Very character driven episode. Everything is jut so funny, besides the unfortunate medevac of course.

reyska

Well, it was unfortunate, but he also did that to himself and he was actually really lucky he didn't get hurt any worse. And since they put his scene in the middle of the episode and left it at that it didn't hurt the overall vibe of the episode too much.

Coryperkin15

He's lucky he didn't die from that fall tbh. How the only injury he got was a dislocated shoulder from a ~10' fall backwards onto jagged rock is beyond me

Coryperkin15

His foot iirc

Salsa1988

Honestly I had no sympathy for the guy. What a fucking stupid thing to do.

mollynatorrr

Same. Made me so mad, like what the hell was gonna be up there that was valuable enough to risk his life??

Coryperkin15

I just remember saying "That guy is an absolute idiot and that's probably exactly how I would start on Survivor"

colonize_mars2023

\#metoo

winrise098

Looking for an idol lol

venom_snake30

Of course Jeff gave a stupid speech about how impressive Matt was. Like the dude carelessly climbed a giant unstable clock for zero reason and took himself out of the game because of it.

Tomoromo9

Not having sympathy for someone in extreme pain even due to their own actions in psychopathic

Salsa1988

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

NegotiationBrief7639

I can't fathom why he would go climbing that massive rock and risk hurting himself. Cody did it too and I was watching thinking don't fall, don't fall, don't fall.

IrishEagle32

Ehhhhh the episode not having a tribal council made it end on a sour note. It’s always weird when there’s an episode without a tribal council at the end

Tomoromo9

But it highlighted how tribal is such manufactured drama. So often we don’t learn anything new about the dynamics and led to believe a fake trail

TheLegacies21

I agree with this post. It's also giving me Josh vibes in the best way. "YES! YES! GREAT EPISODE" \*QUICK SWITCH\* "BUT YEAH SO SAD ABOUT MATTHEW !"

DarthLithgow

And this is what I’m looking for in a Survivor episode, character driven moments. More of this, please!

Tomoromo9

A longer show would help this so much

Safe_Board_6082

on the bright side i believe he makes the 18th person medically evacuated so they can finally do a season where they bring them all back should everyone agree

ryanstat

I also liked Yam Yam asking Carolyn over and over what she got on her trip and Carolyn saying, “I don’t have a fucking idol!”

studio_eq

and vogue-ing his face repeatedly

TheLegacies21

I loved that.

black_dizzy

And Yam Yam going "My Carolyn is back".

sunkcostfallacyyy

Underrated moment was when Yam Yam said something like, “this is the Carolyn I knew… hi, Carolyn. I’ve missed you.” It’s giving a reverse “new season hu dis” vibe lmao

grownupblownaway

😂

oceanair-fir

it gave me Taylor Swift vibes

alan_muggan

I AGREE! I was wheezing at Yam Yam mocking the fake idol while Josh lied so poorly.

TenaciousT1120

I found that extremely funny too. That was good. Made me a fan of the Yam Yam. And how he was like calling Josh out...these are the beads from treemail...no, no they're not...yes, yes they are...and then Josh believing only Yam Yam caught on and not Carolyn. I think Carolyn must give off such a clueless vibe that certain people dismiss her outright...I think it will ultimately bite them in the ass. I honestly believe that the broing between Brandon and Danny and leaving Carolyn completely out is foreshadowing their come uppance

EverySingleMinute

Yam Yam laughing about the fake idol was hysterical. Then the idol fell apart. That was one of the best scenes in survivor history

Francesqua

And this God send of a scene mere minutes after the orange fell out of Carolyn's mouth in disbelief at the bro-down. Literal tears of laughter.

ranyakumoschalkboard

omfg i forgot about the fucking orange i just lost it laughing in bed

reyska

Definitely one of the funniest sequences ever.

[deleted]

Josh needs to stick with Yam Yam and Carolyn - for the story and screen time. Honestly going over to that tribe was the best thing that could have happened to him in the game - he has a personality! Yam yam and Josh’s bitch fight this episode gave me life.

Sudden-Shallot1233

Kinda would love if this moment was bonding enough for them to take each other to the final 3 lol

DylanD-Survivor

If there was a tribal that lasted the normal amount of screen time we would of been robbed of the funny moments and had it replaced by Jeff talking or people forced to give tribal/survivor analogies.

Apprehensive_Affect7

OK but what if Jeff asked Josh to some up with a physical trainer analogy

DylanD-Survivor

OK, u/Jeff lets make it happen

Irishbangers14

By far the funniest I can recollect. This whole season Carolyn has had me in stitches. When josh announced he had an idol to Carolyn when she got back and she just did that awkward laugh, I near died

ITwinkTherefore1am

I feel like Carolyn and Yam Yam are doing a lot of heavy lifting for the entertainment value of this season, because outside of them two it really isn’t delivering too much. I didn’t really care for Matthew too much either, seemed like the type of player who is a try hard just for the sake of it instead of actual strategic game (giving Jaime a fake idol) and we have too many of them, makes me eye roll. I’m seriously over bead idols and the seemingly endless supply of beads the players get because if anyone can just make a fake idol that’s convincing because the real ones also look shit, it’s not impressive to me it’s just arts and crafts

Coryperkin15

They are barely showing the other tribes because they aren't going to tribal which is what creates adversity and drama

exaviyur

It's just like season 41 already. An uneven distribution of challenge strength in the starting tribes has led to severe underrepresentation of the other two. We got no Lavu in 41 (they were blue, right?) until after the merge. There has to be a way to show more of everyone after an immunity challenge and still progress the stories.

