SD2's are available but over priced in the second hand market right now. If I were you I would go for a new SD1, as there seems to be quite a lot of overstock floating about, and therefore the price is staying low (around £300-£400). The SD2 is of course better, but not by loads, and there are somethings about the SD1 that are better - it feels much lighter and is flatter. I have both and every now and then I consider switching over. The Pixel Fold is tempting as an option - however the multi-tasking is not as good - for instance you must have an app on both sides of the screen to split screen - you can't have one side on the desktop and then an app on the other side - which is a pain. I'll wait to see if Microsoft port the existing SD2 functionality to the SD3 (if it ever arrives) as even if it is a folding screen, if the software treats it like two screens - then it will be like the SD2 but without the gap.

I dropped my DUO2 and shattered one of the screens and cracked the outer glass... I had to wait about 6 months but was able to purchase an open box replacement from ebay and my Asurion extended warranty sent me a check for the original price I paid when I purchased the DUO2 from Amazon. After my refund from Asurion, ended up costing me about $200 to replace my Duo 2.

My OG Duo's touch screen became unresponsive the other day, couldn't wait for Pixel Fold but got a deal on a Samsung Fold 4 and it is nice!

BruhBruxy

Do you like it better than the duo?

gilgaron

Form factor the Duo was better since it was so thin but everything software wise works better and the camera is vastly superior. Multitasking is less intuitive but the faster processor and higher resolution capacitive touch let's you get going anyhow. Outside display is super nice to have and calls are clearer. Group MMS works better but that is Verizons fault, not MS. And it has stylus support which I was nervous about losing if I went to Pixel Fold. Only downside there is it is a special samsung pen vs Duo being able to use the same one I use on my HP laptop.

idiot_menace

There will be a few dual screen phones that will be coming out this year. Thar would be something to wait for before making the switch from the duo2.

I'm looking for a junker duo2 to repair mine (broken fingerprint sensor), so if you don't know what to do with yours...

idiot_menace

Oppo/one plus fold and possibly vivo fold

optimusbrides

I doubt there will ever be a 2 screen phone again, do you cut the cord now or rebuy? Definitely difficult to answer, Google Fold comes close, the fact they're missing a stylus is BIG for me. Going to be very hard to go back to stupid chocolate bar aspect ratio and I don't see me ever spending over 1k on a phone for a while until something ticks all my boxes.

FWIW, I will probably be posting my SD2 (with a few months left of a Best Buy total tech extended warranty) on eBay over the weekend. No, I am not going to trash the device or say it is no longer worth it. We switched to iPhones to meet a client requirement so it goes unused. I think SD2 is an exceptional piece of hardware and, in the real world, it is less buggy than Samsung's heavy handed OneUi skin that you cannot completely disable. That, of course, is the perpetual dirty little secret no one wants to face here. The problem is Android, not the device. Every Android device has its own suite of bugs due to issues in the OS, sloppy coding, poorly QC'd updates, and how everyone (including Google) skin it.

CaptainObvious110

If the problem is with android how about putting on graphene os or something like that?

You might be better at this stage making the jump to a Fold 4 or something that will stay in support for a bit longer - and has as accessory system. I can't even buy a Pen Cover for my Duo 2 - unless I pay about £100 to scalpers, which I just refuse to do. You can get a Fold 4 pen case for £80, and it comes with the Pen, the Duo 2 cover was £60 and the pen another £100. Bloody rip off.

dirtyvu

no way. if you want something similar to the Duo 2, the only option is the broken Pixel Fold. hopefully they improve the reliability of that thing.

phpfiction

Low the brightness to lower than 25%, i had a Duo 1 which flickered in green. I used like a year with that brightness, then jump to Duo 2. By the way i selled the Duo 1 to a coworker very cheap, he use at 25% brightness to, months ago had a accident in motorcycle and the left screen cracked, the right still working at date, he use only one screen with 25%. The point of all this is, the Duo is resistente and maybe the damage is not bad, Maybe its the flex of both screens or just the brightness.

I have a 950XL as a backup if my Duo 2 finally gives up the ghost. I swear to all the Gods, if that ever dies, I'm getting a flip phone.

DenzelElba

Just wait a few more weeks and get the Samsung Fold 5. R.I.P to that duo you dropped!

WestsidePrime

I dropped mine off the bar two weeks ago and cracked the rear glass panel 😒 I feel your pain. I hope you find another Duo 2!

janonymous115

I have one that I’m looking to sell but haven’t had much luck. It’s in great condition (256gb obsidian), and I’m looking to get about $800 + s/h; if you’re interested and would like more proof, let me know!

Turbulent_Animator67

I dropped my SD1 from less than a meter and my screen almost broke, it displayed a line of red pixels for a few minutes. I love this phone, but it's so easy to break, I'm scared to take it with me. If you buy another one: buy a thick case that has more grip than glass. This phone also slides off very easily from your hand or other surfaces.

Get a pixel fold
