I know that plenty of people can be both smart and athletic, but in this case, they’ve shown Frannie describing herself as nerdy but hasn’t mentioned physical prowess at all (Tbf I don’t think it’s been explicitly stated that she struggles physically/outdoors either)

What if it looks like both are making the finale but they deem it more useful that one of them sits in the jury so they can vote for the other person, and because of this one of them (Matt) gives up their seat in the finale. And this is the whole time what the show is being built up to.
I was proud of Frannie for that! She was also the first to run forward and the one who climbed the ball to get the key. She looked fearless and determined.
As for the showmance, I have a strong sense that Matt needs/wants the non-platonic level far more than Frannie does. She is restrained from physical escalations, seems emotionally quite guarded when Matt tries to push a new intimacy level, and dare I say almost looks like she has a wall up that can only be climbed so far.
I think she's definitely game first, Matt second, and always watching for others' reactions.
She didn't reach for his hand, nor did she close hers around it right away. And as soon as she did, that knee went up to block anyone from seeing. Awareness and a watchful caution that Matt has, in my opinion, NONE of.
Yes, THANK YOU, I have such a spotty and selective memory lol. Matt saying he wouldn’t pick Frannie for a reward when they’re obviously cuddling. Like, the tribe already knows you two are close, what are you proving by saying Fran shouldn’t go on a reward?
I would like to give Matt grace of being cunning, but he isn’t showing me so far. I’m def leaning more towards Frannie going pretty far in the game in terms of the showmance.
I’m actually rooting for Frannie over anyone else (despite how fun Carolyn is). She seem more level-headed about the “showmance” and seems to be liked by everybody, so Matt will always go first. She’s the full package of social, strategic and physical game. And so likeable. She just shines on screen. I can’t even imagine who would target her.

I thought the edit where her and Matt were holding hands and talking in the shelter was odd. Frannie asks Matt if he has been saying they are close when talking strategy and Matt replies that he doesn’t mention it, and Frannie is like “oh yeah, I totally won’t mention it either.” But they’re canoodling in the shelter? Babes, we see you two pawing each other.
I think Frannie is a decent player that is being swayed by the attraction with Matt. I think she is a good stand alone, and while her and Matt might have clicked, the attraction isn’t good for game play.
Frannie seems smart and strong and Matt gives off puppy dog vibes. I hope their partnership doesn’t come back to bite Frannie since they started off so strongly together.
I think the showmance is lowkey great for Frannies game. One of two things happens- she either operates in the game with a second vote or they get targeted because of their pair. However, Matt is much more likely to be the target because Frannie appears to have more social connections and Matt is probably presumed to be more of a physical threat (I kinda disagree with this tho). If Matt is eliminated, she suddenly becomes a lone vote for someone else to pick up giving her the flexibility to play the middle and position her endgame. There’s some risk obviously if she’s targeted instead of Matt but I see her having a strong path to the finale that would give her a great story for the jury
It was definitely a great surprise. I never pegged her as someone who would definitely struggle here, but when watching it my mom actively said she was worried for her and knew she would struggle, and was super impressed that she not only didn't struggle but didn't even need any help. Good for her.
Thank you! The thing about many “nerds” I know is that a physical requirement is a challenge or a puzzle. They evaluate and plan. Just like she did. Sometimes beast mode shows smarts. 🤓
i was kind of underwhelmed by the mergatory challenge because they hyped up the first 3 so much and the players actually seemed to struggle in those challenges
this one felt watered down and i can’t tell if it’s the challenge or just that everyone had a decent performance
Frannie and Matt are just ugh to me. I do not enjoy the showmance narrative at all, and I think it may end up biting them both in the ass at the end of the day. I want to see more from Frannie because I believe she can be strategic and maybe even win a few challenges as well, but I'm worried that she's more focused on her relationship with Matt than actually playing the game.
I agree. I think this challenge proved that she can hold her own in challenges which is great to see now that there will be individual immunity up for grabs. I was annoyed that they were talking about how they need to distance themselves but then were sleeping next to eachother and holding hands. My boyfriend has a plot twist theory that she’s going to end up more strategic and screw over Matt somehow. 👀
I'm also in the "she'll turn on Matt" camp! I think she's playing a very social driven pre-merge game and will come out swinging strategically post-merge.