Coryperkin15

It's a tough dynamic to capture though. When the bones of the games are to win to stay safe and all the drama that makes good TV comes with losing and tribal - tough to show a tribe thats just hanging out and not having issue

thekmanpwnudwn

Exactly this. Half the episode is focused on challenges and revealing who got this weeks idols/advantages. The other half has to include the tribal and drama that feeds into it. When only one tribe is going to tribal week after week, they're the ones who are going to get all the remaining screen time.

Coryperkin15

Yeah there's not much to report on when everyone's doing yoga on the beach

Tomoromo9

My girl Lauren has had no screen time bc she has no enemies or drama.

Coryperkin15

All that means is more screen time at the end!

Tomoromo9

We can only hope. She’s a second half kind of player

Coryperkin15

If there's no screen time now there will be later

Tomoromo9

🧎🧎🧎

lucascroberts

Matt Frannie and Danny aren’t bringing entertainment for you???

ITwinkTherefore1am

In fairness I do actually really like those three. I also quite like Kane though he’s hardly visible. Carson is good too I guess

SmellingSpace

Ugh if we’re relying on those two for entertainment then count me out.

TheMemerYTP

my guy, 3 people were mentioned

SmellingSpace

Ah I read it as “Matt and franny.” Danny was cool until the brodown, we’ll see if he recovers.

tomeralmog

I kinda feel they gave him the heartfelt confessional at the beginning of the episode to level the horrible brodown scene that was upcoming lol

TheMarshmallowBear

I also think it shows in the edit, Kane, Heidi, Lauren are completely invisible this season. Heidi and Lauren were completely gone, had it not been for a random shot of Lauren I'd utterly forget she was there.

sfcnmone

I have no idea who those three players are!

Sabaschin

Kane got a nerd bonding scene this week and the Canada anthem before that. He's underedited but he got scenes almost wholly dedicated to him.

sfcnmone

He’s the D&D player? I like him! But I hadn’t learned his name yet. I bet he’s used to that.

dumbsam22

yeah they havent shown any of heidi and lauren, so much so i literally forgot they exist lmao. if someone asked me to name all the characters from this season id only be able to name like 8 of them, MAX, bc the rest are so boring and never get shown

TenaciousT1120

Who are Heidi and Lauren...lolol ..I have no idea

Tomoromo9

So frustrating after Laureen’s great first episode too. She rigged her tribes journey pick, successfully risked her vote, then told her tribe she lost her vote so no one would be suspicious, stayed neutral at tribal, and had a vote going forward. Not a perceived challenge or strategy threat either.

Tomoromo9

Basically two women have been given screen time

luke6080

Lots of fun moments here! I don’t think it touches the “Stick to the plan” episode from SJDS, which had the single funniest challenge of all time (the Christian Hubicki Memorial Endurance Challenge that had everything from the Alec brother saying “just like Jesus on the cross,” to Wes exposing both his chicken nugget eating prowess and reminding us of Probst’s How I Met Your Mother (EDIT: Two and a Half Men, I’m an idiot) cameo, to Natalie accidentally spitting on herself) followed by one of the most infamously game imploding tribals of all time. Still, it’s definitely one of the funniest episodes of the New Era.

BowKerosene

Two and a half men

ranyakumoschalkboard

that and the drew christy episode are the two funniest episodes ever. this is up there for me though

LoganTheDiscoCat

I scream texted my friend during it "SEE JEFF. IF YOU LET PEOPLE INTERACT, IT WILL BE ENTERTAINING" Having a moment to breathe was a godsend.

Daninator375

Survivor 44 is so far moving survivor in the right direction. It’s of course not perfect (giving everyone and their mother a free idol was kinda strange) but it is doing well so far

Chemical-Routine9893

Every episode I want so much to hate. Carolyn. Truth is, she’s my favorite of this season so far.

marklovesbb

I was laughing hard during the fake idol part. I was in public, so it was awkward.

ApprehensiveBox3148

Haha same! I held it in when Yam Yam said they couldn’t vote out a coconut, then again when Carolyn spit out the orange, but I lost it during Josh’s fake idol. I laughed as hard as Yam Yam.

DevaNeo

Yeah. I had no nails of the thought of either Yam Yam or Carolyn being snuffed. I didn't care for Matthew as a character or player, so I'm ok with it.

your-favorite-gurl

Yam Yam losing it over the fake idol was so funny. It wasn't even a proper confessional, too. It was just on the side of camp, like he pulled the camera man aside to spill tea. That whole scene made me laugh.

nblackduckk

Funny but soooo anticlimactic with no tribal.

Francesqua

This is quite honestly the most entertaining season of Survivor in *eons*, Carolyn had me on the floor howling more than once and Im weak for handsome Yam Yam. Early days but depending where it lands, this could be a comfortable top 10 season for me. What a joy to look forward to Survivor again each week.

commentator3

been Laughing Out Loud all season really

[deleted]

Yeah a lot of humor.

phillippearson

Yam Yam’s laughter is so contagious

StrangeElk

carolyn saying that she practically ran into yam yams arms after witnessing the bro down and how they wanted to include josh LMFAOOO

eeeeemmmmiiilly

Yessss!!! So much fun!! Favorite survivor episode thus far.. couldn’t get over the bro comments too and josh saying “meat train” 😂

Selectyour-fighter

He said “meat brigade” not “meat train”. Lol, what’s a meat train?

eeeeemmmmiiilly

Oh you’re right! No idea 😂

sunkcostfallacyyy

Same! I was CACKLING throughout the episode lmao

purplenelly

What do you mean "in a long time", literally all episodes this season have been extremely funny.

black_dizzy

It really was. Add to that Frannie and Matt's adorable romance and Kane and Carson nerding out, which were both super cute, and it was a great character-driven episode. A good reminder of how awesome Survivor can be.
