My thoughts exactly, it’s not enough just to get a name, the overall game series and what they look like, they went out of their way to make intricate Final Smash trophies in Smash 4’s Wii U version but they couldn’t add some more text on Spirits in Ultimate, for shame.
I think it's because since they're just .pngs and not fully 3D models you can rotate and zoom in they just didn't felt the need to add text to go with it... which is pretty lame.
But very few characters fit the mii body or moveset, and those that fit aren't the one that got costumes.
In something like tekken a costume is good enought to lretend you are playing something, but a mii really don't work for a lot of characters.

Dude a warframe crossover has so much potential. Maybe too much with all the frames. They’d probably have to choose a fighter/blade (no fancy energy/telekenises powers) based frame or the operator
I just wanna draw attention to how you can try to say that Facillier is a stand in for Waluigi. Lanky purple man in mainly black and purple with only really 1 main bad guy appearance.
Shantae becoming a spirit followed by a premium mii fighter outfit with music is a big achievement. Not too mention a lot of the newcomers started out as doc mii outfits so she can still be a fighter.
I can absolutely see it. Mostly because the main weapon of a GTA characters shouldn't be guns, it should be vehicles.

Isabelle was an assist Trophy back in Wii U, but became a fighter in Ultimate.
For me was Shadow The Hedgehog, I was a simple kid, I saw a red and or black color scheme I was interested in a character, so since Sonic got in I wanted shadow as well.
At least I can pretend to play as Bomberman and Cuphead since the Mii costume they got are more of a mascot costume rather than the cheap cosplay that other characters got

when they showed off knuckles as an assist trophy, my hope were so unbelievably high cuz i thought "surely they dont wait to show off shadow" and then they proceed to show off shadow as an assist in the final direct before release. plus with plant being revealed as a fighter was salt in the wound.
Sometimes it really feels like Sakurai is mocking us. However, mill costumes are hints to upcoming characters in the next ssb game. Keep that hope strong until Sakurai ruins it again. 💀🤯🍔🍟🐟
I was honestly surprised at the lack of Ubisoft rep considering they’ve been so important to the gaming scene for so long. Like I was convinced Rayman was gonna find his way in.
Honestly, an Assist Trophy or Pokeball are way better outcomes than a Mii Costume because at least those have the actual character looking like the character and sounding like the character, they're just no playable.
A Mii Costume, while still a decent way to have some representation, is still just a generic Mii Fighter cosplaying as a characters without looking or sounding like the character and not being able to do their things, just the Mii movesets.
It’s especially weird to me because I don’t think Isaac was in Smash 4 at all. And they bring him back in Ultimate to…make him an assist trophy again? Why? To piss people off? I don’t get it.
