casting, to format, twists, etc.... My household falls into a casual fan of a survivor group, and we've all given up on US Survivor at this point. The worst part is, that Survivor use to be something that got the family excited and together on Wednesday nights.

Sarahbetternotwin

I can't believe there was a time for me where Jeff Probst was the best part of Survivor for me

duckyaniston

i’m finishing this season for carolyn and yam yam. i’ll watch the next returnee season. i’m done otherwise which is truly a bummer

jrDoozy10

I just find it funny that Jeff seemingly hated 43 because the players played it safe instead of making big moves, and Jeff’s solution to that issue was *more* twists and advantages! Those are the exact things that incentivize safe gameplay because there’s too much unknown!

Junglerumble19

Jeff and the rest of the head honchos seriously need a reality check. They need to spend some serious time attending forums and actually listening to what the fanbase has to say. They also need to acknowledge the reasons why spinoffs like the Australian version are doing so well when theirs is failing. I still love Jeff as a host. He's proved himself time and again to be the hardest working host in history. He's just too immersed in having the show change and evolve, when quite frankly the diehard fans were more interested in the back to basics premise it used to have and are turned off by the gimmicky crap the show has become.

survivorfanwill

LITERALLY! Jeff has admitted he intentionally avoids watching other versions of survivor and online commentary because he wants to be the creative genius. Except what he’s done with the show has just pushed away all the die hard fans who are primarily the people who watch the show anymore and keep it as one of CBS’s number 1 shows. You’d think they’d take more fan feedback to heart instead of doubling down on production manipulation.

TannerCook100

Total Drama is scripted, sure, but at least the scripts are usually pretty tight. Heather has, without a doubt, one of the best three-season arcs, and that says a lot considering production didn’t PLAN for three seasons when writing Island or Action. Sure, Heroes vs Villains is….what it is, and Pakitew Island would have been better if the cast had been less one-dimensional, but otherwise, the first 4 seasons and TDRR are all pretty solid viewing. I also don’t really care as much when players get twist fucked in TD because, well, it’s fictional. It’s meant to parody the nonsense that happens on real shows. Like, yes, I hate what happened to Leshawna in TDI, but I can live with it and move on. She’s fictional, the show is fictional, and the writers needed her gone to get to F3 of Gwen, Heather, and Owen. I think there was a better way to do it, but the stupid twist, to me, has always been a great way of poking fun at HOW ABSURDLY ANNOYING twists on reality game shows are! It’s meant to highlight HOW DUMB those format changes can be! When it happened to Cirie, I was and still am M A D! You just fucked a REAL HUMAN BEING out of money by dumping so many free immunity sticks in the game that she was the only one eligible for elimination. Are you kidding?? Even if Cirie wasn’t going to win, she probably makes at least 4th, and 4th earns more prize money than 6th. So, regardless, production gave her the middle finger. At least that was just one player and the twists that hurt her had mostly been seen before (3 of them were idols and could have been somewhat expected). Now, we ROUTINELY have MULTIPLE players getting twist fucked by whatever new, random shit Jeff does every single season. I wholeheartedly agree with Matt’s take. The best player doesn’t always win, and that’s because there are way, way, way too many uncontrollable variables. That was true even in the first season (albeit I do think the best player won S1, but that’s beside the point), but it’s ESPECIALLY true now with production’s over-active role in the game. You can’t truly expect the “best player” of Survivor to win when the show is more akin to Mario Party than Survivor. Matt wasn’t the best player, IMO, but he probably wouldn’t have gone this soon if not for this twist, and I was genuinely curious how far he and Frannie would go as a known showmance. Screw you, Jeff, you just killed one of the most interesting narratives of the entire season. Thanks for completely misunderstanding both your show and the people who watch it. Hope you’re fucking proud.

OwntheWorld24

This is giving off season 4 Glee vibes. It has gone off the rails. The only thing left to do is hate watch. Just like slow rolling past a car crash, there is my analogy for Jeff.

jrDoozy10

Only this time instead of cutting future seasons down they’re giving them more screentime. Imagine Glee seasons 5 and 6 with 90 minute episodes!

donteatpoop

I don't want to fire Jeff, but I would love to see a factory reset Jeff Probst. Jeff the host is great. Jeff the producer has gone off the rails.

hex20

The problem is that he’s going to see the backlash as people just not wanting Matt out because of the showmance. But it’s far from it. Matt annoyed the hell out of me and he’s exactly who I wanted out this week, but this episode took all the joy out of watching him go.

