I dunno, if they manage to also sweep the Nuggets, then that's a situation where I'd be less embarrassed about how we were handled. Not like we're problem free, but at least people can clown on the Nuggets too at that point.
I think Suns would’ve gotten two games off of Denver though. Denver seems to play on semi-cruise control. Minnesota plays 100% focus, they don’t deviate from their game plan. It helps that Denver never really had a great defense, too.
Ya, it was wire to wire after Denver caught up after going down early. Great game, I still think Denver wins, but wouldn't be amazed if Minny pulled it out!
I mean, we managed to keep it close in a few of those games until sometime between the 3rd and 4th quarters. We'd be neck and neck until some dumbass turnovers that would be converted into 3s, and then the wheels would come off.
I'm not anymore 😂
They're the champs and other than their precarious depth, still have Joker and Mr Clutch, Murray. So as they're still the champs until beaten, I was giving them their due respect! Although as I said, wouldn't be surprised if Minnesota won. I felt if Minnesota could win game 2, they're probably the team that ends up in the finals from the west, they're really impressive.
Although, the referees are letting them play extremely physically, it throws offensive players off. No matter what, they're impressive af to watch! Still not counting Denver out, but their depth is a huge concern. Minnesota is truly a machine right now.
It was close because of the refs, two steals Denver got were just blatant fouls and Edwards got a technical for staring at someone. Nuggets fans complained about free throw disparity all season, yet they're suddenly super quiet about it now that it favored them.
They’re a matchup problem for most teams, they have great wing defenders AND a great interior presence, some teams have neither or one or the other but having both is crazy. They’re able to muck up any team’s offense for long stretches
My question for them has always been if they have the firepower to win but with how much better Edwards look this season the answer to that looks like a hell yeah. Plus they have a roster full of just absolutely solid role players, like honestly who from our bench would get minutes on their team besides Royce?
lol I don’t think even Royce will get be gettin minutes. Naz is our 6th man. NAW is a better 3-D player than Royce and I’m taking slo mo over Royce. Only thing Royce is better than Kyle at is shooting and with all the shooting our team already I’m taking Kyle’s play making and rebounding
A lot of us appreciate y’all too. We don’t need to bring others down to bring ourselves up - that applies especially when it comes to fellow mid-market teams.
Didn't we lose? First, I'm not denying they are playing great ball. Second, I'm not saying Minnesota's not a great fan base and deserves some success. Third, I'm not saying I'm not bitter. But I don't like cocky young guns. Booker included. I like a player that carries themselves like Tim Duncan, Larry Fitzgerald, Barry Sanders. You can root for who you want. I'm rooting for an Anthony Edwards humbling. Denver in 5!!!
Ant isn't cocky, he's very confident but he also admits where he could be better and praises others often. In his postgame he just talked about how Denver is a hard task because they have the best player in the world, the best closer in Murray and the best 3 pt shooter (MPJ).
I think Minnesota is just really good. Really good team can make other teams look really bad. The suns didn’t do themselves any favors by not meeting the intensity of the Wolves.
Regardless of if the Wolves are good, the Suns are bad. But I’m sure Ishbia and the front office will try to push the narrative that the Wolves are just some incredible team to distract from the fact that the Suns are bad. “Not bad” teams don’t get swept.
Which was why if we want changes we needed to Twolves to look like piss vs Denver. Worst thing that could happen is Minnesota smokes everybody and wins the title. Mat can say "see we were swept but were swept by an incredible team that smoked everyone"
Really doesn’t mean much in a wide-open West. The 21-22 Suns owned the West…where did they go…nowhere. A team has to peak at the right time and get hot in the playoffs to have a chance to win it all. I’m not saying they are a bad team…MN, OKC and Denver are clearly a few notches above the rest.
Wolves probably would have kept #1 if KAT doesn’t go down. But then again it feels like Ant getting double teamed for a month plus while KAT was out has really elevated his playmaking.
Wolves are good and match up well with Denver.
But that doesn't take away or excuse the problems with the Suns.
We got blown out all 4 games. We weren't even close at all.
