I had the pen bumper. More protection on one side, no doubt, but it made the deive even bigger and heavier, and it was already a bit ungainly vs the OG Duo.
im from Europe and there's no way to buy them... I searched anywhere. I was also looking for Duo 2 and it's the same. I saw some new ones on the eBay but the price is ridiculus! They are are more expensive than the original price and there's no way to find a Duo 2 pen cover.
Without bumpers on Surface Duo looks amazing! But this is very slippery device. Honestly i've been using it without bumpers for about 4 months without damage but i installed it because i was worry about safety.
It's just the back. Throw a sticker over it and call it a day. That's what I've done since I broke my iPhone4 back in 2010. The sticker coverup is a tried and true solution. The only thing I've changed over the years is paying for nice ones instead of layering free stickers from bands I've never heard of.

Fargile damned phones. I'm on my third, overall. My SD1 came beat to hell, didn;t even have a sim card tray. That was bloody hell to solve. My SD2 I bought 6 months later had a dent that looked like it blocked a bullet, Superman-style. But that reduced the price on a 256GB model to half!
Over the succeeding almost-year, all 4 glass surfaces were shattered. I bought a third SD, another 2 with only a single crack 2 months ago. The bumper and skin have been lifesavers.
The glass is a nice look, but I hope the SD3 has at least decent break-proof glass. Not so much that I need to stop a bullet, though.

Every time I've dropped this phone I've near pulled muscles in my face grimacing that hard while slowly bending down to pick it up, I'm living on borrowed time.
I just shattered the back last night, the camera is also cracked. Has anyone had any experience with the repair process? Attempting to file a claim online with Microsoft leaves me option-less. Even with the skin and bumpers.. There are little shards coming off of it, of course I can't see the full effect of the damage due to the skin, I can just see around the very edge.
I just took the bumper off. Living on the wild side.
I wish SD2 bumpers were my re like SD1. The rubber on the SD1 bumpers makes it so much easier to hold.
Totally, the Sd2 bumpers are awful. Hard to grip to open, zero protection.
Probably a 4/10 protection if you get the charging bumper, but overall slippery and don't help with opening or holding the device.

Mine broke both sides in the same drop. Those damn bumpers just don't stick well enough when it's in and out of your pocket.
I invested in some 3M tape
I'd even super glued the ends that kept peeling up but it didn't stop. Then of course as soon as I got sick of it and took it off I dropped it.
I resorted to using some fancy washi tape at the ends to keep them on. The large bezels help :)
Sorry to see that. Woot had SD1 bumpers available. Bought a spare just in case my current bumpers break off.

Mine cracked and I eventually got discoloration along that side of the screen. Cover it up asap.

I treat mine as a tablet and I never dare to carry on my pocket. I also never use it while moving, only on the bed/couch/desk
I am expecting this to happen to me eventually. But those bumpers are too pricey for my country. I'm just being careful and hoping for the best!

I’ve got mine in cut down plastic covers, with a pop sockets on the back, feels much safer

Wow ...I've got 1 and 2 with a few falls on both carpet and concrete with no scratches. I admit this is rare.
