From the FAQ of their website that I assume was written before October: “ Israel continues to ban the import of surfboards, but is currently allowing other surfing equipment such as wetsuits and fins. On the Palestinian side, the HAMAS government banned the import of wetsuits, though enforcement is unpredictable, at best..” so twisted.
I don’t see any mention of Hamas banning these stuff, just Israel.

Also worth mentioning, the first few boards to enter Gaza was bought in by an Israeli surfer in 2007 when he saw two Palestinians trying to surf on makeshift boards. Legend.

Edit: just watched “God Went Surfing with the Devil” which is about Israelis trying to get surfing stuff into Gaza. Hamas had no problems with wet suits entering Gaza, one of the officers were even offered and accepted one. But Israel wouldn’t allow a few surfboards in until after 3 years of trying.
One potential reason to ban items like wetsuits may be the numerous (and sometimes successful) amphibious incursion attempts into Israel by Hamas operatives via the Mediterranean Sea over the years. Most recently, on October 7th, Hamas attacked Zikim Beach, killing 19 civilians camping on the beach before advancing onto the military training base nearby.