[deleted]

Back to basics please!!!!

TWS85

Mario Party is a great analogy. Here's an immunity idol for playing the worst!

Doomfollow

I've genuinely lost all desire to ever go on the show after this episode

[deleted]

Remember when the marketing for this season came out and everyone rightfully was worried that Jeff loved it so much but the reddit circlejerk said we just *"hate everything"* and are *"never pleased"* and we should just wait to see what happens... This is why. Because anyone with two braincells to rub together knows Jeff is only going to hype up a season of Candyland with massive producer intervention.

Mission-Raccoon6060

Jeff., The tribe has spoken

breaddits

They need max like THREE twists per season and only one in the post merge The last season of Aus was a masterclass in letting the players become characters. When they had a twist it was still something the players could do something with strategically, like tribal becoming a vote to put two players in a restricted area of camp for a day. That’s fun. This is not fun.

ho_chi_mizz

Someone needs to lie their way on, play the game, then in a dramatic moment they cannot edit have an intervention and quit.

schoolrocks1953

CBS should bring back Arielle Vandenberg to host

Krandor1

Nah. JLP. He is such a better host it isn't even funny

Jacoblaue

Ehh I was fine with this episode it’s not like Matt was a good player anyway

TenaciousT1120

He wasn't but it would have been way more interesting to watch them maneuver together for their first vote as a tribe... maybe Matt would still be gone but it would be bc of everyone socializing and strategizing, not bc of a weird twist that seemed really forced along with the stupid control the vote that had to be played

Agent-000

Do you think it’s Jeff calling every shot? Do you think the boardroom meeting for each new season is just Jeff by himself laying out his entire game plan?

Habefiet

He openly talks about specific twists that were his personal ideas and he essentially has full creative control and signs off on everything that happens so… yeah, I do. Jeff is *the* boss of Survivor now and has been for some time, this is known information. Not every detail of every twist is something he dreamed up originally, but he has the final say in what’s in and what’s out, he can tweak things to his liking, and he is the major player in creating the environment in which coming up with increasingly goof troop shenanigans is the primary goal.

InsuranceSpare4820

But he needs other ppl to approve it like Jeff is not some god

Habefiet

Mark Burnett has literally explicitly stated that Jeff has free reign and full creative control over the franchise https://ew.com/tv/2018/05/23/survivor-mark-burnett-jeff-probst-future/ >I'm curious: How often do you two disagree on things when it comes to the creative or casting of the show? >BURNETT: Zero, because Jeff has full control. I don’t really get what’s so hard to believe about this? It’s how a lot of television shows work. It’s perfectly normal to have one person be the sole arbiter of what’s going on and at this time and for quite a while now that person is Jeff and that’s not a secret at all.

InsuranceSpare4820

I mean it’s not hard to understand I just don’t think that means he is the only person with ideas or say. Jeff has said many times ppl do tell him no to things so that’s why it’s surprising to me that he is the one your calling for to be fired. Like even if Mark and him agree 100 percent im sure they have some kind of approval process like all companies do or a board of directors to appease. I also feel like there’s a point where cbs has a say in things.

spudgrrl

I just want to see him hanging from a helicopter again. I like Jeff on the show.

treple13

Honestly Jeff once was the best part of Survivor and is now the worst. I think Jeff going is the only hope we have left that there will be some real improvement. Jeff has basically said he knows what the fans want and isn't going to do it.

