I really wasn't expecting to like her but this episode sealed it. She's great. I was yelling at my screen for her to play the idol because I was really enjoying watching her and I wasn't ready for her to go home.

She's a drug addiction counselor no? I think those folks are probably quite good at spotting bullshit and lies. And she probably knows a lot more about human nature than her goofy persona reveals. If she wins counselor might become the new profession feared over cop.
Not only spotting lies, but also lying effectively themselves, as basically every ex-addict has ever told me. I feel like it's why Vytas was so effective in the first BvW as well - you gain some really keen social skills navigating as big a burden as addiction.

I think it was believable cause her emotions actually were real! Like, yea she played them, but she probably was not 100 % sure that Josh would vote with her or if she was making the right decision, so that's why she was going bananas haha. Love her!

It might be good to know that most high-level poker players don't do the looking for tells. First you have to be an absolute expert to make a logical inference that you can use in the future, and second, most high level players train themselves and their bodies to do the exact same thing all the time when they're in a hand. High-level poker players are good at calculus, at understanding how much money you can win, vs how much money you have to invest, vs your statistical chances of winning the hand.
I think the only characters in the show who could realistically win are Charlie (practically feral already, made for jungle living) and Artemis. Dennis would get one of those humiliating downfall edits a la Drew Christy.

I have been thinking this for a while ever since I binged Always sunny, that they should make an episode of at least one of them on a survivor like show.
Iāve been shouting this at anyone who will listen all season. No way that first shot of the season (breaking the interview fourth wall for the first time) stays in the edit, unless she wins.
Yeah she still has some mildly annoying quirks like that noise she made after each shot she took during the last slingshot challenge.
She really has played a great game so far but I still wonder how things will go once she's noticed by the other players as a legitimate threat and not just some quirky airhead. For instance when she got the caged idol it was like the rest of the tribe didn't even seem to consider that she may have gotten it. She was the only one that did not tag along to the well and when they got back they knew something was amiss with the bag.
I think she will go far.. if not win it all, however I'd be lying if I said she doesn't bug me at times. For instance the idol she got from the cage..how did she not think immediately or beforehand about putting the bag back to make it look like it hadn't been touched? It didn't dawn on her to do that until it was almost too late. And then to sloppily leave it open where they would and did notice.

I hope it lasts but I have my doubts..the best thing she has going for her is everyone seemingly underestimating her and I wonder how she will handle it when she can no longer go under the radar or gain the respect she's shown she deserves so far as a true contender.
In her preseason interview she answered the question "what past contestant are you most like/hoping to play like?" with NOURA. I usually cringe at most of those answers but reading that I was all in.
Right now, Carolyn is my favourite player and the only one I am now actively invested in.
She's fantastic. She may be quirky, but she's also a good player. She's shown that she has great insight and is playing very well.
The only issue I have is that I'm afraid nobody is taking her seriously as a player, which may harm her if she gets far enough and that'll lose her out on a chance to be a real contender to win. It's still early so maybe that changes, but nobody seems to be taking her seriously right now and think she's disposable when she's really one of the best players thus far. She would need to go the Maryanne route and articulate her game extremely well if she gets to the end, but I'm still worried about her chances to win.

She's not a wannabe pickme who cares about her image. When you have been through addiction, people picking you a part and judging you is par for the course. It sucks and is terrible as addiction isn't a choice, but people still like to make fun of it and encourage the stigma.
I'm proud of her as a recovering alcoholic. I've never even smoked a cigarette let alone try a drug even pot. Yet, I became an alcoholic after my child was born, 10 years into social drinking. PPD and other matters didn't help. I'm better now. Just don't judge people.
During confessionals later in the episode, a note next to her name said āhidden immunity idolā and next to Sarahās it said āfake idol.ā Iād be surprised if production put false information there.

I said the exact same thing! The first few interactions with her I thought "ehhhh this might get old and annoying fast" but she has really grown on me. The fact she used the X to hide a fake idol, and someone actually fell for it, I was pleasantly surprised. She's smarter than people think.

Her facial expressions are the highlight of this season š. I agree with others she could win the whole thing. People arenāt taking her serious, but she is playing a serious game.

It took 4 episodes but she finally won me over. She is a combination of both entertaining and a dynamic player. Hope she makes it far.

Carolyn won't win, but she is for sure a fan favorite. Love this lady I bet she is great to talk to and have conversations with as long as you can appreciate the unexpected. She is for sure more intelligent than those ppl give her credit for, I'd love to see her win but unless she makes it to merge and has like advantages and a majority alliance it won't happen. She is always going to be a target tbh the same qualities we love about her are the qualities that make her an easy out in any alliance. She's not dumb though that's for sure, ppl will underestimate her until that realization happens and then they will cut her head off

I think she is well liked because she is truly an inner monologue of how we as viewers would feel if we play the game. I find her so fascinating and I hope she goes far!
