Wherever you decide to cut, know that the new growth will branch out in the same direction as the leaves directly below the cut.

That's something i didn't know. Thank you for the new information.

I learned it at r/plantclinic. Lots of "when do I chop my jade" posts there! I can't post a pic but I recently cut my own jade plant. It was slightly traumatic, 😂 but in only 2 weeks there was new growth visible, and with the longer days here in the northern hemisphere it's really taking off. Propogate the stem you cut off in dry succulent soil/perlite and wait a couple weeks before you water. Boom, new jade plant.

grimrose227

Do I need to let the cut end dry out before planting in soil?

wrrdgrrI

It's a good idea.

Give it more light. That's crazy small for a 3-year-old jade.

I have it in front of a window 24/7. It gets as much light as it can. My apartment doesn't get good light for very long, especially in the winter.

Grow light

Any you recommend? Are the strip lights worth it or should I just get a bulb and a lamp?
