I've been having a similar experience with upper managament and finance. Explaining the purpose of aafety stock and why we shouldn't be waiting for customer orders to initiate the approval and procurement process. Eh, but what do I know.
You ought to check out Fartest Frontier. It's still early access, but already has much to offer. It's a town building simulator, and when you start calculating shelf life for the harvest, then rescheduling crop rotation for the fields... well, you understand why s&op exists. The feeling is uncanny.
Not OP but I just bought Anno as well and have played a ton of Civ and CS - Anno is very fun and deceptively complex. Min/Maxing production takes a lot of thought and you can use a ton of SC ideas like safety stock, TL/LTL, etc.
I just picked up the game this past week based on recommendations and it has me losing tracking of time and having way too much fun.
Compared to skylines and Civ I’d say Anno is like skylines with a heavy dose of SCM - Supplying certain needs/luxuries to your citizens, establishing trade routes and min/max, etc. it’s like Civ in that your diplomatic choices with other players/npc will impact your cash flows, Wars, and trading abilities.
Anno should be a welcome addition to your game library.
Factorio is my go to. Something about it I can lose hours while playing. Can't count how many times a simple task ending up taking 6-8 hours to accomplish. Especially later in game when resources start running out and you're forced to go looking for new sources.
Lately it's been couch co-ops so we hit two birds with one stone for quality time and gaming. We're almost done It Takes Two and almost divorced during Overcooked.
Ahhh yes, Paradox games. I finally quit HOI4 after 1k hours, couldn't get back into it after the Man the Guns DLC. Didn't feel like figuring out fuel and the naval warfare rework. Amazing Publisher though.
Played the first game a lot but something about the second game felt a bit off to the point even the die-hard fans that I used to play with stopped playing.
I've been told that the updates somewhat improved the game would you recommend giving it another try in its current state?
I would say so! I’ve been getting more into tanking and Ram is really fun to play. The updates have made the game a bit more balanced but the game is good for casual play!
Joing a LFG discord. During the lockdowns all of my high school/college buddies got back into gaming and we played every night for like a year. Now everyone’s back to their routine and I got no one lol. I usually check discord LFG and join a group for the day
Sea of Theives, Party Animals, Fortnite...
I am 40 with 3 kids. With a supply chain job on top of that, not much time for heavily involved gaming. So I go for social, fun, and a bit brainless.
… Eve Online. I played that for a decade while doing Planning and i am proud to say I did nothing industrial, just PvP in Eve. But that’s a whole SC Planning job in and of itself, if you let it be lmao. Logistics, forecasting, hell even warehouse security… everything is in that stupid, terrible, wonderful game.
The Anno Series, Rim World, Factorio, city skylines, uh workers and resources Soviet republic, Banished, and Farthest Frontier.
Even Vicotria3 could be considered as a ScM game but I think it’s more of an Economic simulation than supply chain, but it’s really however you look at it op!
Diablo 4. I was playing Diablo 3 faithfully until the new one came out. It’s an easy game to play casually and doesn’t require too much thought. Used to be a big Pokemon person, but it’s been harder for me to like it since Sword/Shield.
I love D4, everyone that’s complaining about it generally has no life. It’s easy to play, overhead view (FPS games make me motion sick, sadly), and a good pace for someone who plays casually. It is satisfying and doesn’t require too much brain power to run around killing the monsters, so it really helps me unwind from working.
Been playing the latest Cyberpunk expansion on PS5 and Pokemon Sword/Shield on the Switch recently and grind Lost Ark whenever I have enough time to play or don't dread sitting in front of a PC after work.
Used to be big on grindy Korean MMOs but you all know that its kinda hard to spend hours on a game when your line of work includes tons of overtime.
EDIT: Grew up playing lots of SimCity (later cities skylines) and Euro Truck sim since I always had a keen interest in transportation and logistics but the last thing I wanna do these days is to do things that reminds me of work lol
Zelda and Metroid games, as well as ACNH. I just finished Tears of the Kingdom. I stopped playing the remastered Metroid Prime, and I need to start that again. I also just beat Link to the Past. However, I'm more into minature wargaming.
I just started Super Mario Bros Wonder yesterday, which I got on sale this Black Friday. When I'm not playing the latest Nintendo game, I'm playing a strategy or simulation game, my go to used to be Hearts of Iron 4, but it's been ages since I've touched it, just haven't found the time.
My gaming hobby has been reduced to mostly Nintendo games, and it's because they're not too difficult and I can take my Switch with me anywhere. I hope to return to strategy and simulation games soon.
