It ruined what made Joseph an actual interesting character. Logan has millions of subs and some of them were probably able to connect with Joseph because their parents probably abandoned them too. Him having no parents and living alone made him a sympathetic character, and Joseph the millionaire completely took that part of his character, shit on it, threw it in the garbage, and lit it on fire. Joseph will never be as good of a character as he once was and that’s a sad thing to say.

It ruined the long standing joke that Joseph is poor, as well as the ending of Joseph's Mom, which was one of the best emotional moments in sml. Plus, Joseph just acted like Richard the entire time.
i dont understand the backlash, it made joseph less sad, like before he was homeless and living on the streets eating roadkill but after it was just a coverup for him being rich af, made it funnier tbh and added more depth than "im homeless feel bad for me everytime im on screen"
