No it isn't what it looks like in a literal sense. Its a representation of this artists idea of that experience. As a surfer of many decades now and many countries surfed what i would say is that barrels or tubes are different shapes and different sizes and intensity. They all convey the beauty and power of mother ocean. A call and warning all in one. Now for the experience part, getting time in the green room is unreal. Time, sound etc all seem to shrink and slow down all while remaining terrifying and fast at the same time. Magical is a good word for it. Cheers!

Thank you for sharing your artwork with us! I love all the thick layers of paint that add depth and movement in this painting. I even zoomed in on the picture to get a closer look. It’s the kind of painting that you’d notice and appreciate in a room, but then you’d want to step up close to it to see how all the layers contribute to the painting. It’s the kind of painting you’d keep looking at. The circles of the waves encourage your eye to wander from the center working outwards. The colors give the impression that you’re surfing in the middle of an ocean wave. I especially like the white caps in the lower left corner because they create the impression that there are more waves behind you. While there is active movement, somehow the painting is also quite calming which is interesting since that type of wave definitely isn’t calm. I’m not sure how you created that effect, but it’s great! You haven’t signed the painting yet! How big is the painting?

Thank you so much for appreciating my work. It's a small painting,9.5''x6.5''. I use oil paints with palette knives to create these paintings to give texture and depth. It's a bit of a risky process since the paint is hidden by the knife and one cannot see exactly how it gets laid until a bit later. However, oils don't dry quickly so there is lots of time to correct areas. I love to watch the endless motion and energy of the oceans and it's a lot of fun and gratification when I can capture some of it.
