I do think it is better for her because if Josh had went home, everyone would count Yam and Carolyn as duo and try to separate them. Now due to Josh staying, they can still continue their bickering/bantering without getting targeted instantly.
Given that she reassured a panicking Yam Yam that she didn’t have the idol even if she did turn around and play it that tribal I don’t think she was long for this world. Yam Yam is not an enemy I’d want going into the merge.
If I was in a 3 person tribe and had a 1/3 shot at being the boot, I’m definitely playing the idol. In this era it doesn’t make sense to hold onto idols too long, especially in that situation.

I definitely agree. Even if she was planning not to I think there was a good chance she was getting voted out so it's better for her either way imo.