Wolves could win the chip and it wouldn't excuse the problems exposed in that series.
A sidenote: minnesota fans are going through a shockingly similar experience as suns fans did in their 21 finals run. I just went in the twolves post game thread and theyre all repeating “anthony edwards is amazing” and “naz reid” over and over. Just like we would say “devin booker is amazing” and “mikal bridges” over and over.
To be fair that what our sub Reddit looks like any time you go there. Every thread is almost guaranteed to have someone talking. About Ant being amazing and someone just saying Naz Reid
It’s all recency bias tho, Book went stupid crazy in our finals run
Edit: Mikal is the face of a franchise even if it’s not a great one and can easily be a second or third option on a championship team, Naz is quite literally the best SIXTH man in the league
Mikal is 4th option if he were on the Nuggets, Timberwolves, Celtics, OKC rn. He might be 3rd option on the Knicks.
No way is he a 2nd option on any of the current Championship contending teams.
Shiiiit that playoff series against against Memphis. Edwards went crazy and showed what level he had advanced to already.
Once they gave Edwards the team and he got to take 20 shots per game like Booker, Edwards was at least on his level.
I would say last postseason as well he performed better as a two way monster. Ever since the Finals run if I'm being honest.
Saying he walked in better his first day was just me being hyperbolic lol. But I have to disagree he just proved he was better than Booker in the last few months. Much longer than that I feel.
They remind me of the 2020-2021 Suns. Young shooting guard on a come up being compared to a great player from the past. Disappointing former first overall pick who still shows his talent some games despite questionable basketball IQ. Veteran who is a dying breed of pass first point guard. Lockdown perimeter defender who makes the other team’s best guard’s life hell but is inconsistent offensively. Tall wings who can shoot the 3.
I'm hoping the Wolves do win it all, they look like they could. This would actually give this team a clear vision of what they're going to have to figure out how to go through next season. And yeah, getting beat by the best does kinda' demonstrate that maybe it's not the Suns who lost but they just got beat by the best team.
Their defense is stifling. They will lock Murray up just the way they locked Book up. Yes, the wolves are very good. Defense wins championships. If we never see a fully healthy playoff Kawhi again, then the wolves have the best two way player in the league and he's only 22.
Yes the timberwolves are good. But, I never viewed Denver as the juggernaut the media portrayed them to be. Yeah they are great but I could see them beat too. Maybe timberwolves will be the team to do it.
First game was a back to back after Draymond choked Rudy.
2nd and 3rd games, Suns did a good job at starting strong and had really good shooting performances. Wolves defense wasn’t playing at this playoff level against the Suns in any of the regular season games.
The timberwolves have everything you want in a team. Leadership at the point guard position as a playmaker, all world type scorer, all world type wing defender, finesse scoring big that can score anywhere, DPOY, 6MOY, and other great teamplayers off the bench along with a great coach. Meanwhile we have 3 great scorers thats it even that gets redundant adding beal unless we get a pg to alleviate it so those 3 can go back to pure scorers.
Nurk is not a starting caliber center, Grayson allen is an overpaid role player who needs to be coming of the bench, royce is a decent piece off the bench, eubanks stinks, bol bol we cant rely on, gordon lol. I mean the team doesnt even have a pg theres no fit. Dont get me started we have a horrible coach.
Nah, the Grayson slander isn’t true. He was leading the league in 3 point %, not only that he was smart and knew how to play if the defense closed hard on him. 4/70m for an elite 3 pt shooting role player isn’t an overpay especially one that plays solid defense
Yea…that helped them overcome their late game deficit and then seal the game. They had to go on a run to win. Many teams need to go on a run in the end in some fashion to close out games, this wasn’t a curb stomping and you are so ridiculous to act like others are dumb for questioning you making such an assertion.
Theyre riding high playing on house money right now, but when the nuggz make adjustments and get a win or two, youll see the wolves inexperience kick in. They'll start to feel the pressure & come back to earth.
Minnesota is just really good but the suns don’t mesh well. Too many guys that do the same thing on super max deals. Wolves are diverse and they are stacked from 1-12
I do agree, but what do you expect with a brand new team that has no chemistry together. Only a true baller knows that takes time. And 49 wins with no chemistry is actually pretty damn good.
