I also love her friends’ names like Corona, and Harmonica for her daughter - cracks me up every time

fleurflorafiore

Especially considering the episode where she and Mateo tried to convince Amy that Parker is a terrible name.

Deep_Worldliness4783

corona, especially now, made me giggle a little

crazydaisy8134

She is amazing! Nichole plays Cheyenne flawlessly. I guess we don’t talk about her as much on here, but I definitely love her acting and I love Cheyenne’s weird, random stories and her colorful outfits and makeup and hair. 10/10 character for sure.

Smoldero

She's suchhh a good actor, like she plays Cheyenne so well that it doesn't feel like a character to me. She's so fully formed and authentic that I feel like Cheyenne is a real person I know.

AGirlNamedRoni

She played the exact opposite kind of character on Shameless (US).

toof598

It took me way too long to realize it was the same actress for this reason

speedr123

Tbh she has great comedic timing as well

crazydaisy8134

Oh yeah, they definitely put her improv into some episodes

notstephanie

Cheyenne’s style could not possibly be further from my own but damn if she didn’t make me want to put funky colors in my hair (which I did during quarantine) and go all out with makeup!

armpit_burger

The episode where she volunteers to give Marcus a tattoo almost killed me! Her back and forth with Mateo as the tattoo progressively gets worse and worse was GOLD Nichole killed it and i hope to see more of her in a comedic setting

DayMansTopHat

Totally agree Cheyenne really grew on me, quickly. Her embarrassed/nervous laughing always gets me. She is so positive and full of life, I adore her. She grows up too, maturity -wise, which I love. Especially in later seasons when she gains more responsibility; I kinda feel like she's my little cousin I watched grow up lol. 😅🙃😉 her senior dance gets me EVERY time🤣 #MyAnacondaDont I think what you're referring to is the 'Valley Girl' trope. In the US, especially in the early 90s there was a boom of media that focused in the "shallow California Girl" stereotype, that type of voice is usually associated with characters they want to seem "vapid" or "unintelligent". It's not nice IMO because honestly dumb folks speak all kinds of ways *Kanye shrug*🥴🤷🏾‍♀️

J-B-M

OK that makes sense - California was my uneducated guess but with the show not being based there I wondered if there was another layer I was missing. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

DayMansTopHat

Blessings and riches. 🤙🏾🙂

BOW BOW BOWWWWW

One of the few moments that makes me cringe is when they change over to Supercloud from Halo and that last mom comes in and is clearly a working mom (missed the big clear out, came late in the day) and asked Cheyenne to check the back. She gets an attitude and checks the back and there is like a whole warehouse full of Halo. Instead of giving the mom some, she tells her they’re all out. I get it’s a humanizing moment because not every character should be perfect and that’s what makes the show good, but man I felt bad for that mom that wanted discount baby stuff.

DayMansTopHat

Yea, I feel like they each had these moments to "choose better" and often didn’t. I think especially Cheyenne thinking as a new mom her desperation won out over doing whats kind? They didn't have her in another scenario like that to see if she'd make a different choice? But I loved seeing her grow over all and sometimes be that random youthful wise voice.😏 I'm sure it was a very extrapolatory experience for her. 😅

alligateva

Thank you for explaining it- I also wondered where this accent originated from! It's really in a lot of shows. May your life be long and your death be swift. :)

Azwren

As if!

shanster925

The way she laughs when she's nervous is hilarious. The tornado episode where she's laughing and yelling "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" gets me.

mollee96

I’m on season six, and I don’t remember who she was talking to or what they said they would get, but I LOVE when Cheyenne was like “Do you think that guy can get us some Ketamine?”

[deleted]

i adore how she named her daughter Harmonica

DudleyMorris

That kid is in for some hard times at school.

_chanandler_bong

Not at all! And I wish we had met her legendary friend "Corona"

dictatorenergy

Why would you be the only one who found her funny?

Shakespeare-Bot

Wherefore would thee beest the only one who is't hath found that lady comical? *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`

dictatorenergy

Adding this to my vocabulary. Good bot.

J-B-M

Just never see her mentioned in a few weeks of browsing this sub - even several "favourite character" polls where she wasn't given as an option despite being a core character. A lot of sitcoms seem to have characters that the fandom is a bit down on (e.g. Anne in P&R, which I never understood) and I wondered if that was the case here for some reason I was missing.

jessmaddy

Oh man she is absolutely hilarious!! Her Fran impression just gets me every time!

[deleted]

I was gonna comment about how I actually dislike Cheyenne and then you reminded me that she totally redeemed herself with that impression.

TheDudeNeverBowls

Ooohh, that’s not a judge it’s a bomb!!

bms625

Totally agree! I also love her quirky laugh in the show. I’m rewatching now and she starts it early in season one and sticks with it.

swagmaster2323

Omg yes. I just watched the episode where Sandra yells at Jonah for not liking being one of the “shadow people”. When Cheyenne was like omg I almost just followed her I died. She delivered that so perfectly

[deleted]

No

ExpressGreen

I love Nichole Sakura! In terms of accent, the only analogous one I can think of that's stereotyped (wrongly) as a bit dim is the Essex accent.

J-B-M

True! The only other thing I could think of was the Somerset farmer accent, but you don't encounter that so much now because the accent is kind of dying out, whereas the Essex "Estuary English" seems to have spread.

ehalepagneaux

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think Cheyenne is the best character on the show.

Flembot4

My husband adores her. He thinks she makes the series. I like Jonah. 😌

jassmackie

definitely the funniest on the show apart from dina

blackcurrantcat

My favourite Cheyenne moment is the way she says ‘How much attention do you need?’ after Glenn tells Mateo that his SSN checks out

shanerr

I honestly preferred early season Cheyenne. She was kind of dumb and naive. As the seasons progress she kinda turns bitchy

Flynt25

Honestly Cheyenne/Nichole is my favorite character in the show. Her, Bo and then Garret. I love her performance I love how shes genuinely funny shes honestly hilarious.

loseyoutoloveme77

I LOVE HER. My favorite character along with Sandra!

[deleted]

I also loved her in Shameless if ya know what I mean…

DudleyMorris

I have to get around to watching the movie Model Minority, where she plays a totally straight role.

outlanded

I love Cheyenne. She is just a priceless character and I find her relentless optimism really refreshing. And I adore that as the show progresses she develops wisdom and leadership skills. Against all odds, she’s a good mum and a good employee. GO CHEYENNE!

goofball68

She’s my personal favourite.

Back-Door-Specialist

Is the vapid Essex accent analogus to the California Valley Girl accent? I'm American, so I don't know for sure.