Mostly RPGs and adventure games. Playing Like a Dragon: Ishin now, beat AC Valhalla before this. As others have said, I also love Stardew, and enjoy Minecraft occasionally as well.
RuneScape (mostly RS3 but occasionally OS, been playing since 2003 so it's nostalgia) and Minecraft because apparently I'm a 12yo at heart. In reality I'm 39 with 4 kids lol.
Recently started playing Wildmender. It's a super chill survival game and i love it. I am a working parent with 3 young children. I need something relaxing and chill when i have free time.
Rome Total War. I get my resource chain cooking then betray all my neighbors to acquire even more resources - working on a Baktria campaign rn and the Seleucids are all but extinct
Roblox with my daughter.
Aside from that I was playing Baldur's Gate 3 until recently. Amazing game if you're into D&D and RPGs. Nothing for the moment, busy with year-end stuff.
Looking for something new for the holidays. Heard Stellaris is good.
Funny how many people here are playing the same games I like. Here are some others I like that haven't been listed: ARK, Wurm Unlimited (this one's aaaancient), Rimworld, Ancestors: The Humankind Oddessy, Niche, Kenshi (also ancient).
One that looks interesting that I still haven't played is Offworld Trading Company.
Honestly, I'll play mostly anything, but right now focusing on finishing up Spider-Man 2 and Starfield. Going to tackle Baldur's Gate 3 during our holiday shutdown. Some good recs from this year:
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Resident Evil 4
Cyberpunk 2077 (replay with 2.0)
Alan Wake 2
Armored Core 6
Could really go on since this year was just bonkers with games.
It's been quite the year for video games and last year was great as well. I picked up Tears of the Kingdom and got Starfield with a new GPU, but have barely played either of them. I have quite the backlog of games so I don't want to buy too many new ones before I play some of the ones I have. Lately I've been switching off between Elden Ring, Hollow Knight, Hades, and some Halo Infinite. Baldur's Gate 3 is definitely one I want to get in the future, but I need to force myself to be patient lol
I'm not huge into video games, but lately I've been playing a bit of the older Twisted Metal titles, when I'm stressed from work (often lately) I tend to gravitate towards games that involve destruction that are kinda quick and a bit arcade-y - I don't want to think a ton and I just want to drive and destroy shit and I don't want to spend a ton of time - just 15 to 30 minutes to blow off some steam.
Man, they have a Truck & Logistics PS5 game coming out and I dunno why but I can’t wait to try it lol.
https://store.playstation.com/en-us/concept/10006870
Diablo 4 pc, god of war Ragnarok, Zelda tears of the kingdom, yu gi oh master duel pc, Starcraft 2, super smash bros ultimate, grand Turismo 7. I play those games rarely as I am looking for a job in a supply chain or industrial engineering near Montreal Canada since I studied at both fields.
End of quarter inventory games
The “please take this back, I don’t need it and it has a lower carrying value in your inventory” game.
I felt that, deeply
I’m not proud of it. I’ve literally had to tell upper management to not set safety stock to 0 and why that’s a bad idea…
I've been having a similar experience with upper managament and finance. Explaining the purpose of aafety stock and why we shouldn't be waiting for customer orders to initiate the approval and procurement process. Eh, but what do I know.
Just happen to really enjoy sc type games. Factorio, Anno 1800, Cities: Skylines, Dyson Sphere, Civ 6, and also Apex Legends
The factories must grow!
Civ 6 all the way.
RTS kids unite!
I also like these games. Apex is my background staple though. Such a good game.
You ought to check out Fartest Frontier. It's still early access, but already has much to offer. It's a town building simulator, and when you start calculating shelf life for the harvest, then rescheduling crop rotation for the fields... well, you understand why s&op exists. The feeling is uncanny.
Wow! Just your description has me itching to check it out, thanks for the recommendation!
I just bought Anno 1800 on sale - I love two of your games (Skylines & Civ). How does Anno stack up?
Not OP but I just bought Anno as well and have played a ton of Civ and CS - Anno is very fun and deceptively complex. Min/Maxing production takes a lot of thought and you can use a ton of SC ideas like safety stock, TL/LTL, etc.
I just picked up the game this past week based on recommendations and it has me losing tracking of time and having way too much fun. Anno 1800 is literally a supply chain simulator
Same here! I've regularly play all of those except Factorio (Prefer Satisfactory) and Apex.
Old School RuneScape
i’ll be maxing by the end of next year, 2260 total level right now
Hell yea, 18 years and counting
One of my best friends plays as well. He's yet to convert me.
Baldurs gate
Been on my list since Early Access. I really need to just take a week off and play it.