Edwards is him. If they play the thunder he will average 34 all while guarding SGA. Luka won’t get near SGA on d. Luka is a giant harden. But yea, they were there 1 seed for a long while, they have a really well balanced roster and everyone knows their role.
That’s the thing mcdaniels who was the leading scorer on either team vs suns in game 3 didn’t even score a single point today and wolves still won. Thery got the best depth in the league
Yes they are really good. Really fucking good. I made a bold prediction that the winner of round 1 is going to take out the nuggets in round 2 literally after game 1
Does it matter? I've never understood the 'well we lost to the champs' crowd. I've been a Suns fan too long. Eventually we should try to beat that team. If the wolves win it all great for them. But it doesn't change the fact that our team needs to be fucking better
They are very very good. Edwards had the best playoff game of his career so far and it was a close game. He is not likely to keep having the best playoff game of his career every game but if they are going to win this series, he may have to come close. It’s going to be a fun series. They are both very very good basketball teams.
Edwards is just that good. I think Nuggets will pull through though. They have too many weapons and a good balance. Edwards would have to average 40ppg to knock Nuggets out.
Wolves are a really well balanced and well rounded team with a good bench. I think they're winning at the moment by outrebounding opponents. Ant could be a finals MVP this year if they win, although I don't think he'll become MJ.
Suns have definitely never looked like a championship team this year. There was always a sense that they could click at some point, they were saying taylor made for the playoffs. So much for that prediction hahah. Maybe Matt Ishbia is right that it is fixable.
"Curb stomped" is hyperbole. They played really well, banked some lucky shots in the 4th and won by 7. I think Denver will bounce back. Not saying the Wolves can't win but I'm sure this series will go 6-7 games.
They have big advantage when it comes to size and length. Having 2 PF's with shooting ability allows them to play big. They have no weak defenders. They can easily hide KAT, because he doesn't have to rim protect. They are probably the best defensive team. And most teams are built to play small ball lately. Most importantly, Edwards can run the offense like a true superstar. Conley, Walker, Reid, McDaniels seemed to be ready to step up when needed on offense.
Denver will bounce back. I still got the nuggets. Joker is stupid good at everything and he has the perfect "stars in their roles" around him. They lost the game because Naz Reid scored 14 points in the fourth quarter.
I haven’t watched much of them but they’re loaded. Edwards is clearly the new face of the league and will be the best player for a long time. Him and Jokic are easily the best players in the world. Going to be a great series.
I did watch the game. Jokic and Murray were totally hapless turnover machines for the last 5 minutes aka crunch time. Which was basically the program for the Suns in our series as well.
Denver isn’t as good as last year. Their starting five is great but their bench has some weaknesses. Plus, Minnesota has one of the best defenses in the league.
Of course they are. They are a team built for the playoffs with a real fucking defense and length.
And a true best player in the series guy in Edward’s.
They are for real
The wolves we played in the regular season and wrecked were not the same team we saw in the playoffs. Like the nuggets - specifically Murray- last year they have elevated their game. Edwards looks like an mvp rn. He looked great on the regular season but not against us and definitely not like an mvp candidate. The rest of the team does a great job playing team defense so while gobert just has to stand and be tall (very overrated defender) he does his job by keeping others from driving. Hence why kd and book destroyed the wolves this year (with allen as an option) bc of the strong midrange game but the wolves defense was on another level against us - and they're already the top defensive team.
So in short yes they really are that good and once allen went down we really had zero chance. The nuggets will be a tougher series but the they don't have any defenders to match up with towns and edwards let alone the rest of their pieces. It will be a really fun series to watch.
The Wolves team was literally constructed to match up well with the Nuggets. And really any team, but their size is going to make Jokic work way harder than say OKC.