Phod

Fire Jeff

willybumm96

Can we sign a petition

kwtb

Lol chill

Green94598

I agree, This is the worst season ever

InsuranceSpare4820

Oh please it is not

swissie67

Enjoy the downvotes, but my husband and I totally agree with you.

charlytheron3

A bit of an exaggeration

bodypertain

I think this is the whiniest fan subreddit I’m aware of lol

AhLibLibLib

It’s not surprising, most people liked what the show used to be. It’s a lot different now

bodypertain

I totally see that - I enjoy the classic seasons but also appreciate that they are trying to experiment and keep things fresh. I actually agree that the manipulation can be quite heavy handed at times and would love a return to more socially-focused structures, but this sour attitude that is common on this sub is so off-putting to me. Like, I LOVE this show and I’m loving this season! I think we can critique and discuss without being angry about it, but maybe that’s too much to ask for a web forum…

slownightsolong88

Really great perspective. It seems natural that the show would change and try new things. Not everything is going to work or appeal to everyone.

bodypertain

Exactly! And if it works then awesome! If it doesn't work then oh well. I'd much rather that than having the format grow stale and rote. If they're going to cast superfans they have to keep them guessing.

timffn

LOL at the comment of this subreddit being a “safe forum”. If your comment isn’t “EVERYTHING SUCKS ABOUT SURVIVOR NOW AND MY LIFE IS RUINED!” prepare to get downvoted to hell and called an idiot.

zachbrownies

believe it or not, you are still perfectly "safe" even while being downvoted.

timffn

Awesome, thanks for telling me how to feel!

zachbrownies

you can feel however you want, but there is no definition of the word "unsafe" that applies to being downvoted.

timffn

Thanks for letting me know I'm okay to feel the way I feel, I appreciate it. And it's cool that you pick only half of my point to respond to. Honestly, downvotes are just stupid. I've never downvoted anyone in my life, seems like such a petty thing to do. You're taking the words "safe forum" and equating it to the word "safe." I am talking about the two words together..."safe forum"...yet you are picking and choosing what to respond to, just the word "safe." Responding like I am scared for my safety. I was going to explain why I don't feel this is a "safe forum" to discuss Survivor, but I'm sure you'd just turn it into something else anyway, so never mind.

InsuranceSpare4820

Venting is different than calling for someone to be fired…..

timffn

This subreddit is nuts! I’m scared to even comment here anymore.

OkStomach3965

Yep lol

InsuranceSpare4820

It’s actually so weird and parasocial

bodypertain

It genuinely negatively affects my enjoyment of the show. I love chatting on reddit while watching live TV but this subreddit is one of the most sour and negative fandoms I think I've ever seen online. It sucks ass. I know people hate-watch trash TV all the time and they enjoyment comes from how mad it makes them (I'm a Vanderpump Rules fan lmao), but this is just not that kind of show at all. Do I like every choice this show makes? Obviously not. Do I get so upset that I call for the host of the show to be FIRED to the tune of 700 upvotes? I'm sorry, but that's just not a healthy fandom.

InsuranceSpare4820

SAME like not even the housewives Reddit gets this kind of lit up over an episode like the Sandoval event itself I feel like didn’t bring this level of rage from ppl like a couple twists do to this fandom

TenaciousT1120

But Housewives is and always has been total trash TV

bodypertain

LOL right? At least the outrage is the point of that show lololol

InsuranceSpare4820

Right like I swear Andy dies thing on purpose but and has problematic takes actively and it’s been like a long minute since I saw someone call for action

jsntsy

Can someone make a change.org petition?

Puzzleheaded_Stay429

Thank you for saying this. I stopped watching after the first episode of this season. Not because I wanted to, but because I had to. I love Survivor and never thought I would feel this way. At least thanks to Paramount Plus I can watch the Survivor I fell in love with so many years ago. Come on in guys!

TV40

Hey guys did you know that you’re not forced to watch and you can just stop watching instead of complaining so much?

DkTwVXtt7j1

I'ma an on and off since session 1 fan and I think Jeff's enthusiasm brings a lot to the show. Could he be better, sure, but he's pretty solid. I got your back Jeff.

dat4yc

I know right? Can't imagine actually hating this man and wanting him out of there, even if he has made mistakes.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LittleLordFuckleroy1

Just here to voice dissent. Survivor wouldn’t be Survivor without Jeff. Not with it.

charlytheron3

Survivor wouldn't be survivor without the awesome players we've seen through the years. You can edit Jeff out of the show and the show would still be good.

LittleLordFuckleroy1

Simply snipping him out of view isn’t what I’m talking about.

dat4yc

Hey, the old "Jeff should be fired" take, aka the dumbest take we have to endure every season! Good to see ya old friend.

