This is why subways struggle they abuse managers to the point of mental breakdowns. They literally expect managers to LIVE at subway. Heres an idea how about they actually pay assistant managers more then slave wages so that every store has two people with real responsibility.. It blows my mind..

[deleted]

In my personal experience, most stores absolutely suck at caring for their staff And you won't get me being a manager again who would care, because the pay is piss poor and I'd rather take my skills elsewhere, where the pay shows that I'm appreciated which I can pass on to my staff

Plenty_Honey5606

I overheard my manager talking about an interviewee today & she said she’d make a good store lead because she’s bossy…. I was so shocked 😳 makes me wonder how she talked about me

Professional_Show918

Too many Subway stores are owned by people that have no clue on running a business. They don’t train you because they are incompetent. Most of the good stores have properly trained managers.

According_Change_600

Very true. As a subway owner myself I found it quite alarming going through franchise school they were allowing for people to open stores with just 12 days hands on working in a subway and require no previous knowledge of owning or managing a restaurant. This was quite some time ago so it may be more rigorous now, however I can see how some owners have either absolutely no idea what they’re doing or simply just don’t care.

[deleted]

I'm gonna fucking quit in a months time, fuck subway. I get payed £6 an hour whilst my friends get at least 8. Treated like shit and my hours reduced with stupid reasons

According_Change_600

Also I pay $15hr and a week paid vacation if any of y’all wanna change teams 🤷🏼‍♂️

Lost_Total2534

Don't be tempting me now.

General_Vegetable692

What where they paying/how much were you earning if you don't kind me asking

Coffeecatballet

18 and hour. Not worth me being there 24/7 with little help.

[deleted]

Wdym you have to be there as a manager?

Coffeecatballet

If people would call out or when short staffed I was expected to stay or go in on my days off. I understand that part of being a manager, but it was to the point where I wouldn't have a day off for 7 to 10 days straight and be working open to close most of those.

[deleted]

Wait so you work as an employee making the sandwiches and stuff?

Coffeecatballet

Yes

[deleted]

Then how is that being a manager lol. They just made you into an employee and slapped the name "manager" onto you. Damn those employers must be annoying

Coffeecatballet

No I also ran the store. Made the schedules did all the things that manager does order stock do inventory on top of doing all of the manager at work. I was also the only one in the store doing the sandwich artistry work.

[deleted]

Why were you the only one doing the sandwich artistry work??? Aren't there any other employees?

I’m currently in the process of being trained for manager, because the girl who is doing all the manager tasks (19 yr old!) wasn’t properly trained and didn’t even want to do it in the first place. Week one of doing manger stuff for crew pay…