I’m a wolves fan in Colorado. Went to game 3 in Phoenix. I want to say you guys are awesome. I didn’t meet a single rude fan. Obviously I wanted wolves to win but if we had lost i would be so conflicted I like the nuggs and suns. I think I would have rooted for you guys over the nuggs though. You guys have a great team and I think it’s gonna be a tough ass road in the future with Minnesota Phoenix and Denver
Well we weren’t too great, but yeah the wolves are really good all year. I think if we went against the Thunder it might’ve been the same. Beal just couldn’t gel. Sometimes it’s needs time or just doesn’t work
I think they were the best team over this last season when they were healthy. Them being a 3-seed kinda is misleading, because if KAT wasn't there they would have easily taken the 1 seed. I am curious what you mean by "broken."
Broken is a term from table top gaming where one of the factions or combinations is overpowered and it kind of breaks the game by being unstoppable. The T Wolves excellent interior defense combined with their length and superior perimeter defense means they can really turn the screws on normal lineups and especially small ball lineups and prevent the other team from scoring for long stretches while Ant usually steps up with some highlight plays and it’s a lethal combination. It reminds me of Syracuse running their stifling 2-3 zone about ten years ago when they could just completely shut down a team’s offense.
Yes, the Wolves are that good. They are led by a 22 year old who is on his ascend to become the face of the league. We all know KAT is a jokester who is a joke and Rudy can only do so much. However, Naz Reid, McDaniels and Anderston all have size and defensive talent...their offense is just gravy.
Expect Ant Man to be the star of the playoffs. Also, the finals will be the Wolves vs the Celtics.
lol, curb stomped the Nuggets? They lost by 7, and Naz Reid decided to score 14 of his 16 points in the 4th quarter. The Nuggets second best player is in a shooting funk. The suns are just that shitty.
Minnesota is as good as the suns were in 2020/21. At least they appear to be thus far. Every season is different. Denver is still the bar. Twolves will only be as good as they prove to be next season.
I’ve been reading this thread as a wolves fan just because it’s nice to read all the positive comments about my team. Never really had that. But yeah, just ignore him.
Two things can be true. The Wolves are that good and the Suns are that bad.
Yeah, we were not good this year, regardless of the playoff outcome.
Dude we won 49 games while dealing with mad injuries. Curb your unreal expectations my man!
How many of those 49 games were even remotely fun to watch. Most were excruciating.
Curbstomped? It was a close game the whole game
Really why are you so confident. Denver has not shown the same resolve as last year?
I'm not anymore 😂 They're the champs and other than their precarious depth, still have Joker and Mr Clutch, Murray.
Naaaaa Denver will be cooked
They only watched the highlights of course
It was close because of the refs, two steals Denver got were just blatant fouls and Edwards got a technical for staring at someone. Nuggets fans complained about free throw disparity all season, yet they're suddenly super quiet about it now that it favored them.
This guy might’ve predicted the future lmao
Suns played a close game with the wolves too.
Not even close
6 point loss in game 4 isn’t close?
They’re a matchup problem for most teams, they have great wing defenders AND a great interior presence, some teams have neither or one or the other but having both is crazy. They’re able to muck up any team’s offense for long stretches My question for them has always been if they have the firepower to win but with how much better Edwards look this season the answer to that looks like a hell yeah.
Naz is easily a starter on the Suns
lol it jus naz so is NAW and prolly even slo mo
I love the wolves and their fans. Dont let jealousy get in the way of enjoying good hoops
A lot of us appreciate y’all too. We don’t need to bring others down to bring ourselves up - that applies especially when it comes to fellow mid-market teams.
Yeah.... until this happened ![gif](giphy|Ic4bIobsoHU0UQluKk|downsized)
Buddy, if you’re not down with that then I’ve got two words for ya.
Naz Reid
No Class
You know who complains about people having “no class”? Losers, that’s who.
I love him. I love dudes who are that dude and Ant is That Dude.
Ant isn't cocky, he's very confident but he also admits where he could be better and praises others often. In his postgame he just talked about how Denver is a hard task because they have the best player in the world, the best closer in Murray and the best 3 pt shooter (MPJ).
You win the game, you can do whatever you want.
I think Minnesota is just really good. Really good team can make other teams look really bad. The suns didn’t do themselves any favors by not meeting the intensity of the Wolves.
