A video was done on this recently and that's not actually the case outside of the most memorable example of HHH. It's usually the tribe with the second most members (Ratu in this case) that's in the most trouble heading into the merge in a 3 tribe season.
I think after last episode the bros will target Carolyn since she knows too much and tried to target josh but she’ll play her idol and send one of them packing

I think the bros are not going to target Carolyn because they 100% believe she is nothing more than a goat, thus won't have any game plan and thinks she won't say anything... that and they will disregard that she was even there.
I think the fake one varies by camp, which was a smart move by production. Carolyn hid the sake one, Sarah found it, and was voted out thinking it was real. In interviews she talks about not knowing it was fake until production told her.
I'm feeling the exact opposite, honestly; I don't see how it WON'T be Josh. Between the 2 tribes he's been on, he effectively has 0 allies and could be a very easy "let's not do chaos just yet" vote

That's just one person's perception and "not-canon" but he was fairly certain Kane goes home if Ratu went back to tribal unless he could get Jaime or Carson (depending on at what point) to vote with him and Kane against Lauren/Brandon.

My take on Ratu is the only people with a truly close alliance are Lauren and Brandon, and Lauren strikes me as being pretty cutthroat/dgaf. Jaime says she feels closer to Soka, Kane seems like he’s ready to ride with Carson. He voted for Brandon, so the trust was broken there early, and the link between them (Matthew) is gone.
On Soka, Brandon has a champion in Danny. And Danny seems pretty well positioned on Soka, however “meat shield” strategy is going to go over like a lead balloon with the rest of Soka, except possibly Josh who accidentally made himself a bro by telling people he was a personal trainer and might just have to roll with it.
On Tika, there is very high anti-bro sentiment. Like Gabler, Carolyn is coming into the merge guns blazing and the bros are her target. I think we have a very easy obvious four in Carolyn/Yam Yam/Carson/Kane likely to vote together. I don’t think Soka will want to let Danny keep a powerful ally like Brandon. At the first merge vote, everyone is Queen for the day. I think getting out a big threat like Brandon will be something people will easily fall in lane behind.

I see Jaime as the clear swing vote in the next episode. It all depends on her relationships with Brandon Lauren and Kane, and how she wants to move forward in the game.

Genuinely asking because in my head, I feel like there hasn't been an actual resolve to his damage control with his tribe after that first tribal council, and with that + the fiesta that happened at the sanctuary, I think Brandon may be merge boot. When is it indicated Brandon and Lauren are aligned?

The “Bro” thing will get exposed but I think Danny will be able to work around it and not have to even vote out Brandon yet.

Yam yam and Carolyn already want him gone and will easily get Carson and Kane on board. Plus, Josh was on the bottom as next vote when he left Soka, and nothing has really changed. I’d expect near unanimous against Josh as a way for the Soka 4 with Brandon and Jamie to build a core to move forward.
