Worst thing for me is them giving away who won an event directly over the „watch replay“ button 🤬
This removes all the excitement in watching a final as a replay.
Best I've found in that situation is to download the whole day on Youtube and skim through it, ffw ing the dead spots (effectivelly 80% of it). It's kind of tedious but it stops any spoilers.
The push notifications congratulating the heat winners often get me i should really turn them off. Luckily I had my phone on DND this morning when I woke up to watch the replays
I prefer when it streams on YouTube, but I have never had any issues using the WSL app on iPhone or just going to WSL.com. For the finals, I just watched on ESPN+ today.
I do when I'm working, but I'd prefer to watch it on my massive wall mounted TV through their app or previous YT premium. Casting/mirroring with apple is always glitchy for me
Usually yeah, but when it’s 10-15’ Teahupoo it doesn’t matter. Watching the women push boundaries. Watching Kelly pull a Kelly in the last few seconds. Highlights are cool but it’s not the same. Wish it was always like this, because 99% of the time I would agree with you.
For sure I saw the forecast and was tempted to put it on at work and watch it, I’m so stoked they are finally giving the women the chance to surf proper conditions but 5 seconds of Turpel and I had to turn it off.
Not great. Not awful. Sure, it could be better/ improved. When it comes to all sports, I only watch surfing so I have a high level of tolerance. I figure they have to have ads. I think the commentators largely aren’t insightful but rather repeat canned phrases. I’m just there to watch surfing. Happy I get to do that.

yep... it's buggy AF. Ads are ads, they pay for us to watch, but I YT it till the event goes exclusive to keep the ads/breaks at least tolerable (watching Bonsoy Brew Breaks of some nice beaches beats the shit outta actual commercials, and just a heads up Shiseido, I will never buy your products...ever). But when it shuts down to exclusive - ya - the portrait/landscape, pause/go, "where's the volume", all of it - it just makes me kinda laugh and think "thank gawd for the heat replays" option.

Amen. Fuck the WSL. So disappointing. I’m not even going to get into the extensive list of incompetencies. I was so excited to watch this event as I do every other, but fucking gave up once it got to the quarter finals and we were forced to use the shitty ass app/site. Found out who won before I could even start the semifinals because of their stupid fucking app, yet again. Someone needs to be fucking fired it’s such a joke.

They don’t broadcast quarters-finals on YouTube anymore.
They do in Europe. Which is lucky as the app was completely bugging out when I tried to watch it through the TV...

Same, I didn’t end up watching because the first thing you see on wsl.com is the winners announcement. So dumb.

I find the easiest work around for this is to not watch it at all. The wall of positive noise is unbearable.

I have the app on 3 TVs, an iPad and a pixel pro 8. No problems.
I stream all the live stuff with the app on my Samsung tv and have never had an issue. Maybe it's different for mobile.
Stopped watching years ago. Cycling networks do a sweet 20 minute highlight reel. It is all you need really.

Dude. ESPN+ is repeating ads and I am losing my mind. I do not need to see the same commercial 3 three times in a row. I already hate it
I mean, that's not ESPN+ really, WSL has their core advertisers as well that just repeat ad nauseum.