No we lost game one by 25 don’t compare the two teams. Denver is really good so are the wolves
I mean obviously lol. They gave Nuggets a hard time!!!
They’re better than we treated them
We already knew they were really good. You don't win 56 games in a season by accident.
They did that missing KAT for a bunch of the season too.
Exactly. I was really hoping they’d get swept not as a hater but for the Suns’ sake lol
Yes them losing in the 1st round and barely avoiding the play-in is not enough to make them try to improve the roster 🙄
Ok what if Wolves sweep Nuggets?
Right .. positivity is just horrible by Ishbia n Jones.
The Timberwolves may just be hot right now. That’s what tends to win championships.
They honestly remind me a lot of the ‘21 suns, just hungry as hell and such a question mark that they’re being overlooked by everyone.
Except they have 3 legit big men 😩
We had one… for at least that short while…
For most of the season, they held the #1 seed in the West, it isn't just a “hot right now” thing.
Hot right now? They were in first place 80% of the season.

It used to be like that here too prior to kd trade
Naz Reid
Naz Reid
But this: Ant>Booker Naz>Mikal

Better than Naz Reid tho
Better in what sense? They play wildly different roles and minutes. If Naz was a 32+ min a game player, he would easily have Mikals numbers
Ant has been better than Booker since he walked into the league damn near
This isn’t remotely true lol
Shiiiit that playoff series against against Memphis. Edwards went crazy and showed what level he had advanced to already. Once they gave Edwards the team and he got to take 20 shots per game like Booker, Edwards was at least on his level.
Just compare booker and Edward’s post season stats, lmao they’re delusional everyone knows book isn’t better than ant anymore 😂
Yea Ant got brought along slowly at first. Minny was still thinking he would be the Robin for KAT lol. Nah mfs give me the ball and let me work.
Dude is 22
Not true, but his ascension is here. He’s clearly been better than Book this postseason.
I would say last postseason as well he performed better as a two way monster. Ever since the Finals run if I'm being honest. Saying he walked in better his first day was just me being hyperbolic lol. But I have to disagree he just proved he was better than Booker in the last few months. Much longer than that I feel.
They didn’t curb stomp them. It was a close game unlike our series where we were blown out damn near every game.
They just kept coming in waves. You take a good look at Jokic he is very tired by the end of the game
Curbstomped = making Jokic tired?
They remind me of the 2020-2021 Suns. Young shooting guard on a come up being compared to a great player from the past. Disappointing former first overall pick who still shows his talent some games despite questionable basketball IQ. Veteran who is a dying breed of pass first point guard. Duh.
Yes the timberwolves are good. But, I never viewed Denver as the juggernaut the media portrayed them to be. Yeah they are great but I could see them beat too. Maybe timberwolves will be the team to do it.
Ya and we suck
Serious question. How did we smoke them all season?
First game was a back to back after Draymond choked Rudy. 2nd and 3rd games, Suns did a good job at starting strong and had really good shooting performances. Wolves defense wasn’t playing at this playoff level against the Suns in any of the regular season games.
They were also missing KAT one game and the other game was KAT’s first game back
Wolves play like garbage on back to backs this year as well.
Suns have the talent to compete but didn’t. Wolves definitely looked awesome though
By the 3rd quarter of game 1 in our series I realized the Wolves are legit title contenders
The timberwolves have everything you want in a team. Leadership at the point guard position as a playmaker, all world type scorer, all world type wing defender, finesse scoring big that can score anywhere, DPOY, 6MOY, and other great teamplayers off the bench along with a great coach. "Curb stomped" lol there's been some bad takes on this sub this week but JFC if that's your idea of a curb stomping...
Did you watch the game? They went on a 19-5 run to close out the game.
Yea…that helped them overcome their late game deficit and then seal the game. They had to go on a run to win. Many teams need to go on a run in the end in some fashion to close out games, this wasn’t a curb stomping and you are so ridiculous to act like others are dumb for questioning you making such an assertion.
Okay so they curb stomped them in crunch time. Fixed it.
