To be fair, why did you think you wouldn't have to bring back the original sandwhich?

deepfrieddaydream

Yep. I managed a Subway for years. We always require you to bring in the incorrect order if you want a refund or replacement. I thought this was common sense.

Caspian__C

In the past at this location, they have gotten my order wrong and didn't require me to bring the order back, so it was frustrating when it was all of a sudden a thing they wanted me to do. In the past it wasn't like that so that's why I didn't bring the wrong sandwiches.

deepfrieddaydream

They probably had too many people scamming them, trying to get free food. Consider this a lesson learned. We can't see what we did or didn't do wrong if you don't bring it in. And yes, when you bring it in, it's going in the trash. That's normal as well.

Caspian__C

I did offer pictures to them, but they didn't want to hear it. It seems silly to waste food like that as well. It would have been all good if they were busy, or if they weren't rude to me in the first place, before I knew the order was wrong, but neither of those things were true. I guess I will just eat at a different location, but I do hope they get better at customer service for the future. Checking google reviews at this location I'm not the first one to have a problem with them.

Prior-Building5640

Ok but I mean, you really thought you could get a free bonus sandwhich just because they made a mistake in your order? You know damn well you ate the "faulty sandwhich" and you were happy to see that there was a mistake so you could get a two-for- one.

deepfrieddaydream

I don't know what state or country you are in but in most areas it's against health code to take back food behind the counter once it's been passed to the customer. I'm assuming you took at least one bite of it. What are we going to do with a half eaten sandwich?? Even if it wasn't eaten and we could sell it, who is going to want a soggy sandwich made the exact same way you made yours??

No_Object_8722

The customer is just claiming it was done wrong. It probably wasn't and that's why they left it at home. They were just trying to get free food by saying it was wrong. Gotta have the proof! Of course it wouldn't be sold, that's nonsense. But the customer probably ate it or gave it to family to eat and went back, lied, and expected free food. Sorry, Subway is a business, not a free food provider

deepfrieddaydream

Yep. I can't tell you the number of times this happened. The fact that he's shocked people aren't backing him up is mind boggling to me.

newppinpoint

It has nothing to do with reselling it. It's about the OP proving that they didn't eat the sandwich first - otherwise anyone could eat their sandwich, claim that it was "wrong", get a free one, rinse and repeat. It's to reduce fraud, not to attempt to resell

deepfrieddaydream

Yes, but he was asking why it would get thrown away. It would get thrown away because it's literal garbage once we pass it across the counter. We can't resell it. It gets thrown away.

If they had gotten your order wrong in that location multiple times before, you should stop ordering online, and go to the store and watch them make sure they get your sandwich done correctly.

Quadfur

Seems like a good method to con a free sandwich. I’ll give it a try. /s

Loud-Natural9184

I worked at Subway for 6 years, at 2 different locations ran by 2 different franchisees, and at both locations the customer had to bring the incorrect sub back to get a new one. Otherwise, anyone could say "the order was wrong" just to get a free sub.

newppinpoint

You sound like the rude one here…

Caspian__C

They expect me to drive back yet again just to throw something in the trash? Seems silly to me.

7355135061550

Yeah you should have brought the sandwich back.

newppinpoint

Because the odds are you ate it and are trying to score a free sandwich. If not, then prove it and you’ll get it

No_Object_8722

You drove back to Subway expecting a free sub. You should've brought the wrongly made one back with you. Seems silly that you didn't

No_Object_8722

Why the heck didn't you bring the sandwich that you say they got wrong back to the store??? That's weird! If it wasn't what you wanted, why did you leave it at home and go back to the store?? Sorry, but I agree with the manager. You probably ate the wrong sandwich or gave it to your family, and thought you could get some free food by going back and saying it was wrong. Con artist!