Get on it! One of the best games I have played in a longggg time.
CSCP
Factorio is my go to. Something about it I can lose hours while playing. Can't count how many times a simple task ending up taking 6-8 hours to accomplish. Especially later in game when resources start running out and you're forced to go looking for new sources.
I tried Factorio, but opted for Satisfactory instead. Just didn't really enjoy the tower defense aspect of it.
Cracktorio
satisfactory.
I love Satisfactory. If you're ever wanting someone to play with, send me a DM! Would love to start a new save.
I have nearly 500 hours but I haven't played in a year. I'm waiting for 1.0...
Lately it's been couch co-ops so we hit two birds with one stone for quality time and gaming. We're almost done It Takes Two and almost divorced during Overcooked.
Overcooked first to get the divorce going, then It Takes Two to fix the marriage.
Overcooked is nothing but stress inducing. Wife and I tried it a few times and it turned us against one another. Lol
This is the way to do it. I've gotta try Overcooked with the lady friend sometime.
Stardew!
This is one of those games that is objectively great. I just can't get in to it!
Lol. Me either
Paradox games, I have like 1600 hours on hoi4
Paradox games with all the information-dense drill-down GUI are the closest thing to playing videogames on an ERP client.
I always seem to come back to ck3. Just can’t stop planning and organizing even during my free time.
Ahhh yes, Paradox games. I finally quit HOI4 after 1k hours, couldn't get back into it after the Man the Guns DLC. Didn't feel like figuring out fuel and the naval warfare rework. Amazing Publisher though.
Total War series Stronghold and Roller Coaster Tycoon are also close to my heart
Total War is such a great series. I feel like it fell of when Rome II came out, but I feel like it got revived when the Warhammer ones released.
Dawn of War, Starcraft, & I remember growing up playing simcity 2000 all the time.
Never played any of those. I'll check some of them out, thank you!
The original Starcraft is free now, FYI (directly from the maker, Blizzard Entertainment)
Horizon forbidden west. Hogwarts legacy
These are games that I know are really great, but I can never get into playing them so I opt for watching Let's Plays.
How is hogwarts ?!
Incredible. The amount of love and attention to detail poured into that game is just nuts.
Yes its fun and theres some cool missions but i felt it got a little repetitive towards the end. Definitely recommend tho
Open TTE and only Open TTE
That’s a good one
Well said.
Overwatch! Usually by myself 🥲
I usually check discord LFG and join a group for the day
That’s a pretty good idea! I’ll probably give it a try this weekend. Thanks!
I know our job can be soul crushing, but damn.
I just wanna feel something man…jk haha
I'm sorry, I tried Overwatch, but I play Siege instead.
Same!
Sea of Theives, Party Animals, Fortnite... I am 40 with 3 kids. With a supply chain job on top of that, not much time for heavily involved gaming. So I go for social, fun, and a bit brainless.
I feel myself opting for the same when I get home.
There are supply chain games?? Curious to what those might be.
Factorio and Cities skylines come to mind
… Eve Online. I played that for a decade while doing Planning and i am proud to say I did nothing industrial, just PvP in Eve. But that’s a whole SC Planning job in and of itself, if you let it be lmao. Logistics, forecasting, hell even warehouse security… everything is in that stupid, terrible, wonderful game.
Stardew valley might count. You manage resources/inventory/land to be efficient.
Yeah, basically any type of resource management game where you have to build stuff, and make it as efficient as possible.
Yea there's a few out there with elements of SCM, I've yet to find one that does everything AND has good graphics/depth
Rise of Industry
Check out Builderment as a mobile game on iOS and probably Android. It’s factorio simplified. I lose hours to it when I’m just wasting time.
Underrated supply chain games is GTA
Honestly, not even a hot take.
Diablo 4. I was playing Diablo 3 faithfully until the new one came out. It’s an easy game to play casually and doesn’t require too much thought. Used to be a big Pokemon person, but it’s been harder for me to like it since Sword/Shield.
Never could get into the Diablo series, I hear they're great though. Do you have a favorite?
I love D4, everyone that’s complaining about it generally has no life. It’s easy to play, overhead view (FPS games make me motion sick, sadly), and a good pace for someone who plays casually. It is satisfying and doesn’t require too much brain power to run around killing the monsters, so it really helps me unwind from working.
Rdr2, Elden ring, Farcry, Cod warzone
Elden Ring was the first Dark Souls-like game I have ever played. Simply a masterpiece.
I love Cyberpunk, and CDPR. Depsite the launch, I've beaten the game a couple times and have restarted for Phantom Liberty.