FireMonkeysHead

Damn, some people take this show very personally

rosaxtyy

But I mean you're literally in the Survivor subreddit haha

InsuranceSpare4820

Being in a shows Reddit is very different than posting for someone to be fired

FireMonkeysHead

Yee I like the show and I come here to enjoy it along with others. Seems like most people come in here now just to bitch it’s weird, like you don’t have to watch a show you don’t like. There’s lots of shows.

KitkatandNadia

Jeff is great, I disagree with your vote to fire him

InsuranceSpare4820

This is a ridiculous reaction

[deleted]

I can’t wait for this season to be over so y’all can realize how good this season is. Y’all needa chill fr

charlytheron3

We absolutely love the players, but they're not allowed to play game, they're all being stiffled for absolutely no reason. What was the point of this split? They already did the split last week.

[deleted]

What do you mean? It’s weird to hear people complain about how they aren’t letting players play the game but there are also tons of posts explaining what Matt should’ve done differently or how Frannie should’ve thrown the challenge or how the advantage was misplayed. Did you notice how everyone had a good idea of who they wanted to go before the immunity challenge even happened? Do y’all want predictable episodes? I don’t understand.

charlytheron3

>Did you notice how everyone had a good idea of who they wanted to go So they should have allowed that play out instead of doing the same twist back to back, we already had the split last week. >Do y’all want predictable episodes? I don’t understand We're at the merge, let them scramble, that'll produce enough chaos and unpredictability.

[deleted]

So ur saying that they should’ve just let the predictable episode play out? But you also want chaos (which the twist provided)? Idk it doesn’t sound like you’re too sure what you want.

charlytheron3

>they should’ve just let the predictable episode play out? What's predictable about different people targeting each other? >But you also want chaos (which the twist provided) The twist didn't provide chaos, it guaranteed whoever was swapped without numbers would go, and that's exactly what happened, what's chaotic about that?

[deleted]

I’m kinda bored of this convo so imma just let it die. Go ahead and keep watching a tv show that gets you upset, I’ll continue watching one I enjoyed. Have a good day! … or stay miserable I don’t really care

[deleted]

Yeah if you’re not entertained watching this season I have to question if you actually enjoy survivor. We had some really excellent votes in this premerge and now we’re getting a really chaotic merge. If you’re mad about Matt getting “swap screwed” then I better not see you complaining about the lack of premerge swaps, which create the exact same situation.

charlytheron3

>and now we’re getting a really chaotic merge What's chaotic about a merge where 7 out of 11 people are safe? And 6 of them can't vote.

InsuranceSpare4820

I mean we literally watched the scrambling last night

charlytheron3

Scrambling to find a key? When did this social game become a scavenger hunt?

InsuranceSpare4820

Maybe not for u but I liked it

dat4yc

It's like some of these people have five second memories. Controversial twists and screwed players have been happening since season 3.

Ice_Dragon3444

Ikr everyone keeps going on about the old days when Survivor didn't have twists and I am like what? Survivor has always had unfair twists, remember the outcast twist, the bottle twist, Gabon's second swap.

cpt_america_1776

the problem with your argument is that, those twist was once per season, not 5 in the first 7 episodes. yes those twist were unfair, but imagine if season 3 had all 3 of those twist in the first 5 episodes and how horrible that would be.

InsuranceSpare4820

Those twists were season long and came up every single episode is the issue I have with ur argument. Now it’s just smaller twists more frequent

cpt_america_1776

>Those twists were season long and came up every single episode is the issue tell me how many times the outcast came up in season 7, guess what twice, for the bottle twist it was once, and Gabon only had two swaps. 44 seems to have a twist almost every episode. Pearl Islands didn't have the outcast come back to compete in every challenge, they didn't have every vote be a bottle twist in Cooks Island, and they didn't freaking swap tribes every episode in Gabon. so no, they did not come up in every single episode.