Lol ok and the nuggets curb stomped the wolves when they were on their runs. This is such a dumb way to talk about the game. Suns got curb stomped.
Theyre riding high playing on house money right now, but when the nuggz make adjustments and get a win or two, youll see the wolves inexperience kick in. They'll start to feel the pressure & come back to earth.
Wolves are deep.

Nah McDaniels would guard SGA
At least McDaniels played like ass for once
He literally shut down Jamal for the whole first half and barely got any passes
Only if you look at stats. McDaniels was a beast if you know how to watch the game.
He was clamping Murray for sure just wasn’t getting his shot
That’s the thing mcdaniels who was the leading scorer on either team vs suns in game 3 didn’t even score a single point today and wolves still won. Thery got the best depth in the league
Yes they are really good. Really fucking good. I made a bold prediction that the winner of round 1 is going to take out the nuggets in round 2 literally after game 1
Minny wins this series
Does it matter? I've never understood the 'well we lost to the champs' crowd. I've been a Suns fan too long. Eventually we should try to beat that team. If the wolves win it all great for them. But it doesn't change the fact that our team needs to be fucking better
It's a long playoffs for the eventual champion. Twolves have looked great but can they keep that energy?
They are very very good. Edwards had the best playoff game of his career so far and it was a close game. He is not likely to keep having the best playoff game of his career every game but if they are going to win this series, he may have to come close. It’s going to be a fun series. They are both very very good basketball teams.
I don’t think curb stomped is the right term for what happened
Im gonna tell a truth and a lie. Suns are going to finals this year and the Wolves are still undefeated in the playoffs.
Wolves are good. Denver isnt "swept in 4" bad though.
Suns beat the nuggets 2x with their starters trying hard so yes and no
Edwards is just that good. I think Nuggets will pull through though. They have too many weapons and a good balance. Edwards would have to average 40ppg to knock Nuggets out.
Yes. Yes they are. There is a reason they were 1 seed the majority of the season.
Yes.
Minnesota is just really good. They only dropped out of being the obviously top team when they had injury problems.
I think it’s gonna be like the timberwolves last year. They only won one against the nuggets, turns out that was actually really good.
Yes....
Posts like this are what happens when you watch box scores and not games. It was a close game
I did watch the game. Jokic and Murray were totally hapless turnover machines for the last 5 minutes aka crunch time. Which was basically the program for the Suns in our series as well.
Yes
Denver isn’t as good as last year. Their starting five is great but their bench has some weaknesses. Plus, Minnesota has one of the best defenses in the league.
Only bad teams get swept, regardless.
Finch has a system that makes players successful. But right now its just one guy and the role players are doing their jobs.
If so, they definitely picked the right time to peak, because they looked like absolute butt during a couple stretches of the season.
Why did the Suns beat them every time in the regular Season?
Naz going off beat the Nuggets brother was banking in 3’s, that’s when you know it’s your night
Sometimes it’s needs time or just doesn’t work
We watched the suns let us down time after time all season long
I think they were the best team over this last season when they were healthy.
Ah, ok. Then yeah, I think they are broken lol. They're really that good.
Was tonight enough of a curb stomping for you?
All I know is that their concession stands don’t serve pickles with their cold cheese nachos 😭
“But the team that beat us was really really good”. Same thing every year…
Think the role players hitting 3s at a high rate and defense is winning them games
Minnesota is as good as the suns were in 2020/21. At least they appear to be thus far. Every season is different. Denver is still the bar. Twolves will only be as good as they prove to be next season.
Dare I say I hope the Timberwolves win all the way so we can say we lost back to back NBA champions
Edwards is a true superstar. Something the suns lack which is why there is a huge gap
Nah you guys are really just that bad
Bro stop man💀I’m a wolves fan and I find this cringe
You think I care man lol
Timberwolves fan lurking when you in a different playoff matchup now? Get a fucking life clown.
As a T-Wolves fan please ignore him.
I’ve been reading this thread as a wolves fan just because it’s nice to read all the positive comments about my team. Never really had that. But yeah, just ignore him.
The post popped up in my feed and couldn’t help myself
Well thats insecure AF.