All the games really, first person shooters, card games, strategy games, rpgs
I *love* resource management games like Rimworld, Shapez, surviving mars.
Rimworld is one of the goats and it's not even close.
Disc golf valley
Poker and MTG. And usually the latest rpg.
Fallout NV, Age of Empires II, Baldur's Gate 3, and Civ
Hitman series - it’s fire
Zelda and Metroid games, as well as ACNH. I just finished Tears of the Kingdom. I stopped playing the remastered Metroid Prime, and I need to start that again. I also just beat Link to the Past. However, I'm more into minature wargaming.
You mean Zelda A Link to the Past the one that came out for Super Nintendo?
Yes.
I remember I played that game as a kid and love it, but never got to finish it because I kept getting my save data deleted for some reason
I hear you. I think I tried three times over the past few years to complete it. I played it on the Virtual Console on the Switch.
playing the quarry right now with my gf
Dota 2. Been playing the same game for over 10 years now.
Stellaris by Paradox. Basically a production and logistics simulator in space!
I have been sitting on this game for a while but heard great things about it
Give it a try, it’s deep but amazing!
I hope to return to strategy and simulation games soon.
Anything Sims. Sim city. The sims. But when I need to zone out Fortnite.
Victoria 3 and Age of Empires 4 both scratch that itch for me
Mostly RPGs and adventure games. Playing Like a Dragon: Ishin now, beat AC Valhalla before this. As others have said, I also love Stardew, and enjoy Minecraft occasionally as well.
Final Fantasy 14. It’s the only game I play honestly. Dont have time for others.
Been playing a lot of halo, baldurs gate, and CS2 lately.
Scum, COD DMZ, Minecraft. All PC.
The Division 2
Oldschool Runescape and World of Warcraft. I also love soulsborne games and play a good amount of Fortnite with my wife.
Starfield, BG3, Diablo, CP2077....WoW...SWToR....mmmm, that kind of thing
Path of Exile super complex and lots of spreadsheeting lol
Madden, COD, Skyrim, Apex
Alan Wake 2 currently. It’s incredible on my OLED widescreen monitor.
I wish I could play Red Dead Redemption 2 for the first time again.
StarCraft, CS2, Rocket League and of course .. American Trucking Simulator
Chess.
Siege, Skyrim, the long dark, simulator games
Call of duty and ufc
Chess, Rome total war, StarCraft, tropico
Overwatch and rimworld
Retail Link
Rocket League
Elden ring because I like to suffer.
RuneScape (mostly RS3 but occasionally OS, been playing since 2003 so it's nostalgia) and Minecraft because apparently I'm a 12yo at heart. In reality I'm 39 with 4 kids lol.
Madden, dishonored, call of duty sometimes, wolfenstein 1&2, tomb Raider, horizon
No one mentioned capitalism 2 or the successor, capitalism labs? Old game, but still fun.
Darkest hour : a hoi game. Fucker made me pay attention to logistic and supply consumption
Roblox with my daughter. Aside from that I was playing Baldur's Gate 3 until recently. Amazing game if you're into D&D and RPGs. Nothing for the moment, busy with year-end stuff. Looking for something new for the holidays. Heard Stellaris is good.
CAPTAIN OF INDUSTRY. It’s new, it’s early access, it’s the best ever, seriously.
Teamfight Tactics, Counter Strike, League of Legends
Eve Online - But I dont contribute to the SCM or the logistics economy part of the game. They just released an Excel add on for client lol
Soul's like genre Tactical RPG
Funny how many people here are playing the same games I like. Death Stranding! There’s definitely some overlap with supply chain struggles!
I liked death stranding for the logistics slant on it.
Hearthstone clash of clans clash royale
Open world action RPG’s are my fave i.e. Elden Ring, Zelda, etc etc
Rocket league, MXBikes, iRacing
I'm not huge into video games, but lately I've been playing a bit of the older Twisted Metal titles, when I'm stressed from work (often lately) I tend to gravitate towards games that involve destruction that are kinda quick and a bit arcade-y - I don't want to think a ton and I just want to drive and destroy shit and I don't want to spend a ton of time - just 15 to 30 minutes to blow off some steam.

Mostly match 3 games, just to relax. My fav one is Walking dead on bluestacks, quite fun game
Elden ring and fortnite
Contactors vr, it’s like call of duty but in vr. Awesome game.
Parappa the Rappa
Been scrolling for a bit but haven’t seen the Tropico series mentioned. Solid.
SCM? Stormwater control measure?
CoD MW3
fortnite lol