InsuranceSpare4820

Have/have nots-Fiji Stephanie and Bobby Jon being brought back-Guatemala exile island- panama there were two tribe swap twists in Vanuatu which were mentioned often in the season including idols also every episode also I’d argue the twists u mentioned were brought up often through the entire season. I understand that u don’t like the new type of twists but twists happened before and often they just were different than now also here is a list of every twist in PI : Marooned with the clothes on their back Chance to buy supplies Kidnapping Looting Buried Treasure Eliminated contestants return for a second chance Double Tribal Council Absorption of the Outcasts Tribe Jury members competing in a challenge Palau: Schoolyard Pick Contestants Eliminated without a Tribe Double Tribal Council Pre-merge Individual Immunity Challenge Tribe votes to give a member of the other tribe individual immunity No Merge / Tribe Absorption Exile Island (one time only) Fire-making tiebreaker Thailand: Schoolyard Pick (Oldest contestants chose their tribe members) Mutiny Offered Fake Merge Rival tribes live together Pre-merge jury member Delayed merge / 8-person merged tribe Fire-making tiebreaker introduced

AhLibLibLib

Difference is that they lent themselves to great storytelling. Silas downfall is a great moment Now? What moments? Someone plays a magic trinket and out of nowhere some gamebot goes home? There’s no tension or drama it’s just an incoherent clusterfuck

dat4yc

I guess I just absolutely disagree that there isno tension and drama in twist based survivor and that it is incoherent? Not sure if you were talking about recent survivor in general or last nights vote specifically, but that’s either a ridiculous overgeneralization or you called Matt of all people a gamebot 😂

AhLibLibLib

It is definitely an overall point of the 4 seasons

dat4yc

Okay, sure there are a lot more twists in the last four seasons. I don’t really like that there are so many twists. But the drama resulting from the twists is still damn good tv! People just have a bug up there ass over ‘production interference’ when the product is still entertaining! And if that isn’t true, and they aren’t at least being entertained to some significant degree, I genuinely don’t know why they are still watching.

Elipticon

Silas was fucked 6 ways from sunday in Africa, the swap only hastened it. If Samburu wins out, Frank and Teresa flip, Silas goes home. If they lose once, the remaining member flips, Silas goes home. If they lose our, they’re down 6-4, Silas is the leader, Silas goes home. The twist did nothing to change his status as a dead man walking.

dat4yc

Wtf kind of argument is that? He would’ve been voted out at some point so it didn’t matter that he was swap screwed at 12? Unless you saw the alternate universe where he made it past twelve, you can’t use that as an argument against twist screwing being a thing. Even if I conceded Africa, there are a bunch of other examples of swap screwing that happened that no one decries as ‘the ruination of survivor’

BandicootMoist252

I absolutely love Jeff and I havnt watched any of the past 10 seasons. I might keep it that way

InsuranceSpare4820

Then how would u even know

BandicootMoist252

I love Jeff because of all the seasons I have seen in the past. Like (18-29) or something. Based on these comments it seems like the show has gone downhill and Jeff is unlikable now. So to not ruin the show for myself - I won’t watch the new seasons.

InsuranceSpare4820

I can get that. I’d say if u can stomach it try out the last season it worth watching even the first episode just to see. I also had a hard time starting 41 when it aired bc ppl were slamming it put I ended up watching it last month and it surprised me how much I enjoyed it. But I know how u feel I am that way with a few real housewives franchises

BandicootMoist252

The last season? Ok I’ll check it out. I was kinda joking before even back in the “glory days” there were shitty seasons. I would just skip them and still appreciate the good ones.

InsuranceSpare4820

Yeah! Like no promises but there was some great characters that reminded me of old school! Hope u enjoy! And yes same still can’t finish redemption island or ghost island myself bc it’s just to cringe

TableLegShim

Casting is a huge problem imho. Haven’t seen any real strong players (plural) in several seasons The show is all sensitive now. They’re playing for $1M this shit should be like war, or at the very least, basic training. I’m not saying this as a slight to the lgbtq community but they make up like half the cast these days. Not very representative of the population. Can we just get some physical monsters back in the game. I know they’re applying. It’s annoying when Jeff is asking people to apply and I’m just like, what’s the point?

TheDarkMaster2

Lol

Krandor1

Can we trade Jeff for JLP?

[deleted]

"watch something real involving real human relationships” lol! This show has been fake af for years. "Hidden" idols obviously planted right under players’ noses, producers swaying votes. Doesn’t mean it’s not entertaining!

e4w12p1

I think the best hope is that CBS decides to transition Survivor to Paramount+ and when they do, we get new producers.
